Chapter 257
Barclay cleared his throat, reaching out to lift her chin. "What are you apologizing for?"
"I made you miss your flight," she said, though it wasn't intentional.
"I'll make it. I'm leaving now. You stay put and wait for the doctor, okay?"
"Okay," she acquiesced.
She dared not say more, fearing any additional words might truly make Barclay miss his flight.
His thumb lightly brushed against her swollen knee for a moment before Barclay withdrew his hand.
Moira pursed her lips. "I'm really not moving. You should hurry and catch your plane."
"Yeah, call me if anything comes up."
Barclay rose to his feet, giving her one last glance before turning to leave.
As he did, Barclay coincidentally encountered Rose, who was preparing breakfast.
Upon seeing Barclay, Rose instinctively stepped aside, waiting for him to pass before entering the villa. This wasn't the first time such a situation had arisen. Typically, Barclay would simply pass by her side. Barclay was aloof and not particularly fond of company, a fact Rose was well aware of. She didn't mind. She could always communicate with Moira, who was easygoing enough.
Rose had initially assumed that this time would be like any other, but Barclay surprised her by stopping after passing her. "Ms. Graham." It was the first time Rose had heard Barclay address her like that, and her heart skipped a beat. "Mr. Covington, what can I do for you?" "Mrs. Covington bumped her knee. Keep an eye on her and wait for the family doctor to arrive."
Rose nodded repeatedly. "Of course, Mr. Covington, I understand."
Barclay gave a slight nod and then turned to leave.
Hearing Barclay's words, Rose also became worried. When she saw Barclay leaving, she quickly turned and entered the villa. Inside the villa, Rose saw Moira sitting on the sofa, with the bruised knee she hadn't even had a chance to pull her pant leg down over.
"Oh my! Mrs. Covington, how did you manage to hurt yourself so badly?"
Rose approached cautiously, not daring to touch Moira.
Moira looked embarrassed as she glanced at Rose. "I just bumped into something."
It wasn't really that serious. At least she could still walk.
"Bumping your knee can be serious! Mr. Covington just informed me that the family doctor will be here soon. Mrs. Covington, you stay seated here for how. Don't move, in case you've injured your bone. Moxing around recklessly could make it worse!"
Moira hadn't expected Barclay, who rarely spoke to Rose, to give her instructions for such a matter.
She lowered her gaze, looking at the bruise on her knee. She touched it lightly, feeling the pain, yet strangely feeling a warm sensation inside.
'Oh, Moira, you're really falling hard,' she wondered.
"Mrs. Covington, did you have breakfast?"
Moira was about to say she hadn't eaten when her stomach growled loudly, making the situation even more awkward.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
She glanced at Rose, who chuckled. "I'll go make breakfast. How about some pasta?"
"Sure, that sounds good," Moira replied, feeling like she just wanted some time alone.
Rose smiled and headed to the kitchen, leaving Moira alone on the sofa. Moira looked at her phone on the table. After hesitating for a moment, she decided to share the embarrassing morning with Juliet.
She had thought Juliet would still be asleep at this hour, but as soon as she sent the message, Juliet's reply came almost instantly. [It was Valentine's Day yesterday. Why are you up so early today?] Juliet: [Didn't you two have any intimate time last night?]
Moira was momentarily stunned.
She shouldn't have started chatting with Juliet. It would've been fine to scroll through posts alone!
Seeing Moira's lack of response,
Juliet quickly corrected herself.
[Sorry, Moira! Is your knee okay? Do you need to go to the hospital? It's Sunday today. How about I come over and accompany you to the hospital?]
Now, that was what a friend should say!
Moira snorted and replied to her. [Hmph, no need. The family doctor will be here soon.]
Juliet: [Having money really does make things easier, huh?]
