Chapter 143
"Mr. Gulliford, why don't you get up first? We can have a proper chat."
Jessica was nonplussed. She hadn't told him to drink on her behalf. Instead, he was the one who insisted.
At that thought, she began wondering if she was being ungrateful despite having gained an advantage.
Trevor retracted his arms, sat aside, and tugged at his necktie while leaning against the couch after recomposing himself.
"What would you like to do, then? This... I didn't mean for it to happen either." She pouted, feeling helpless.
"So, who are you trying to push the blame onto?"
"How could you call that pushing the blame? Mr. Gulliford, you should know that I was unaware too. I'm a victim as well. But now that it has happened, it's meaningless to keep harping on this. What's most important is how to fix it," she replied sensibly, leaving fingerprints on the table as she dragged her slender fingers on it.
"Propose a solution, then."
He turned to look at her, his dark gaze flashing with slight evil thoughts.
"Fix it? Isn't that easy? All it depends on is if she's willing," he thought.
"This... is also considered one of your important matters. You should mull it over if you want that foreign beauty. Otherwise, a runway model, car model, or celebrity will do too. As for the money, I'll handle it."
She stuck out three fingers in utter seriousness while pursing her lips as though she had made a grand decision.
Hearing that, Trevor immediately held his chest with a hand.
"Is this what a heart attack feels like?" he mused.
Sometime later, when he recollected himself, he lifted his head to look at the woman.
An agonizing look flickered in his gaze. "Am I the kind of man who would look for any random woman in your heart? Do you think I'd settle with any acceptable woman?"
Although it wasn't appropriate for him to say that about himself, he felt like this was exactly what she meant.
"Of course not. That's not what I meant. You definitely have to look for one that suits your liking."
Jessica hurriedly waved, her tone pleasant as she suppressed the minor panic in her heart. She was the one in the wrong at present, so there was no way she could snap back.

"One that suits my liking?" Trevor seemed to have caught a vital detail. "You're right."
As soon as he said that, he pinned her down beneath him. Even though he did it with much strength, his actions were exceedingly gentle. "Mr. Gulliford, don't do this."
She pushed him on the chest, her eyes widening.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
"Didn't you say I should pick one that suits my liking?
I like you. Come on, then."
The moment he lowered his head, she used her palm to knock him out on the back of his neck.
In an instant, the man lost consciousness and collapsed above her.
She shoved him aside, feeling resigned. "He can't blame me for this. I had no choice," she remarked inwardly.
She then helped him back to his bedroom, threw him on the bed, and covered him with the quilt.
"You can't blame me for this, Trevor Gulliford. I did it for your sake. Now that you're sleeping it off, you won't have to make a decision or suffer the pains of the drug's effect. Isn't that killing two birds with one stone?" NovelDrama.Org
She rubbed her palms, then turned to return to her bedroom to have a good night's sleep.
However, when the sun rose the next morning, there were still no movements from Trevor's side.
"What's going on?" wondered Jessica.
She had been feeling uneasy all morning. Finally, at noon, she went to the man's room to take a look. To her shock, he had disappeared!
"Where is he? Could he have
abandoned me in this foreign country?" she mused, her eyes flickering helplessly. "Even if he's mad, he didn't have to do this, did he

She pulled out her phone and dialed Martin's number.
"What's the matter, Ms. Lockett?"
The man's tone was utterly deferential. After all, she was the internally acknowledged future wife of his boss. He dared not offend her at all.
