Chapter 27 - Eavesdropping
"Jadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Jadanelaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
The woman twitched when she heard that ear-piercing voice. Even with her eyes closed, she already knew who's causing the disturbance. 'What's up with him again? Is there an emergency?'
Still half asleep, Jada forced herself up from the bed and opened the door of her room. She peeked outside to see what was going on.
She was startled when Bambi pushed the door and pulled her out. "Care to explain?" flicking an eyebrow at her, Bambi lip-pointed the bouquet on the coffee table. Jada bent down to pick up the card that came with it. She needs to check or Bambi won't let go of her.
'See you tonight! - D.'
"Oh, it's from Daniel," then she passed the card to the pink. She laid down on the couch, closed her eyes and tried sleeping again.
"Daniel who?" Honey asked from nowhere.
"Daniel Agosti," Jada responded without opening her eyes.
"Daniel Agosti? Daniel Agosti as in the popular race car driver?" Bambi asked in full exaggeration.
Jada nodded in confirmation. She doesn't know but all of a sudden, she felt tired and sleepy. And at the moment, she's extremely annoyed that Bambi disturbed her rest.
They just finished the last leg of the event at Centro. They had shows for three straight nights and that's the exact reason why she's drained of energy. "How-" Bambi was about to ask but the doorbell rang.
"Good morning, your hotness! Come in Ly!"
Jada wanted to greet Lyken, but she couldn't open her eyes. They feel heavy, as if something's keeping them closed.
"What happened?" he asked, pointing at Jada.
"Well, they had their last show last night. I don't even know how she managed to come home," Bambi informed him. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
"So Jada, how-" Bambi started but he was interrupted by the doorbell, again.
"Good morning hotties!" He greeted Kobe, Steve and Robin.
They, too, asked what happened to Jada and Bambi repeated what he told Lyken. Then they started talking, but Jada wasn't even bothered by the topic.
"What time are you leaving babe?" Honey asked Kobe.
"Her secretary said she'll be here at two in the afternoon, so we're leaving after lunch. It's Saturday anyway so there won't be traffic," Kobe answered as he pulled Jada's shorts down and fixed her top. "Who are you picking up by the way?" Honey pry.
"Daughter of our client. She's in charge of supervising the project," it was Lyken who responded to her.
"Hey, Rob! Why are you eating that? That's for Jada!" Bambi exclaimed.
"Dude, I'm hungry! Ja, I'll just buy you another one," Robin told her, but due to lack of energy, she can only raise a hand to give him a thumbs up.
"Jada I'm putting the flowers on a vase," Bambi informed her and she did the same to him in response.
"You want coffee Ja?" Honey asked and she shook her head as she rolled to her stomach. She doesn't even know what she looks like at the moment.
"Ja, I'm noticing something," it was Steve, "the longer you stay here, the shorter your clothes get," then he laughed.
Jada raised a middle finger at him, making him laugh harder. He was about to say something but it was interrupted by Bambi's ear-piercing squeal.
"Jadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Why are you so gorgeous?" he asked in his most annoying tone.
Jada stood up, kicking the couch and glaring at him, "Bam, have mercy! Don't you have the heart to at least let me rest?" she snapped.
"Sorry Ja, I just can't help it. I thought you only got flowers and chocolates, but then there's this," he responded as he showed her what he has in hand. She looked at it closely and it took her a while to realize that it was a charm bracelet. "Where did you get that?" Honey asked.
"It was tied to one of the stems," he replied.
He then walked towards Jada and put it on her wrist. "There you go! A replacement for the one you threw away!" he happily announced.
Her eyes widened in shock. She saw Lyken clenched his jaw so she kicked Bambi to stop him from babbling nonsense. He covered his mouth when he realized what he just said.
"Oops! Sorry, I just got too excited," then he threw a peace sign at Lyken before picking up the flowers and an empty vase.
"From whom did those come from and Bambi's feeling ecstatic?" Steve asked out of curiosity.
"It's from Daniel," Jada told him as she pushed him away, lying on the couch with her head on his lap.
"It's from the one and only Daniel Agosti, Steve!" Bambi clarified.
Robin's eyes widen in surprise as he continues to devour the chocolates, "Daniel Agosti? The race car driver?" he asked as he chewed.
"Yes, none other than the popular race car driver," Bambi echoed as he entered Jada room with the flower vase.
When he came out, he already had Jada's phone in hand, "You got three missed calls, goddess," then he passed it onto her.
Jada checked the call log only to see two missed calls from Daniel and one from Kristoff. She was about to place her phone down on the table when it started ringing so she had no choice but to answer it.
