Chapter 67
Kyren Gerwolff has arrived at the Blackmoon Pack. His eerie presence alone made the whole hall erupt in whispers. His chin was raised in a show of his power and pride.
A barrage of the younger and weaker wolves had looks of apprehension and fear on their faces. Knowing this was the alpha male and monster that held their king captive for months, no one trusted him.
It becomes worse when Elise feels the stares turn towards her. Her gaze locks with Kyren, and a tremor of nerves begins to bite at her, but she controls her face into one of stoic indifference like Rygan has fought her. Kyren wasn’t going to win this.
Kyren makes his way to where she stands with Taz and Kaide, who had quietly come to her side, even though she ended things with him just a moment ago.
From their beta stance and scent, she could tell they were trying to hold back their growls from attacking and killing Kyren right there in the hall.
Kyren’s face was immediately in awe when she saw Elise; the glimmer in his gaze darkened with intense lust as he bowed to her, shocking Elise and the whole room.
“You look exquisite, Elise, and your scent is marvelous; you are the reason I came here–to see your beautiful face,” he says with a smirk.
She felt the bile rise in her system from disgust. Is this man who locked her up with no remorse because she was dirty to him now praising her? What was his deal?! Elise couldn’t read what he was up to right now, but she knew they all knew he couldn’t be trusted.
*Do not touch her* Rygan’s voice pushed through Kyren’s mind as he looked up from Elise to Rygan, who sat perched on his throne, his hands fisted tightly on the arms of the chair till it groaned.
“I am just greeting my betrothed Rygan… It looks like I still have to gain your trust, darling,” he says with a purr. It causes goosebumps to run down Elise’s body, and she recalls all the torment she faced in Kyren’s possession.
“That will never happen,” she finally replies to him. A glint of surprise at Elise talking back shows in his eyes as he stares at Elise. There is something so different about her; the aura of the terrified girl who begged for her freedom from him all that time ago is gone.
“We’ll see about that,” he muttered. The two Betas, Kaide and Taz, walked in front of Elise to protect her from him. Kyren’s stare turned cold and deadly as he looked at them with a snarl.
“Move away, mutts; you are only servants to your alpha, and you dare try to hide my betrothed?”
“She is nothing of the sort to you; you did not come here for her but for the engagement, Alpha Kyren, so focus on that, or else we draw blood.” Taz replied with a cold tone, filled with a bloody promise behind it.
Kyren smirks as he steps back. “Very well,” he mutters before he goes to the Dias of the throne. Rygan is still dead; he was repressing that charge in his system to break Kyren’s neck. Alvira’s voice, silently pleading in his ears while her hand pressed on his, had been the only thing stopping him from attacking.
“Please, Rygan, he isn’t doing anything; let’s just focus on our engagement,” she mutters. For a moment, Rygan’s eyes shift around the room to lock with Elsie, who swallows before she turns away. Her heart was heavy seeing his hands entwined with another woman.
Kyren had over a dozen guards behind him, but one, in particular, stood out in familiarity to Alvira. Even though only his eyes were seen from the dark scarves around his face, she knew that was the assassin who tried to take her that day.
The male was smug with his greeting, bowing to Elise before he moved to the side. She stopped a growl from leaving her lips; this was supposed to be a peaceful treaty after all; one day of this, and she never has to see Kyren again.

Cut the bullshit, Kyren, I know you; it was you Rygan snarls slamming his hands on the table. This betas had both snarled a Kyren, and the whole hall quieted, with Kyren’s guards now all on alert. One more word, and Elise was sure a fight would ensue right now.
“It’s in the past,” she called with a forced smile plastered on her lips, and yet her grip under the table almost drew blood. You are here for peace, aren’t you?” she said, shocking both males, but even Alvira looked relieved at the situation as she took a cup of water up.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“Um, we’ve had our grievances in the past, but we will be able to look past that today since it’s my engagement,” she called to Kyren, who smirked. He raises a cup and clinks it with Alvira’s
“Congratulations on your day, Alvira: he made a splendid choice, he says to Alvira, who looks smug as she kisses Rygan’s band That gesture broke something in Elise, she had been holding quiet.
What was she doing? When she didn’t belong here.
