Chapter 31. Kiss
Briana POV
“Are you alright?” Anthony Goldstone a ed after the conference.
We walked out ahead of the others because I felt like my whole body was burning.
Sitting with your ex sucks.
“I’m fine, Anthony. Can you and Martina wait for me in the car? I’ll just need to freshen up.” I told him.
Anthony seemed reluctant to go. He looked at my face for a while before nodding his assent.
When he and Martina left, I went to the powder room, following the directions of one of the staff.
I looked at my flushed face in the mirror and groaned.
It was so hard keeping myself together, appearing nonchalant while your ex–husband sat right next to you.
It was discomfiting, at the least.
Throughout the conference, I was so anxious. I wanted to make the hands of time move faster so I could go.
Noah was the only man in my life, and though I hated him for the last five years, seeing him and sitting next to him shook my insides to the core.
I realized, much to my dismay, that Noah still has that same effect
on me.

I bit my lip hard in frustration over my response to his nearness. All through the duration of the conference, I could not breathe, knowing his body was a few inches away from me, and any time I would move, there was a possibility tha ur skin would touch.
I was a ball of nerves this entire time.
Immediately, I pushed the tap and splashed cold water on my face. The coldness seeped through my skin, cooling my insides down.
Then, I pulled sheets of paper towels from the dispenser to pat dry my face.
The splashing did me good, and when I got out of the restroom, I felt refreshed and rejuvenated, but that was fleeting because the minute I stepped out, a hand gripped me and dragged me to the emergency stairs.
I sensed familiarity in the touch and cringed inside.
“What do you think you are doing, Hunter?” I asked when the door to the emergency exit closed on us.
I was left shaken by my body’s response to the simple touch, yet I stood my ground. Noah is part of my past. Nothing more.
“Why were you ignoring me?” He shot back.
I snorted at the audacity of the man.
Is he hearing himself talk? Did he have a screw loose somewhere?
“And it matters because?”
Noah looked stunned. He let go of my hand to brush his hair back.
He looked around us like he was floundering for the right words to

“The last time I checked, you hated the sight of me, Hunter,”I pointed out.
I don’t know what happened to him but his face immediately transformed from one of confusion to anger,
“Yes, I hated you, Briana, for making a fool of me. I pity Ford because he has not caught on. If he realizes what kind of a despicable woman you are, I bet he would leave you just as fast as I did!”
I did not know what happened,
My hands flew straight to his cheeks. It was forceful enough to make his eyes reddened in anger at me.
Then, the next thing I knew, Noah was kissing me – again.
He was kissing me like his life depended on it.
It was hard and punishing. I grabbed the front of Noah’s shirt to push him away, but since he was taller and bulkier, I could not make him budge.
Tears sprung to my eyes in helplessness. I could not believe that every time we would meet, we would end up with him ravishing my mouth like this.
Then, the nature of his kiss changed.
At first, it was full of pain, frustration, and anger, and the next second, the kiss was filled with remorse and tenderness as his lips glided through my mouth.
Noah’s hands lifted to my face to gently hold my jaw in place.
“Open your mouth.” He rasped.
He sounded like he was trying so hard to control himself. I
detected a slight tremor in his voice, and my sense of preservation collapsed.
I am not crazy. I still hated Noah, but when he told me to open up, I did.
I could not stop myself from following his orders because it felt like I was on the arid ground, too needy and thirsty for that sprinkling of raindrops.
I heard him groan as he massaged my jaw.
Then, he mumbled, “Thank you” between our opened lips.
I could taste his breath, and my nerve endings had gone haywire. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
I heard a groan.
But before Noah could begin marauding my mouth again, we heard a thud.
Something dropped on the floor.
We looked simultaneously at the source of the sound, and I was appalled to see one of the staff looking at us wide–eyed.
That brought me back to my senses.
I looked at Noah’s flushed face and could not believe what I had done or what I had allowed him to do.
I walked out.
