Chapter 7: Bad Temper
Chapter 7: Bad Temper
The next morning.
Macy wakes up early and checks news coverages about the Downey’s. It turns out to be nothing new.
Even the news about her yesterday has disappeared.
The news was probably withdrawn by the Penn’s because it harmed the Penns’ reputation.
She unconsciously relieves, assuming the reasons of the disappeared news. Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
Macy takes a long-been-ready loan agreement with her in the afternoon and drives herself to the hotel
where she is going to have an appointment with Manson.
Before she set off, Sunny gave her a small bag of powder. It may enable her to get rid of Manson in the
proper timing.
It’s the peak hour in the evening, the traffic is quite heavy. Macy’s car has a puncture shortly after it
enters the main road.
This road is in maintenance so it has few cars. Macy looks at the time on the phone and gets a little
grumpy. She calls the trailer after holding her temper.
At the time when Macy is in a chaos, rays from the headlights of a car are cast beside Macy.
The window of the back seat opens gradually, the noble and cold face of Yusef shows up.
“Did your car break down?”
“Yus…How come you are here?”
This road is the nearest road to the Emperor Hotel. Less cars pass it because of the construction.
Emperor Hotel is one of the most famous star hotel of the City Marea. Many business tycoons love
having business negotiations there.
Yusef doesn’t answer Macy’s question. He just roughly looks around and says, “Are you going to the
Emperor Hotel? I can give you a ride.”
“I don’t need a ride.” Macy rejects without a second thought.
They have made it very clear about what happened that night. She doesn’t want to have any
connections with the Penns.
“It’s getting late. Are you staying here to wait for the stray dogs?” Here comes the cold voice of that
man.
Macy’s slender body is quivering. She can’t help mumbling, “You are much scarier than stray dogs.”
“Speak up. Macy Downey.”
Macy looks into his eyes, “Mr. Penn, we are literally strangers. It’s not reasonable for you to give me a
ride. I will wait here.”
“Is that so?”
Yusef’s eyebrow rises. A playful expression is made with his long and narrow eyes. “Strangers? Were
we strangers on the bed?”
“You…”
Macy is a little bit annoyed. When she is about to retort on him, the wound on her ankle is torn again.
She gasps heavily, which draws Yusef’s attention.
Yusef’s gaze swiftly shifts after it stays on Macy very shortly. His words are even stronger, “Get on the
car and don’t waste my time!”
Macy grips her own hands and feels a little nervous seeing the unlit streetlights, which make the road
as dark as ink.
She hesitates for a while and gets on the car eventually.
She turns her head when she just shut the car door and looks into Yusef’s teasing eyes by accident.
Macy drops her head and moves away. She is less gutsy today.
They don’t talk to each other on the way. Macy wants to explain further about what happened last night,
but she doesn’t dare to because she is afraid that her explanation will only bring another humiliation.
When Macy is getting off after opening the car door. There comes the magnetic voice of Yusef, “Macy
Downey.”
She freezes and looks at him confusedly.
Yusef doesn’t make any expressions and says, “A product will be less valuable if it has been purchased
for more times. You have to be clear about that.”
“What do you mean?” Macy frowns.
Seeing her gloomy expression, Yusef’s lips curve and he switches his gaze with satisfaction. He said to
the chauffeur, “Let’s go.”
“Yusef, you make it clear!”
She wants to ask him further but Yusef’s car disappears very quickly on the street.
His words are like a fierce slap on her face. It’s burning.
