Rekindling Her Affection (Sabrina and Nelson)

Chapter 77

Nelson gently ruffled Sabrina's hair.

However, his affectionate gesture made her feel uneasy.

At the age of 26, she was well past the age where she was easily blinded by love.

Sabrina wasn't as enthusiastic compared to Nelson's bright mood.

She wore a black V-neck loose sweater layered with a similarly colored undershirt. The minimalist look gave her a distant and elegant air, creating a sense of aloof beauty.

Nelson sat beside her and pulled her into his embrace.

He asked gently, "What's the matter? Is work troubling you?"

At that moment, he seemed like the perfect, caring husband, trying to soothe her and ease her worries.

"It's not about work. It's about you," she answered.

Nelson was momentarily stunned.

He lifted his gaze and looked at his beautiful wife, who smiled at him exactly as she had when he walked in earlier.

Since she was sitting on his lap, they were physically close to each other, and he noticed that her smile was superficial.

"Me? Are you upset because I didn't pick you up?" he asked.

"Let's eat first," Sabrina said, trying to get up.

However, Nelson gripped her waist.

As he looked up at her, the warmth in his eyes vanished. "Why? Are you afraid that you won't be able to eat after this?"

She met his gaze and ignored the coldness in his eyes. "Yes."

"What's bothering you again?" he asked.

Sabrina laughed at the word "again". If he had any love for her at all, he wouldn't have used that word.

At that moment, she felt the dinner was a waste of time.

"I want a divorce… again," she answered and mocked him for his choice of words.

In an instant, Nelson's expression turned cold.

He glanced at the food on the table and realized this was supposed to be their last meal together.

She was quite particular about customs.

Back in Panshaw, though she wasn't enthusiastic, she was at least obedient and let him hold her.

However, the idea that she may have only been cordial to him to stop Frederick from taking Abigail away infuriated him.

Nelson coldly stared at her as he picked her up and set her down on the dining table.

He gritted his teeth as he held onto her sides. "You really don't appreciate the affection I've shown you. Are you just going to discard me after using me?"

He pressed his body closer to her.

Sabrina gazed at him while taking a deep breath. "I can stay married, but I have one condition."

"Yeah?" Nelson replied.

"I won't divorce you if Pamela goes to jail," she said.

Nelson pursed his lips tightly. "So you knew about it. When did you find out?"

Sabrina's eyes reddened.

It was now confirmed that he had covered up Pamela's crimes and kept Amanda abroad.

There was a huge difference between suspecting it and hearing it confirmed.

Sabrina thought she didn't care. But, at that moment, her heart ached terribly.

She stupidly believed that there was a possible future between them just because he had offered his coat to her and held her in Panshaw as they gazed at the stars.

She was really foolish for that.

"It doesn't matter how I found out. What's your decision?" Sabrina pressed for an answer.

Nelson observed her seriously.

He felt guilty about this and chose his words carefully . "She can go to jail. But not now."

Sabrina's eyelashes trembled at this.

She had expected his choice.

She pushed him away with just enough force to break free from his grip.

She then jumped off the table, took the divorce papers from her bag, and threw them in front of him. "Sign it."

"I won't sign it," he said firmly.

She was no longer angry. After everything she went through, she felt numb.

"Fine, don't sign it. But let her face the punishment she deserves." With that, Sabrina turned to leave.

However, Nelson grabbed her wrist and stopped her.

She turned to look at him. "Are you going to stop me?"

"Let me handle this," he said.-

"There's no need for that. I'll handle it myself. Didn't you say before I can dispose of her however I want? What's the matter? Don't have the heart to see her in jail?" Sabrina questioned, feeling a cold sadness in her heart.

She continued, "Nelson, didn't you say there would be no more scandals with her? Yes, there are no more scandals, but only because you've been keeping it a secret.

"You also said you wouldn't threaten me anymore but instead show me sincerity. I believed you and had expectations for you. But you disappointed me."

Her words left him speechless.

"Sabrina, there's something she needs to help me with. Just wait a bit longer," Nelson said.

"She hurt me, yet you want me to wait? Did you know she had someone take pictures of me?" At the mention of that incident, Sabrina's eyes shimmered with tears.

If she hadn't been cautious at that time and bumped into Justin, she didn't know what would've happened. She was terrified.

However, her husband was asking her to wait a little longer. He was her husband, for crying out loud.

"Will you sign the papers or not?" Sabrina asked.

She didn't want to waste another minute with him.

She held back her tears and tried to remain calm as she talked to him.

"You can help Frederick as well. But he won't be able to take Abigail away so easily in Slitton," she asserted.

After Sabrina returned from Panshaw, she hired two bodyguards for Abigail.

Nelson merely looked at her without saying anything. He didn't even glance at the divorce papers.

He wanted to solve the situation calmly. But Sabrina didn't give him the chance.

She picked up her phone and called the police in front of him.

However, before the call could go through, he grabbed her phone and ended the call.

"I said that I'll handle this." Nelson was out of patience. Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.

He signed and held her shoulders. He didn't know how to explain about Pamela or how to bring up his past.

"Sabrina, give me a little more time, okay?" he pleaded.

"Nelson, I don't matter to you. That's why you keep hurting me…" Sabrina said.
