Brandon’s Pov
Another fruitless week and the lab had no progress, the habit of waiting without hope was starting to
wear me down.
The terrible aspect was that I couldn’t break the news to Thalia, who had established a study habit for
unclear reasons.
Unlike most stories about pregnant women becoming lethargic and nagging, Thalia’s brain cells were
rebuilding.
It was the side of her I could only imagine she was as a teenager. The girl who made it to Havard, the
girl who was destined for a bright future till her father handed her keys to making her dreams with her
crush a reality which eventually led to her dumbness.
Every morning, I awoke to the sight of her studying those ugliness-inducing books. I noticed she always
closed them when I was nearer as if she didn’t want me to know what she was studying.
At one time when she was in the shower, I had to force my dying body to read through the books, and
all I saw were dumb equations. I’d never felt so bored in my life, and I swore I’d never look at another
foolish book again.
When it came to numbers and strange computations, she was clearly smarter than I was. I let her be
with her books and usually concentrated on my cooking.
Thanks to the online lessons and YouTube tutorials, I spent most of my days in a wheelchair in the
kitchen creating high-quality meals.
My Thalia would never go hungry, but I noticed that her newfound enthusiasm had made her lethargic
in the kitchen, so I had to step up because our baby required all the nutrients she could get.
I didn’t care if I died cooking; at the very least, I’d be doing something I enjoyed.
Away from Thalia, useless Victor was interfering with my preparations. Yes, Thalia advised me to let
them self-destruct, but I always ran out of things to do in the middle of the night.
The only thing I did was that I stopped informing her about Josh and Jessica, and to my surprise, she
never inquired about them. I calculated she would start asking after three months but she never
bothered.
She was so preoccupied with the baby or her books, in fact, I had the impression that she had lost
interest in me. She was no longer thirsting all over me like she used to, sometimes I felt like she was
avoiding me.
Maybe it was her hormones or I had become too ugly and pale for her liking and my constant spitting of
blood made her gag or something. I didn’t want to start something out of nothing like I did last time so I
kept my observations to myself.
But there was a snag: Victor was in Russia, according to my men, and I had no idea what he was doing
there or who he was intending to meet with. My men lost him in Moscow and they had no idea where
he was.
For the first time I was blind, so I had no idea where he was or with whom he was meeting. It was quite
aggravating; the individual was extremely cunning and understood how to hide his tracks. It was like he
knew I was following him.
I was so annoyed and pissed with my men. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
The door opened and Thalia who had abandoned me for the entire day joined me,
“Hey, why do you look so bad?” She asked, pretending as if she cared.
“Nothing at all,” I responded. I didn’t want to get her involved in stuff she didn’t care about.
“You are lying,” she replied as she sat down and threw her arm around my shoulder.
“Victor is in Russia, and I have no idea what he’s up to or who he’s meeting with,” I responded,
expecting her to become annoyed and leave me alone.
“He is Most likely there seeking a way out of the mess you trapped him in,” she responded.
“I know that, but I want to ruin everything for him and his unfaithful useless son,” I stated. She stood up
and snatched the iPad from my grasp. “What are you doing?” I asked, confused.
“You appear to be in good shape today,” she advised, “so let’s go for a walk along the beach,” she
suggested.
I stared at her for a second time, I was trying to read her mind. She appeared to be bored with her
calculation books or something.
“No, I’m not feeling good at the moment,” I replied and moved over to my bed. I was putting her to the
test; I wasn’t that desperate that I would jump to fetch whenever she said it. She was giving herself too
much credit, like if I adored her or something.
I was planning on playing with her. I wrapped myself in the blankets and waited for her to start
pleading, but to my surprise, the door shut behind her as she walked out of the room.
I was stunned beyond belief when she departed without pleading for me. I sat in a seated position,
attempting to make sense of what had just occurred. She didn’t even try to cry for me and to my
annoyance, she confiscated my tablet.
As I recognized what she had just done, I said, “Clever.” I got up and followed her; she was waiting for
me at the gate. She was a witch, and she seemed to be able to read my thoughts. She handed me the
tablet and pointed me in the direction.
“Do not be concerned about Victor finding investors; they will be ours. Just think of it this way. He has
started cleaning the company for us,” she said, smiling.
“I thought you had given up on the company?” I enquired.
She sneered and continued walking, her butt had grown in size, and it was rather a lovely sight.
“Stop looking at my butt,” she said.
“I’m simply going about my business, but it’s getting in the way,” I responded.
“What happens if he modifies the clause?” she questioned as she came to a halt.
It appeared that I was mistaken. She was still contemplating the fate of her company but owing to my
brilliant mind, I had her back.
“All of Nelson’s new business and personal lawyers are on my payroll. They’ll stall as long as they can
for you,” I responded.
“But, oh, I see… Anyway, it’s not important,” she replied, surprising me.
“You know, Thalia, you can say anything to me,” I told her.
“Brandon, What if Josh tries to harm the baby I’m afraid for my baby’s safety.”
“Thalia, as soon as you give birth, Nestor will take you to a safe place,” I said, interrupting her. “Josh
isn’t going to see the baby at all,” I assured her.
I thought we’d discussed Josh and the baby problem, she was quiet and didn’t say anything. I could
see why she didn’t want to be a part of the case update.
“Okay, maybe we should charge Victor, Jessica, and Josh with crimes and put them in jail,” I suggested
while waiting for her response. Thalia from the past would be leaping in the air, spouting fresh ideas but
the pregnant Thalia only stared at me.
She questioned, ignoring my advice if Mandel had a branch in Italy.
“Yes,” I responded, confused.
“Let’s go to Italy, I adore Italy, we can come back in three months, and I can work there,” she proposed
abruptly, catching me off guard. “We’ll call it a vacation,” she said, clutching my hands.
“You want to do physical work for me now?”
“Yes, instead of thinking about the baby’s future, I need to keep my mind occupied,” she said as if
enticing me, “You can still take your tablet and finish off Josh in Italy.”
Her beautiful pleading eyes stared at me, I think she knew I had a weakness for them too. I quickly
looked away, I was not going to fall for them.
I couldn’t go to Italy… Dr. Wilson needed my blood and samples on a regular basis, and I needed to
keep up the pressure on him. There was no way I was going to be able to manage regular trips from
Italy to the United States, not even in a Jet.
There were days when I couldn’t even get out of bed. As soon as she turned and began walking away,
I became panicked and texted Nestor.
In a few seconds, the dependable pain in the ass responded, confirming that the man had no life. He
proposed that I travel to Italy and send the samples through Jet.
For the threats I would be face-timing the doctor, it was a good idea.
Thalia was really excited and gave me kisses all over my face when I caught up with her and agreed to
the trip. Maybe she wasn’t disgusted by me as I earlier thought.
I only smiled as realization hit me. We were heading to Italy, and there was a probability I was going to
die there, most likely.
I never saw myself dying in Italy, yet it wouldn’t be a bad idea to be buried there, I reasoned.
