Chapter 735 Let Go Of Hatred
Chapter 735 Let Go Of Hatred
Earle's eyes fluttered open a few moments later. His eyes were filled with sadness and helplessness. He even looked older than his age.
However, Earle was not as furious as Maurice had anticipated. He glanced at Maurice with bloodshot eyes and said in a soft voice, "Maurice, I know about everything. There's no need to be sad.None of this is your fault."
Shocked by his words, Maurice lowered his head in despair and said in a hoarse voice, "I'm very sorry."
As soon as Nancy heard Maurice's words, she squeezed the photo of Gerald in her hands and burst into tears.
Even though Earle didn't cry, it was obvious that he was very sad due to the sorrowful expression on his face.He sighed heavily and rose to his feet.
Then he stared at Maurice for a while in silence, before walking up to him and patting him gently on the shoulder.
"Everything that happened is your uncle's fault. You don't have to take the blame or be sorry about it."
Then Earle paused momentarily and asked, "Before he died...Did he say anything?"
Maurice remained silent. He couldn't stop thinking about the resentful expression on Gerald's face as life slipped away from him.He knew that Gerald would probably not regret anything at all.
But as he stared at the eager expressions in Earle and Nancy's eyes, he couldn't bring himself to tell them the truth.
Finally, Maurice sighed and decided to lie.He glanced at them and said, "Yes, he said that he regretted doing those things. He loved you and grandma very much.He hoped that you could forgive him and live
a good life in the future."
Then he quickly added, "Uncle died very quickly. He didn't feel the pain."
"Really? He said all that?"
Earle felt a sense of relief after he finished listening to Maurice.
Then he waved his hand dismissively.
"Maurice, I suggest that you take your grandmother out for now.I want to be alone for a while."
Knowing that Earle wasn't feeling very well, Maurice felt he couldn't leave him alone, so he immediately said, "No, I can't leave you here all by yourself"
However, Earle shook his head and said in a determined voice, "Well, I need some privacy. You can go downstairs and wait there."
"Maurice, I think we should leave him alone."
Nancy suddenly spoke. She wiped her tears and placed the photo on the table.
Then she walked to Maurice.
"Let's go.Give him some privacy."
Nancy understood Earle very well, since they had been married for a very long time. She knew him better than anyone else.
Seeing that he had no choice, Maurice stared hard at Earle for a while, before turning around and leaving the room with Nancy.
As they both descended the stairs, Nancy suddenly stopped.
"Is there any problem, grandma?" Maurice asked with confused expression visible on his face.
Nancy slowly slipped her fingers into Maurice's hand and held him tightly.
"Maurice, I know you have had a very hard time all these years...I know what happened to your father had nothing to do with the White family. It was probably the handiwork of your uncle.I have hated him for so many years, but your father was dead, and he is my only son left.I have been trying to hide from the truth, because I dare not confront it.I'm really sorry for making you and Eliana suffer so much..."
Nancy sobbed uncontrollably.
"Grandma, none of that matters now,"
Maurice said as he gently patted Nancy's hand. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
"It's all over now.You have to let go of it now that he has passed on."
Even though he said those words to comfort Nancy, Maurice didn't really mean them.
Deep down in his heart, he knew he could never forgive Gerald. But now he had other things to concentrate on.
The dead was gone forever.
If he didn't let go of the hatred, it would only make everyone unhappy.
Maurice also reasoned that his dead parents would want to see him happy instead of holding on to his hatred for what his uncle had done.
Nancy was relieved that the problem that had caused her so many sleepless nights for years had finally been solved.
Suddenly, she turned to Maurice and asked anxiously, "Maurice, where is Eliana at the moment? Have you found her yet?"
A smile appeared on Maurice's face.
"Don't worry yourself about that, grandma.I have found her."
Stunned by his answer, Nancy exclaimed excitedly.
"This is good news, I'm glad that you have found her! Henceforth, Earle and I won't be poking our noses into your business anymore.Just stay with Eliana and take care of her, okay?"
Maurice nodded his head firmly.
"Don’t worry.I will never let her out of my sight again."
