Chapter 66

66. MAD CELINE’S POV “What exactly are you going on about?” Sebastian appeared. perplexed, and then raised both of his eyebrows while gesturing for me to continue. “Even though you have seen Brylee for who she really is, you continue. to act as though you don’t care about anything…” I sighed, my hand stayed on his chest. “Are you attempting to show how much you care for her in this way, or are you up to something else?” The man’s eyes became significantly darker in an instant. He raised my chin higher, and it appeared as though he wanted to press his lips. against mine. “Go on…” “Go on?” I laughed it off. “You mean to say that you want me to make an educated guess as to what your intentions are… right? I apologize, but this brain of mine is not exactly stimulating. I have no idea what Mr. Anderson’s motivation is… What is it about the Lauren family that makes you feel compelled to keep playing your game, huh?” I pushed him away from me and reached into his pocket, where I found a white handkerchief. I spread it out, and wiped my chin with it. “I don’t care what your purpose is; I’m not interested in finding out…” I hissed. “Never in your life should you lump me in with the Lauren family!” I then proceeded to wipe the blood off of his wrist and throw the handkerchief on his chest, but he didn’t bother to catch it. “No matter what you’re up to, please don’t implicate me in anything!” I added. “I. Don’t. Belong to the Lauren Family!” And with my chin held up high, I turned around and walked back inside the house. After making sure that I was far enough from Sebastian for him not to follow me, I stopped for a while, panting. My whole body was shaking, and I was reeling with fear. Yes, I must admit that I did feel a little bit of fear. But not with the fact that I had caught Sasha in the

middle of doing something that cannot be spoken of; rather… it was with the fact that I was caught being a voyeur and red-handed. “Celine!” I was completely distracted by my thoughts when suddenly 1 found myself in such a state of shock that I let out a scream. “Hey!” Instantaneously, Jake dashed over to me and cupped my face with his hands while a worried expression crossed his face. “Are you okay?” “Y-yeah…” I gave him a nod as I moved away from him. “I’m sorry… wasn’t paying attention; I didn’t hear you calling my name…” “Where have you been?” he asked, the worried expression on his fac didn’t change a bit. “I’ve been looking for you for ages, I almost asked your father about you…” “You saw him?” I inquired in a hasty manner. “Yeah…” he nodded with a smile. “He was discussing something with Seb’s father, possibly the date of the wedding…” Oh… so, the wedding will go ahead as planned. I have to plan something special for all of them. “There’s a game going on over the stage!” someone suddenly shouted out of the blue. “There’s a big prize that will be given to the winner of this game! Let’s go!” As soon as Jake heard this, he dragged me up onto the stage. “Hey! What exactly are you up to?” I questioned him as I attempted to wrest control of my hand away from him, but his hold on my wrist. was too strong. “We’re going to join the game!” He yelled out in a jovial manner, as we made our way towards the stage. “No!” I shook my head, laughing. “I’m not very good at playing games!” But Jake didn’t listen to me. He grabbed hold of me and we made our way through the swarm of people until we were standing in front of the stage, where I could see the host holding the microphone. I was able to recognize him as the host of a program on one of the New York television stations.

“This game is called ‘blindman’s swag…” he began to explain the rules and how to play the game. “In this game, the man has to use only words to direct his partner, who is blindfolded, to the money that was hidden inside the box. He would command his partner to wal left, or right until she eventually reached the box…” The audience demonstrated their familiarity with the game by clapping their hands and showing that they understood the rules. “And the prize inside the box is a w hooping 20,000 dollars!” the host added and everybody roared in excitement, but I wasn’t paying attention to them anymore because I caught a glimpse of Sasha laughing. She was on the opposite side of the crowd, and she wasn’t by herself. There was a man beside her, but I didn’t recognize him as my father. The man was sitting at the side, holding a wine glass in his hand, smiling and whispering something into her ear. The lights were not particularly clear, and there were a large number of people in the area. They were too blurry for me to make out what they were doing. I have to figure out who the man is, so that I can get hold of something about Sasha. My memory serves me correctly that she called him Richard. As I got closer to them to get a better look, I suddenly felt someone wrap their hand around my wrist. “Let’s go, Celine!” Jake exclaimed with elation and grabbed my hand to pull me up onto the stage. I didn’t realize that the host was done. explaining the rules. When I noticed that there were people standing together on the stage, I couldn’t help but frown. What sort of a game is this, exactly? “Don’t be nervous, I’m here to help you out…” Jake murmured something to me from behind, and simply nodded as I continued to go with the flow while keeping my eyes fixed on Sasha and her lover. I could clearly see that she was glowing, and judging by the ‘s profile, it appeared as though he was

