Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis)

Chapter 837 Not Only Am I Alive

Gerald had discussed it with his wife, and they decided that Sofie could not die for the time being.

If she were to die, Bailey's wish to avenge Artemis would also be fulfilled.

Once that happened, Bailey would probably die alongside his son.

He was a man, so his emotions were often not as intense as those of a woman's.

But she was the mother of his grandchildren, and he did want his grandsons and granddaughter to lose

both their parents at a young age.

Hence, he was still going to do it despite knowing that it would be cruel of him.

Only by protecting Sofie and igniting the flame of revenge in her could he keep her alive instead of

watching helplessly as she took her own life.

After a moment of silence, the man in black cautiously said, “Sofie has Mr. Lowe's wife in her hands.

He's being blackmailed and will turn off all defenses at the headquarters when the time comes to allow

her to attack unimpeded. However, I reckon Bailey must have promised him that she would rescue Ms.

Hoffman. So, I'm guessing this is a trap they've set for her. Once she leads everyone into Tarragon,

Holden will spring the trap and capture them all.”

Gerald nodded.

That was pretty much what he had guessed.

Indeed, the power in Sofie's hands needed to be dismantled so she would not have the ability to stir up

trouble anymore.

But she could not die yet.

“Figure out a way to save her.”

The breathing of the man in black suddenly turned heavy.

Through the moonlight spilling down from above, a trace of surprise could vaguely be seen flittering

across his face.

“Did you misspeak, or did I mishear you, Mr. Luther?”

Gerald narrowed his eyes at the man, his voice cold and detached. “You heard me right, and I didn't

misspeak. I want you to figure out a way to save Sofie.”

“But she poisoned Mr. Artemis, and he died because of her.”

Gerald waved a hand, saying somewhat impatiently, “You don't need to know my reasons. Just do as I

say. Do everything in your power to save Sofie, then bring her to me. Understood?”

The man in black dared not question his employer any further. He nodded and said, “I will do my

utmost best.”

“All right, go and make plans.”

Meanwhile, Sofie and the Dominic engaged in a fierce battle in the forest at the foot of the mountain.

For two consecutive days, the sounds of gunfire rang out incessantly in the dense primeval forest.

The pungent smell of blood permeated the mountain stream, so intense that even the animals in the

mountain sensed the aura of death and all scattered and fled.

The two days were a torment for Bailey. Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

Unable to advance or retreat, she could only stay on the mountaintop, constantly inhaling the pervasive

stench of blood.

There were several times when Artemis wanted to start the private jet to send her away, but she always

stopped him.

Right then, Dominic and Sofie's men were at the foot of the mountain. If they abruptly started the

private jet, it would alert the two parties to their presence.

After planning for so long and arriving at that critical juncture, they could not give up simply because

she could not stand the stench of blood.

In the blink of an eye, two days flew past. The fierce battle between the two parties was drawing to an

end.

As expected, Dominic was steadily losing ground. Four-fifths of his men had been killed, and the

remainder ended up chased all over the mountain by Sofie's men.

Some chickened out and wanted to escape but ended up being wiped out by Ken, who was guarding

the perimeter. Not a single one was left.

On a cliff in the northeast, Dominic and dozens of his remaining assassins charged up the hillside.

From his vantage point, he could clearly see men in black surging toward him in all directions.

“The tide has turned, and it's impossible to reverse it now. Verily, there's nothing to be done. It seems

that God really wants to end me. He truly wants me dead.”

As he spoke, two trails of tears slowly trickled down his cheeks.

Beside him, a high-ranking subordinate prompted in a quivering voice, “M-Mr. Doyle, we have no way

out now. Should we... surrender?”

Dominic was furious. He kicked the man's calf, forcing him to kneel down.

“I'm warning you all that there's no surrendering. Nobody is allowed to surrender. Even if it means

dying, we must—”

Before he could finish speaking, countless whooshing sounds suddenly filled the air.

“Enemy attack! Be on guard!” someone warned loudly at the side.

Unfortunately, it was already too late.

In just a brief moment, all the assassins had fallen to the ground, dead.

Their foreheads were pierced by silver needles, killed with a single strike.

Dominic was so frightened that he collapsed onto the ground. He scanned his surroundings warily,

bellowing, “Who's there? Who's playing tricks? Show yourself!”

“Old geezer, you're already at a ripe old age, yet your voice is still so loud, huh? Why, are you so

worried that Sofie wouldn't know you're here, thus eagerly leading her over?”

Dominic abruptly turned around.

Once he made out the person who was speaking, his pupils began to constrict violently as though he

had suffered a tremendous blow.

“I-It's you? B-Bailey, you, you... you're actually still alive?”

With a smile on her face, Bailey slowly stepped to the side, clearing a path for Artemis, who was

standing behind her.

“Not only am I alive, but so is my husband.”

Dominic went speechless.

He was so shocked that he was at a loss for words, his eyes brimming with astonishment.

A-Artemis? He isn't dead? They... They're both alive? Haha, I initially thought I was the only fool here.

But now, it seems the woman rushing up the hill is no better. We're all fools, completely turned around

by this couple!

“Good! Great, in fact! Finally, I feel at peace. Since I can't have it, that wretched woman shouldn't

dream of having it either. You two will kill her, right?”

Artemis raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly. “Of course, I know you're resentful, Mr. Doyle. So here

I am, coming over specially to see you off for the last time. Also, let me tell you that there's no need to

fear you'd be lonely in the afterlife. The woman at the foot of the mountain will soon join you.”

Dominic burst into raucous laughter.

“Indeed, the younger generation will surpass the older. I've been powerful all my life, but I never

imagined I would meet my downfall at the hands of two young individuals. It's both tragic and

lamentable. But being able to drag that vicious woman down with me realizes one of my wishes. I

should thank you both.”

Artemis gave a him chilling smile, a hint of murderous intent flashing in his hawk-like eyes.

His palm lifted slightly, and a silver needle flew out, piercing into Dominic's forehead dead-center.

Ken approached with a few subordinates and inclined his head, saying, “Mr. Luther, all the people we

shot earlier have been thrown off the cliff. Sofie's men will be here any minute. We need to leave

quickly, or we'll be caught red-handed.”

Artemis's gaze fell on Dominic, his voice cold and detached. “Move him to the edge of the cliff. When

Sofie arrives, we'll stage it to look like he jumped off.”

“Understood.”

Not long after Artemis and his entourage left, Sofie arrived with her subordinates.

From a distance, she saw Dominic standing with his head bowed at the edge of the cliff.

“Haha, you've run out of options, haven't you, old geezer? If you kneel and beg me, maybe I'll let you

live like a dog...”

Before she could finish speaking, Dominic plunged right off the cliff.

Sofie cursed vehemently a couple of times.

Then, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her communicator. She sent a message to Holden.

It read: Turn off the defenses at headquarters and open the passage. I'm now going to lead the attack

on the Tarragon Headquarters.