For a moment, she felt like she couldn’t breathe. Not only did Rygan not look at her the entire night, but Alvira had shown him off to even Kyren, a male who had rejected her before.
She felt the humiliation more than before. “You ok, Red?” Taz asks, breaking her thoughts. She looks up at him to see the whole table staring. “I’m sorry, I just need a little space,” she says before standing up and leaving the table.
“The offer still stands, darling, you can leave with me, and I’ll treat you like the queen that you deserve,” Kyren says to her, but Elise doesn’t turn back to him as she leaves the hall.
“Elise Rygan calls through the bond.
*Do not follow me; you’ve made your choice, and I need to make mine, she pleads as the bond goes silent. Alvira made a quiet stand and momentarily walked out of the room. Rygan could hardly care what she was on about this time.
Rygan’s face holds so much anger and contempt as he stares at the Dark Knight Alpha. “I should kill you and be done with it.”
“I have my best men here outside your walls, Rygan, and know that this will wage war and the silver knight pack is ready to fight for me at any time if I’m attacked, and wouldn’t it be a beautiful reunion of Elise and her pack?” He says it with a wicked tease.
“Do not call her name; you do not offer her respect after all that you did to her,” he growls at Kyren.
And it’s the respect you offer her? You invited her to your engagement ceremony; what more would you make her watch you marry Alvira next while she is cast aside? I’d rather take back what’s mine now,” he argues.
“You will do no such thing; it is only Elise’s choice, and she will never choose you,” he says to Kyren. His claws already dent the table as Kyren’s eyer–change to a hued red, ready to strike, bilt he feels a soft tap on the shoulders.
It’s the masked assassin who Rygan couldn’t recognize because he was on scent suppressants. He whispers something to Kyren, whose eyes perk up with mischief as he stands.
“It seems this event is already over for the night. Myself and my men will return to our tents before tomorrow’s main event,” he says, looking smugly back at the trio before he leaves, turning back one more time to Kyren.
“And if she makes her choice, do not interfere,” he says before leaving the hall. Chatters immediately filled with relief, but Rygan was far from satisfied to see Kyren leave with his head still intact.
“Be calm, brother; remember the treaty, or he takes her. Taz mutters calmly as they watch the bastard leave.
But Rygan could only wonder what he was up to.
Meanwhile, after Elise departs from the hall, she feels the need for a short walk before she makes her way up to the room when she is stopped by Alvira on the steps.
She sees the smug look in Alvira’s gaze. “I’m convinced you love humiliation since you still showed your face at my event,” she tells Elise.
“What do you want, Alvira? You’ve won; he is yours, and I am nothing else; you are his mate,” Elise says to Alvira.
“As much as it sounds like music to my ears to hear you call defeat, it’s still not enough,” she calls with a chuckle, saying that Elsie couldn’t read the meaning behind her sinister tone. “I get back to my mate; have a nice night; you sure as hell need it,” Alvira says with a wicked smirk.
Elise tugs her hands out of Alvira’s hold and makes it to her chambers. Unbeknownst to her, her candles had been switched with a sleeping incense. The scent calms her nerves as she leans against the bedposts for support.
For an unknown reason, she feels drowsy; her eyelids are heavy as she hears the door of her room creak open.
She feels a warm touch on her skin that makes her lean into it. “Darling, I will make you feel so good,” she hears the voice say.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Rygan or a mirage of him; she wasn’t sure as she was out of it, but she couldn’t fight back as she felt her clothes taken off and a warm lick on her neck.
“Close your eyes, and you will feel better, and you will be mine forever,” he hears the voice mutter. She feels her body fall deeper into slumber, and the world turns black.
Elise feels hotter than usual when she wakes up; the room feels blurry, and her throat is sore. She tries to sit up but feels a warm body close to her–a scent that’s so familiar.
She opens her eyes in shock to see her clothes scattered, and she is naked and on the bed with a male she recognizes in horror.
That was when the horrid realization swept in from what happened. It was the alpha sling of the Dark Knight pack on her bed.
No, no, no! What the hell was Kyren doing here, naked in bed with her?
The door had barged open at that moment as Rygan and Alvira walked into the room. Elise could barely make a word out about the situation as she faced Rygan. His eyes glazed with fury and betrayal as he roared at Kyren.
“I’ll fucking kill you!”
