Salute To The General

Chapter 2629

Chapter 2629

The next morning, Nathan brought Collins and the Elite Eight with him to visit Zion, intending to understand the situation. However, when they arrived at the offices of the Integrity Department's Special Investigation Unit, they were denied entry.

The gatekeepers stopped them with an emotionless expression on their faces.

The leader of the gatekeepers spoke in a monotonous, professional tone. "I'm sorry, Chief Cross, but we're not accepting visitors at the moment. Since you didn't make any appointments, you can't enter."

Nathan furrowed his eyebrows while his subordinates were enraged.

Colin exclaimed, "What did you say? Chief Cross enters the Cab and White House daily without anyone stopping him, so how can he be denied entry here? You lot are disrespecting him! Tell the person in charge of this place to come out and face the Chief Military Governor!"

Just as he finished, a cold sneer was heard.

"They're just doing their jobs, Mr. Dunne. Why are you taking out your anger on them? Besides, they aren't your troops. You don't have the right to punish them," Sigurd uttered once he stepped out of the office with his subordinates.

The gatekeepers made way for him as he walked out.

Sigurd still remembered the slap Colin had given him the previous day, and he was holding a grudge against Colin.

The two men glared at each other before Sigurd pretended to be surprised by Nathan's appearance. "Ah, I'm surprised you're personally paying us a visit, Chief Cross. Nice to meet you!"

Nathan stared at him and replied calmly, "Your place sure has far stricter rules than mine or the White House. I can't believe this place only accepts appointed visits."

Sigurd revealed a half-smile. "A lot of

have to conduct a strict screening for any and all visitors. For that, we can't accept a visit unless an

beforehand."

“I don't think so. When I just arrived, I saw someone entering the building without an appointment. They only needed to register something before going in."

"Chief Cross, are you saying that I'm intentionally making things difficult for you and preventing you from entering? Do I really look like that kind of person to you?"

Instead of answering, Nathan asked, "I'm here to meet Mr. Lucas and talk to him for a while. Can I go in?"

Leaving no room for negotiation, Sigurd shook his head and said firmly, "No!"

Nathan narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "Why is that someone else can just go in after registering their name while I can't?"

While Sigurd had a rank far lower than Nathan's, he wasn't showing any sign of fear at all because he thought he was invincible in his own territory.

He looked into Nathan's eyes. "We decide who gets to visit the suspects and who doesn't! This is our rule!"

It was then he realized the look in Nathan's eyes was frighteningly bonechilling A shiver ran down Sigurd's spine as he spoke. "You're the highest-ranking officer in the military, Chief Cross, and I heard the I army follow the rules without question. Shouldn't you, their leader, be doing the same?"

Nathan sneered, "So this is what

they mean by the devil is easy to

deal with, but the imps are tricky to handle. They must be describing someone like you! You think you're smart by reminding me that you' aren't part of the army and that you aren't under my jurisdiction. You also know how to use provocation! Not bad."

A bad feeling surged in Sigurd's heart as he stared at Nathan guiltily.

Nathan swept his gaze past Sigurd and his men. "I've now learned your rules. However, you haven't seen my rules yet. I think it's time for me to show you what my rules entail."
