Chapter 25 - Interrogation
Lyken managed to convince Jada that he'll take her to the event. He won't get in so he didn't bother changing clothes.
He decided not to drink yet, too. He wants Jada to feel secure since he's driving. Even back then, she didn't want him to drive when he drank, even just a sip.
"Ly are you ok?" Honey asked, worry written on her face.
"Never been better," he answered smiling.
Lyken admits that he's still hopeful that they will reconcile, as boyfriend and girlfriend. But he also chose not to push the case. For now, he just wants to enjoy her company.
Of course, he wants to know more about Jada 2. 0. Everything happened so fast but he won't ask for anything more than what happened that day.
Honey nodded at his response while Kobe tapped my shoulder. Everything feels better even with his situation with Jada being like this, friends.
Although they're not intimate because of the said friendship, He won't exchange it for anything. He'd rather be friends with her than enemies. "Hollywood star!" Ada exclaimed and everyone was surprised.
Lyken followed his line of sight and his mouth fell open when he saw Jada come out of her room. She was stunning.
She's wearing an off-shoulder pencil-cut gown with a high slit. She paired it with not-too-tall ankle strap heels.
When she turned around, he saw that her back was exposed, he scrunched his nose in dismay. But aside from that, she's gorgeous.
"Adore my creation!" Bambi smugly presented her.
Her hair was fixed in a high bun, showing off her small face and slender neck. He was stunned at the sight of her.
He didn't even notice that she approached him. Lyken only came to his senses when someone closed his mouth.
"Shall we?" Jada asked, standing right in front of him.
"Mr. Fontanilla! You looked like you were bitten by a snake!" Ada chuckled.
Lyken smiled awkwardly and felt his cheeks blushing. 'It's so embarrassing!' He whispered to himself.
He nodded at Jada before offering an arm to her. She hooked her arm to his without second thoughts then they bid their friends goodbye.
When they were out, Lyken heard her sigh, "Why?" he asked, confused and worried at the same time. He can't help but recall the story Bambi told them, about the sponsor who took advantage of her. "I'm just a little nervous. When there are local events, there are lots of popular models who attend," then she smiled anxiously.
He lifted her head to face him and their eyes met, "Ja you're the prettiest. There's no reason for you to be nervous," he told her, almost in a whisper.
He suddenly remembered. Back then, when she was nervous or not confident about something, he'll just remind her she was the best and she'll be okay.
Back then, his words of encouragement were more than enough to boost her confidence. He doesn't know if it's the same until now, but it's worth trying.
Lyken felt like someone touched his heart when she smiled and hugged him. That's what she used to do when he managed to calm her down. So he guess it still works and that made him happier that night. The event had already started when they arrived. Before she could get out of the car, Lyken grabbed her hand, "Will you take long?" he asked shyly.
"Maybe thirty to forty minutes at most. Just to give the sponsors and Mama Vane enough time to see me. I'll just make an excuse so I can leave."
"Can I... Can I wait for you at the parking lot?" He asked, worried whether she'll agree or not. Fortunately, she smiled and nodded.
His lips broke into a smile too and the anxiety he was feeling was swept away. "Text me when you're about to go out so I can drive the car to the entrance."
"Ok, thanks Ly!" she responded before opening the door of the car and stepping out.
She went straight to the entrance of the venue, fixed herself then headed inside. He can see how the men she passes by eye her from head to toe. He suddenly felt jealous.
Sighing, he can't help but wish that he can accompany her inside. Hopefully next time. 'Next time, Lyken Fontanilla.'
After no more than 40 minutes, Jada's out of the venue. She's standing by the entrance, texting Lyken that they can already go, but he's not responding.

Fifteen minutes later, she decided to head to the parking lot. Looking around, she spotted Lyken's car not far from the venue's entrance and was amused when she saw him sleeping with the window open. Jada couldn't help but laugh as the man slapped himself to get rid of the mosquitoes. She even took a picture of him but forgot to turn off the flash.
"What the fuck?!" he blurted out.
She gasped and covered her mouth as she didn't expect him to wake up. He was irritated because of what happened and it was evident when he opened his eyes.
Anger registered on his face but it was quickly replaced by shock when he saw Jada standing right outside the car. He quickly opened the door as he creased his forehead at her.
"Hey Ja! How long have you been standing here? Why didn't you wake me up?" he asked, scratching the back of his head.
Jada grinned and threw a peace sign, "Sorry, you were sleeping like a baby. I don't have the heart to wake you up."
"Silly! Is it over?" he asked, referring to the event. Jada nodded at him, still unable to get rid of the silly smile on her face. He looked at her with his brows creased.
"I just found you cute sleeping. You were so pissed at the mosquitoes," she told him, letting go of the laugh she's been holding in.
Scratching his forehead, he glanced at her awkwardly, "Sorry I cursed. I really thought paparazzi were taking my picture."
"I told you not to come with me. You look really tired right now," she pouted, worried about him.
When she came back from Europe, his eyebags were the first thing she noticed. Even a good and expensive concealer can't do something about it, as well as his dark circles. He looked like he hadn't slept for days. "Nah. I'm fine. We can go now since you're done," he told her.
Jada narrowed her eyes at him, pointing at his eyebags, "Why do you have those? How often do you stay up late? Work? Woman? Who are you staying up late for?"
She was serious about her questions but she put them in a way that it would sound like she was just teasing him. He's not obliged to answer her but she really wants to know.
"No... work..." he answered immediately.
"So woman? Or women?"
Lyken shook his head then walked to the passenger side of his car to open the door. "Let's go?" he asked.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
"Aha! So it's a girl?!" she chuckled. She felt a pinch in her heart but she chose to ignore it. "Who is it, Ly? You have a girlfriend now?"
"Jadanela, please stop. Get inside, let's go home," he ordered, trying to avoid her question.
"Hand me the key, I'll drive," extending her hand, waiting for him to hand the key to her.
She really doesn't like it when he drives while under the influence of alcohol or when he's feeling sleepy. Hopefully, he hasn't forgotten that.
"No, I'll drive," he insisted. Jada frowned at him but Lyken just creased his forehead at her.
"You know I don't like you driving when you're sleepy," she pouted.
He tends to be irritable when he's sleepy and he might end up in a fight. He scratched his head as he handed her the key.
Jada wore her seatbelt before starting the engine. She saw him grab the overhead handle, tightening his grip on it after putting his seatbelt on. She can't help but chuckle.
While driving, she kept glancing and smiling at him, teasing. "Eyes on the road Ja," he reminds her.
"You're really good at avoiding questions. So who was it you're staying up late for?" She asked again.
Lyken just shook his head without giving her any answer, still. Discontented, she didn't stop asking until they reached her condo.
"Who is it?" She asked again before he could get in.
"I already told you, there's no one."
She can feel that he's about to get annoyed, but she doesn't really care. Back then, he could easily stop her from bugging him but it's different this time.
'I have to know what's up with him!'
