Shattered Vows Shining Comeback

Chapter 20

Chapter 20 Never Make the Same Mistake Again

Jake’s dark eyes were colder than ever. He’d never seen Gwen act like this. Ever since the divorce, her behavior had become wilder, as if she were a horse that had broken free from its reins, completely out of control.

“You’ve stooped so low as to lay your hands on a pregnant woman? I was wrong about you,” he said, his voice dripping with disappointment.

Gwen raised an eyebrow, her tone casual “You were right. This is exactly who I am.

She didn’t owe him or anyone else an explanation.

With a sharp, cold voice, she added, “Haven’t you two caused enough drama? Isn’t it about time you

“Gwen, watch your tone,” Jake warned, his expression tense, eyes blazing with fury.

left?”

“oh? Did you think I’d still grovel and apologize to you? Keep dreaming.” Gwen sneered, her lips curling with derision.

Jake… I’m in so much pain…” Sienna’s pitiful and trembling voice broke through the tension. Jake looked down at her, still cradling her in his arms.

Tears streamed down her pale, delicate face, her hand protectively resting on her belly as if she might faint at any moment. Her right cheek, still red from the slap, made her look all the more fragile.

Jake frowned. “I’ll take you to the hospital”

He bent down and lifted Sienna up, the crowd immediately parting to make way for them. After a few steps, Jake stopped and looked back at Gwen.

“If anything happens to Sienna’s baby, I’ll hold you responsible.”

Yara, s

standing next to Gwen, rolled her eyes and shouted, “It was just a slap! What? Is her baby made of glass? Seriously, if you’re so tough, don’t leave! Let’s see who’s really scared here!

“Don’t waste your breath on someone like that.

Gwen didn’t even bother looking at Jake and Sienna as they walked away, her earlier smile slowly fading.

Yara threw an arm around Gwen’s shoulder. “Babe, you’re not still into that idiot, are you?”

Gwen let out a cold laugh. “I’ll never make the same mistake again.”

Those three years… had been a waste of time.

It was ridiculous that Jake couldn’t see through Sienna’s cheap, manipulative tactics. She was such an amateur pick- me. He was being played like a fool, and he didn’t even know it This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

The ride back to the hotel in the Rolls–Royce was drop–dead silent. Jake’s gaze briefly flicked to the sleeping Sienna before turning back to the project proposal in his hand.

“Thank God the doctors said Sienna’s baby is fine, or I’d be going after Gwen for sure!”

Caitlin furned from the front seat, her anger palpable. “That bitch! She’s gotten so cocky. I bet she hooked up some rich guy the last time she was in Dornwick–that’s why she’s acting all high and mighty!”

Jake’s face darkened, Caitlin’s voice grating on his nerves. Without a word, he tapped his iPad, pulled up a video, and tossed it to the front seat, where it landed on Caitlin’s lap.

“Watch that before you open your mouth again.”

Caitlin looked down and saw it was the security footage from the Elite Club earlier. Her heart sank as she watched herself in the video. Guilt washed over her, and she couldn’t bring herself to meet Jake’s gaze.

“Why did you provoke her on purpose?” Jake’s voice was ice–cold, his gaze fixed on Caitlin

“I didn’t mean to! I was just mad!” Caitlin, feeling cornered, tried to defend herself. “That woman pretended to be so in love with you but turned around and dumped you out of nowhere!

“Now she’s running wild in Dornwick, and I just happened to run into her. So, of course I wanted to put her in her place…” Her voice trailed off, growing weaker with each word.

“She didn’t even react to your nasty insults. How many times have you harassed her before today?”

Jake’s questions were becoming more pointed, and Caitlin, feeling pressured, snapped back. “You know how it was at home! Grandma treated her like a queen, even better than me! Except for Mom occasionally bringing up the baby thing, no one ever picked on her!”

Jake’s expression grew even darker upon hearing her words. It was true. Whenever he was home, it was always peaceful, without any major conflicts.

But now, thinking back to the possible mistreatment Gwen might have endured, he felt a surge of guilt.

Reaching for his phone, Jake began typing a message to Gwen.

At that moment, Gwen was lying on the hotel bed with Yara, chatting lazily. Her phone suddenly buzzed with a new message.

She glanced at it, immediately rolling her eyes. She couldn’t even summon the energy to be surprised anymore.