"Hi, good morning... Tired... Yeah, the event ended late last night... Tonight?... I can't make it, I'm going out for dinner tonight... Yeah, sure, next time... Ok bye!"

"Who's that?" Bambi asked, intrigued.
"Kristoff!"
She was about to lay down when her phone rang again. An unknown number registered on the screen so she didn't bother answering it.
But because Bambi's hands are itchy, she slides the green button, "No, no this is not Jada... Yes, this is her number... Wait..." they heard him tell the caller.
Jada creased her forehead when he passed the phone to her. He then mouthed "Daniel" before letting out a squeal.
"Hello?... Yeah, sorry I missed your calls, I just woke up... Yep I got it... Of course, but I hope you don't mind me asking. What is it for?... Aw thanks! How did you know?... Ohhh... Yeah, sure... You don't really have to, I can drive... Ok, if you insist... Alright, see you tonight!"
When she ended the call, she laid down again. Bambi continued his squealing ritual while Jada forced herself to sleep.
"What did he say byotch?" he asked, shaking her leg.
Opening her eyes, she glared at Bambi. But just like what he did to Lyken, he just showed her a peace sign.
"Your suitors are early birds Ja, they don't want to be left behind," Robin chimed.
"Ohhh, that's why Lyken's here early," Steve added and they burst into laughter.
"Dumbass!" she snapped at Steve, then she turned to Bambi, "He said the bracelet was a gift."
"For what?" It's Honey this time.
"He said Mama Vane told him that it's my birthday in three days."
"In fairness, Mama Vane's really good at playing cupid!" Bambi stated as he squirmed.
After a while, her phone started ringing again. It was Daniel, for the second time. "Hi!... My friends? What about them?... Ok, hold on..." she covered the mouthpiece of her phone and turned to Honey. "He's asking if you guys wanna join us at the club tonight?"
Robin quickly raised a hand, "I'm in, that's Daniel Agosti man! I'm interested!"
"I can go, I'm free tonight," Steve stated.
"Go, I'll text Ada," Bambi told her.
Honey and Kobe looked at each other before Kobe nudged at Lyken. "Kobe and I will join," Honey confirmed.
Lastly was Lyken, "Sure, I'll come too after the meeting."
She nodded at them before going back to her phone. She told Daniel that her friends are coming then he ended the call.

A few more minutes later, Honey started calling them to eat, but Jada really doesn't have the energy to move. Instead, she checked her phone again and realized that Lyken was still on the couch. "Let's go, Ly, let's eat!"
"Sure, I'll be there in a sec," he responded.
She pulled him out and didn't let go of his hand until he stood up. Then they walked towards the kitchen. After having lunch, they went back to the living room.
Jada excused herself to smoke and left them in her living room. As soon as she stepped out, she heard Bambi scream.
She knew they'll be talking about the calls again, so she made a sound as if the door was closed. But she deliberately left it open, she wanted to hear what they're going to say.
"You mean Daniel Agosti is one of Jada's suitors? Wow!" Robin exclaimed.
Steve gasped as they confirmed the information. "Well, I can't blame Agosti, Jada's really gorgeous!"
"True!" Honey agreed, "Even when Jada was new, she earned tons of suitors already. Even when we were still in Singapore."
"I remember even a Senator's son courted her, I saw that in the newspaper," Kobe added.
"To be honest, Jada really got big shot suitors. I don't know why she's just ignoring them," Bambi smirked.
Jada wanted to retaliate as she listened to Honey and Bambi blabber about her. She wants to go back and scold her friends, but she stops herself.
"Ly, you never had a girlfriend too after you broke up with Jada right?" Honey asked.
"Yeah, she never had a girlfriend but she got spare tires. Even when he was with Jada, he cheats on her," Bambi sneered and Kobe shut him up.
Bambi's savage! He really doesn't know when to shut his mouth. Jada can only shake her head as she listens to their conversation.
Though Jada's arm was already feeling numb, she still can't let go of the door. As they continued gossiping, she continued listening.
"But you and Jada are ok now right? You said you're friends," Steve asked.
Honey nodded at him before turning to Lyken, "Yeah, you managed to tie all loose ends between the two of you?"
"Then maybe you two can start dating someone else again," Robin chirped.
"I agree, since you're both single and you don't seem to have any plans of reconciling, then why don't you guys let yourselves explore!" Kobe suggested.
No one spoke after that. They all stayed quiet. Jada suddenly felt anxious that they might have found out that she's listening.
"Wait guys, Lyken seems jealous," Kobe broke the silence.
Again, no one responded. No one even refuted what he said. Even Lyken didn't bother answering.
'Was he really jealous? Could it be that he doesn't want me to go out on dates? Hey wait, why do I care?'
