Chapter 72
“Make sure that woman will rot in jail!” Jessica told her son angrily, who nodded his head. Because it was the weekend, Jace and his family went to the old Higginson mansion to visit his parents, who missed Ace so much. “Why don’t you let our grandson stay here and let us care for him while you handle the case?” she added.
“Mom, we can’t do that. He has his grandfather and great-grandfather who wanted to be with him as well. Another thing, I can’t afford not to see and play with him for a day; how much more, Emerald?” Young Higginson replied, knowing his wife would never agree with his mother’s request.
“I’m sorry, dear, I didn’t think about that. I should have known because I also didn’t want to be away from my sons when they were Ace’s age.” Jessica said, looking at Emerald apologetically.
“It’s okay, Mom. I understand how much you wanted to be with Ace as well. I’m the one who should be sorry since I can’t grant you your request.” Emerald replied in a low voice. She didn’t want to disappoint her in-laws but didn’t want to be away with her son. “But I promise to bring him here more often, especially when we find my mother and everything’s okay.”
“I understand, dear; just focus on what you must do. Just know that if there’s anything we can help you with, don’t hesitate to tell us, okay?” Jessica replied.
“Yes, Mom, thank you so much. I appreciate your concern for me and my family.”
“We are family, Emerald, don’t forget that.” Nick chimed in, smiling, to which young Morgan and Jace nodded and smiled.
The old Higginson couple was very happy that Jace and Emerald had gone back together. Seeing how much they love each other, they thought their separation helped their relationship grow somehow. They became more mature and noticed how much they treasured every minute they spent together.
The day had passed, and the family had been very happy, especially Ace, who enjoyed playing with his cousin. Jack and Jace were very happy as well, and Emerald and Eunice managed to talk to each other along with Jessica.
Emerald was surprised to learn how her sister-in-law and Jack ended up together, and Jessica laughed at it. She said she never thought that after what happened, her eldest son would want to get cured, so she was very thankful to her daughter-in-law.
“I didn’t think he would let me in his life as well,” Eunice said shyly.
“It’s because he learned to love you,” Jessica replied.
“Did Jace really offer you money if you ever let Jack get his surgery done?” Emerald asked in disbelief.
“You don’t know how much he cared for his brother. That’s why I felt sorry towards you when we found out what he did.” Eunice replied hesitantly. She knew everything was in the past, but she couldn’t help but admire the love between young Morgan and Jace.
“And he said he already loved me the first time he saw me,” Little Morgan said, rolling her eyes, making the two women laugh with finesse.
“Mommy!” Ace shouted, running their way.
“Yes, sweetheart? Where’s your cousin?” asked Emerald, her eyes behind the boy searching for his young cousin.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“She’s with Uncle Jack. She said she wanted to be carried, and I can’t do that for her. So I want to grow up to fully take care of Allison.” Ace replied.
“Oh, my dear boy,” Jessica said happily while Emerald and Eunice smiled. They were very happy to hear the boy’s love for his cousin.

Another week passed, and Emerald was working in her office in ACEGame. She had her bodyguards because Jace didn’t want her to return to work if she didn’t agree, so she had no choice, even if she didn’t like the idea. The fear that Hubert gave her was engraved in her mind, so as much as possible, she also wanted to keep herself safe at all times.
She kept herself busy when Creep came in, followed by Emerson. “Emerald, let your sister go at once!” he commanded, which young Morgan didn’t like.
“You cannot tell me what to do, Emerson.”
Old Morgan’s eyes widened after he heard Emerald. He never thought that a time when she wouldn’t respect him would come. “She’s your sister, and we should be talking about whatever issues we had as a family!” Emerson insisted, making Emerald laugh loud.
“What family are you talking about? I was never part of your family! None of you treated me as a family!” young Morgan shouted back. “If you have nothing to say, you can leave,” she added, dismissing him.
“How dare you talk to your father that way! You are insolent! You don’t belong in our family!”
“Of course, I don’t belong in your family because you are all wicked, greedy, and assholes! Now, if you didn’t want me to ask the security to throw you out of my building, you better leave.” Emerald replied angrily. She thought that Emerson was so thick-skinned as to tell her how unworthy she was when, in fact, they were the ones who were not worthy to be called her family.
With nothing to do, Emerson started walking out of her office. Still, Emerald called him when he was at the door, “Make sure that you and Merly have nothing to do with my nanny’s disappearance, or I will do everything to make you rot in jail like your bitchy daughter Emerose.” Old Morgan glared at Emerald and started to realize that she had not given up on the search for Lucy. Her words worried him, so he decided to transfer her as soon as possible.
On his way home, Emerson called the man in charge of the mansion where he was hiding Lucy and Dr. Sanders. There was no place available for their transfer, so he asked the man to bring them to the Red House first and called Madam Z to arrange a room.
“But boss, you know that we have a lot of customers, and we already lack available rooms.” Madam Z said, refusing the idea.
“You do what I say, or I rip you off your position,” Emerson warned before he ended the call. Madam Z, who couldn’t do anything and had no power in their business, agreed forcefully. She started to call their utility and asked her to start cleaning the room on the far right on the top floor of the Red House. She hates it whenever Emerson acts so high and mighty, even though he was the one who funded their business because she was the one who worked hard to grow it.
She was the first entertainer in the business. She attended to all of its customers from when they started until they could hire new and fresh talents. She also innovated it and had male entertainers, old women, and gay customers increase. Madam Z had been thinking of making an expansion of the Red House when Emerson called her, making her so pissed.
Meanwhile, in the mansion where Dr. Sanders and Lucy were, the doctor asked, “Where are you taking us? Does Mr. Morgan know about this?” He was getting worried because he had sent a message to Emerald, hoping for their rescue.
“Boss said to transfer you,” the man replied.
“What about Ms. Lucy? It won’t be good for her condition if we travel her now.” Dr. Sanders insisted.
“Don’t worry, we have an ambulance ready for her. We will all leave the place, so you better take everything that Ms. Lucy will need, or you’re dead if you leave something behind,” the man replied with a stoic face. After hearing the word ambulance, Dr. Sanders started to worry and hoped that nurses would be available or they would get caught. Lucy had been awake, and they had been talking; she, too, was hopeful that Emerald would be able to find her as well.
Dr. Sanders thought about what he would do. He didn’t want his efforts to go to waste. He was sure that help would be on their way, but it was too late, and he wanted them to continue their search. Something came to his mind as he started gathering Lucy’s medical needs.
“Okay, get in,” the man replied. Dr. Sanders looked inside the ambulance and sighed in relief when he found no one. He got in and helped the man bring the hospital bed where Lucy was in the ambulance. They were the only ones, so he calmed himself. After the door closed, he heard the man tap the ambulance before he shouted to go.
On their way, the doctor started thinking about where they were heading and how he could inform Emerald. He had endured a lot just to send a single message, and it would be more difficult now that they had changed their location.
When they finally got out of the ambulance, the doctor looked around. “What are you looking at?”
“Huh? Nothing, I just had to stretch my back and neck,” he alibied. He knew he had to be careful if he wanted to stay alive or escape the situation with Lucy. Then they started walking inside the building and realized they were using the back door. He tried to remember every road they took, and he was sure they were in another city.
He followed the men and pushed Lucy’s bed. He felt lucky that Emerson didn’t install CCTV in the old mansion. But now, he had to be careful before making a move. He had to study the place and the room to ensure he wasn’t compromising Lucy and his safety when he tried to reach out to Emerald again.
