Chapter 39
Chapter 39
Chapter 39 Don’t Blame Yourself “Derrick, calm down!” Ervin pulled him back in a hurry. “It was an accident, and none of us expected this to happen.” The other hand overlapped and took Derrick’s hand, pulling it. It was Edmond. He grimaced, shielding Claudia behind himself, frowning, his handsome face grim. “Waldron’s crash had nothing to do with her. She wasn’t in the car.” Derrick grunted, gave Claudia a cold stare, and walked quickly to the door of the resuscitation room. Ervin glanced helplessly at Edmond. “Sorry, Derrick has a bad temper.” Edmond nodded faintly and glanced back at Claudia. Her eyes were red from crying. She used to have Rosalie to hate when her grandmother died, but now that something happened to Waldron, she could only blame herself. “Don’t cry.” Edmond’s voice softened. It was obvious that she was crying for another man, but he didn’t know why, he couldn’t bear to see her sad. “I don’t want to cry either…” Claudia wiped a tear from her eyes. She couldn’t control her tears for some reason. Edmond sighed, his hand just lifting. Claudia subconsciously ducked away, staring intently at the resuscitation room in order to ease her embarrassment. Edmond pursed his lips. He didn’t know how long it took, and Waldron was finally pushed out of the resuscitation room. The doctor/took off his mask and said to Ervin outside the door, “The patient is still in a coma and is not out of danger. His situation may get better or worse, so you have to be men tally prepared.” Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Ervin’s face was full of worry, slightly tired under his gold-rimmed glasses. “Thank you, doctor.” Edmond walked over and told them what he had found out, “The big truck used a fake license plate and ran off after hitting him.” Derrick’s face grimaced, and Ervin’s face also became cold. “Thanks.” Ervin gave him a deep look. Some people had special connections and were able to check out the inner details firsthand, and Edmond was one such person.
Rumor had it that Edmond became a different person after Tristen’s death. From cynical son to the head of the Lamont family, Edmond had turned around the Lamont family’s tumultuous situation with his own strength. Just from the fact that he had gotten the news in the first place, it could show how powerful he was. Edmond sneered, “You’re welcome, but shouldn’t your brother have a say in blaming someone else for what happened to Waldron?” Ervin raised an eyebrow. Was this for Claudia? It looked like Edmond still had feelings for Claudia. Ervin walked over to Claudia, looked at Claudia’s crying and swollen eyes, and said softly, “My brother was worried about Waldron, and that’s why he was so mean to you. What happened to Waldron was an accident that had nothing to do with you, so you don’t have to blame yourself.”. Claudia gave a soft ‘hmm’, but her expression wasn’t exactly relaxed. She was still sad and worried. Edmond dropped his eyes as he watched her frown. “Ms. Lloyd, can I ask you a question?” Claudia looked at Ervin and nodded slowly. “Of course.” Ervin heard her voice h oa rse and could tell she was really worried about Waldron. Regardless of what happened before, at the moment, her worry for Waldron was genuine.
Ervin’s voice was gentle. “Did Waldron say why he was picking you up?” Claudia froze slightly, frowning at the memory. Waldron seemed to say why. She was not sure… She took her time to remember, and Ervin waited patiently. “I think she said he wanted to tell me something, that there was something he couldn’t say over the phone, and that he wanted to talk to me in person.” Claudia’s words made Ervin confirm the answer in his mind. If Waldron really said something like that, it meant Claudia really was their sister. Waldron called them to tell them the good news and got ready to pick up Claudia, supposedly with the intention of bringing Claudia home. Waldron had long suspected that Claudia was their sister, and with Waldron’s character, he would most likely take something to test it and tell them only when he was sure. Although Ervin couldn’t see the results of the test now, he had basically guessed the results. “Ms. Lloyd, don’t worry. Waldron is blessed with a great life and will be fine.” Not knowing how to comfort her, Ervin could only say this. Derrick glanced coldly at them and turned to Ervin. “Waldron isn’t out of danger yet, and you’re quite the comforter.” Claudia lowered her head. Derrick couldn’t say anything else when he saw her like that instead. “Let’s go.” Claudia opened her lips, her voice light and drifting as she looked at Edmond and said, “Finish what needs to be done.” They had to get a divorce today. Edmond glanced at Waldron, trying to talk her down, but eventually pursed his lips. After a life-and-death experience, she should be more determined to divorce and be with Waldron. Edmond’s heart grew softer at the thought of her bringing him out of the fire. She was such a person who would look out for others. The professional term for this was a pleaser personality. She was the kind of person who would bend
over backward for the sake of others. “She’d been married to me for a couple of years and had suffered a lot,” Edmond guessed. Now he was finally letting go. “Let’s go.” Edmond turned and walked forward at a brisk pace, He was afraid that if he waited any longer, he wouldn’t be able to let go. In front of the hospital, Rosalie had just hung up the phone, and her face was pale. Seeing Claudia and Edmond, Rosalie subconsciously asked, “Where are you going?” Claudia snorted, “Go where you want us to go. Rosalie didn’t say anything. She should have been happy that they were divorced, but just now she got a call from the guy looking for her for 800 thousand dollars urgently. How could she get 800 thousand dollars to give him at the moment? Rosalie thought of Elva. “Then you guys go ahead. I have things to do, and I’ll be back later to celebrate for you guys.” Rosalie walked quickly to the side, pulling away from them. Claudia felt Rosalie looked a bit suspicious. Claudia, however, didn’t care to keep probing, cager to do something to cover up her inner anxiety. A divorce that would bring at least some pain to her numb heart. Watching Claudia and Edmond leave, Rosalie rushed to dial Elva’s number. “Hey, Elva, I’ve done what you said, but I’m in desperate need of one…” Before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Elva angrily, “What did you do? How dare you find someone to kill my third brother! Rosalie, do you have any brains?” The thought of Waldron still out of danger made Elva want to slap Rosalie on the spot. “That’s my third brother. How could you get someone to hit him with a car? That’s my third brother, not a cat or a dog!” Elva anxiously kicked the chair next to her and sat down on the couch. Rosalie didn’t say anything. Elva’s anger slowly subsided.
“Never mind. What’s done is done. Has it been taken care of yet?” “I’m doing it now. He wants 800 thousand dollars. I don’t have that much money.” Elva was furious. “Wouldn’t you have set the price in advance before you had a deal with him? Isn’t it obvious that you’re letting people blackmail you? “You stu pid pig!” Elva took a deep breath. “Forget it. As long as he won’t say anything about this, he can get whatever he wants. Never let anyone in my family know that I asked you to do it.” Elva gritted her teeth. “Or I won’t be able to stay here.” Elva finished speaking and suddenly felt a line of sight behind her staring at her back. She turned around and saw a familiar face. “Splat,” the cell phone fell to the floor. “Mom… When did you get here?” 1
