Chapter 773

Marcel had taken over Grandeur Capital, and his life had become a whirlwind. His time with Zella was becoming increasingly limited.

After returning from the Salter Manor, Marcel, who was already feeling uneasy, briefly felt a sense of calm upon seeing Zella. He took her hand and inquired, “Have you eaten well tonight?”

Zella was a bit taken aback.

In all these years, Marcel had always been distant and rarely showed any concern for her. However, recently, his attention and care towards her had been unwavering, and it was hard for her not to be moved.

“I ate.” Zella squatted down slightly. “Madam is still upset. Don’t be angry. It will get better in a few days.”

Marcel was growing fonder of Zella. Her presence made him feel at ease.

“In a few days, I’ll accompany you to the Anderson family.”

They had children now, and it was time to consider their marriage.

Zella seemed to remember something embarrassing. She hesitated for a moment before nodding, “Alright.”

After a disappointing visit to the Salter Manor, Leda took a break and knocked on Zella’s door. “Prepare something for me to eat.”

Fresh out of the shower, Zella still had a lingering dampness on her skin. “Madam, the kitchen has prepared food, and it’s still warm.”

“I don’t care. Weren’t you quite good at cooking before?” Leda was not fond of Zella, who had given birth to what she considered a useless daughter.

Why couldn’t she be more like Brittany, who had given birth to a son in her first pregnancy?

Brittany’s son was handsome, no wonder she could charm Grace into forgiving her mistakes.

Zella knew Leda was doing it on purpose, “Understood.”

She changed into a fresh set of clothes and went downstairs into the kitchen.

Leda watched her go, rolling her eyes dismissively.

Zella was a good cook. In less than an hour, she had prepared a late-night snack according to Leda’s preferences.

She served it to Leda. “Madam, it’s ready.”

Leda walked over to the table, pulling out a chair to sit down. She glanced at Zella, “How’s the pregnancy planning going?”

Zella pursed her lips, “I haven’t decided yet.”

With a fierce movement, Leda dropped her chopsticks, “Zella, if you can get pregnant, do it quickly. The Salter family’s estate can’t end with you. Marcel is good to you. You should learn to be grateful!”

Zella bit her lip. She really didn’t want to get pregnant..

“Marcel has been faithful to you all these years, and that’s already good enough. If you don’t get pregnant soon, I’ll have to find someone else for him.”

Zella frowned, “Madam, do you intend to let Marcel have multiple wives?”

“You aren’t married, so what’s wrong with him seeing other people? It’s not against the law!”

Leda felt she did nothing wrong, “Besides, it’s your fault for not cherishing the opportunity. Why blame me?”

“Mother. Marcel’s voice cut through the room, icy and stern.

“Marcel.” Leda looked at him, unapologetic and self-righteous, “I’m doing this for your own good. You need to have a child for the Salter family.”

Zella watched as Marcel made no move to defend her. She felt a pang of disappointment and retreated upstairs.

“See? She’s becoming more and more audacious, even showing such disrespect towards me.”

“Mother, I don’t want to hear such things in the future.”

Marcel rubbed his temples, “I plan to marry her. I don’t care about having a child.”

He wasn’t sure what he felt for Zella, but he knew she had to stay by his side.

She wanted marriage, and he would give it to her.

Leda was stunned, still wanting to speak, but Marcel had already left.

Zella returned to her room and took another shower. When she came out, Marcel was waiting for her.

“Don’t take what my mother said to heart.”

He had been indifferent towards romantic relationships since he was young.

Zella was an exception. At least, he was willing to keep her by his side.

Zella looked at Marcel’s near-perfect profile and felt a moment of doubt.

“I understand.” She knew Marcel didn’t love her, and that their relationship was based on her initiative. She dreaded thinking about what Marcel would do

if she stopped taking the initiative.

It probably wouldn’t affect him much.