doing the same thing. I place him, but I had the distinct impression that I had seen him before. All of a sudden, the entire place became pitch black, and I was unabl to see anything. At that point, I became aware that Jake was covering my eyes with a blindfold. “Jake…” I whispered and he hummed in response. “What am I going to do?” “Just follow my instructions, okay?” he whispered. “Okay, go! Walk in a straight line…!” What? I advanced one step while simultaneously extending my arms in an attempt to grab hold of something. The crowd was cheering on everyone who took part in the game by yelling, screaming, and blowing wolf whistles. “Celine, make a right turn!” Over the din of the yelling crowd, I picked out Jake’s voice. I did as he instructed and turned my heels to the right, but I accidentally tripped over my own feet, which caused me to lose my balance. Even though I couldn’t see anything, I squeezed my eyes shut in preparation to fall on the ground. However, I gasped when two arms. caught me, and I felt that we both fell on the ground, but I landed on top of the person who has strong arms and a hard chest. But the fact that my lips were pressed against something moist and pliable was the aspect of the situation that shocked me the most. And I believe that it was the lips of the man that caught me. immediately took off the blindfold just in time, only to see Jake beaming at me with satisfaction after the increasingly loud cheers from the crowd. I was on top of him, and he was lying on the ground, his arms were wrapped around my waist. When I turned my head to look at the crowd, I met Sebastian’s dark eyes staring directly at me and they seemed to be on fire. My eyes widened when he started to walk in our direction, but before he could get any closer to us, Cynthia arrived first and pulled me up from Jake. “Celine!” I heard her shout and my gaze shifted from Sebastian to his sister. “What are you doing? Get off of him!” Cynthia’s eyes were red as she stared at me, her expression was like that of a

jealous little wife. I immediately yanked her hand that was holding my arm, and 5/7 subconsciously reached out to touch my lips, which had just been kissed by Jake. I was a little embarrassed because I didn’t expect that to happen, especially to Jake, who was a good friend of mine. But what made me even more embarrassed was that when I looked up to Sebastian, he was already standing there in front of me with dark eyes, and next to him was the girl who shared my face, smiling annoyingly. “What are you doing, Cynthia?” Jake snapped, and he seemed a little. annoyed, his tone was a little rude towards the young woman. “Get out of here!” Cynthia was stunned as she looked at Jake with tears pooling in her eyes. I assumed that it was the first time that Jake treated her that way. We were interrupted by the host, who suddenly spoke through the mic, easing the explosive atmosphere. The music played on the other side, immediately began to blast out music. The lighting master quickly shone the light on Sebastian and Brylee, hoping to divert everyone’s attention. However, the crowd’s attention was still fixed on us, and that made me sigh in frustration because they would think that I caused this trouble again… as the girl who had a bad reputation. Now, they would be thinking that I was h ooking up with Jake this time. “What were you trying to do just now?” Cynthia took that opportunity to talk to me. “You just kissed Jake in front of many people!” Me? I kissed him? I couldn’t help but smirk at her statement. “What are you laughing at?” she hissed. “Everyone knows how shameless you are! Why are you even here in my house in the first

place? Who invited you? Get out of my face!” “Cynthia, stop!” Jake tried to stop her, and she looked up at him. Hurt was evident in her eyes. “Jake…” she whispered, her voice was shaky. “Why are you defending her?” “I’m not defending her…” Jake gritted his teeth. “What you’re doing is just so wrong and I’m trying to stop you!” Seeing this, I felt a headache brewing. So, I turned around and was ready to leave this troublesome place and end the farce. “You shouted at me for this s lut?” Cynthia screeched, and her words made me stop short. “You’re not making any sense, Cynthia…” Jake groaned. “You’re getting mad over nothing!” 777All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
