Chapter 187: Waiting Time
Astrid's POV
Our eyes turned to Andros when he suddenly stood up.
"Don't worry about her, father. You know how stubborn Asha could be, after a while I'm sure she would realize her mistakes once she had calmed down," Andros spoke up to appease his father's anger. Alpha Theron sighed. "That girl, she always let her emotions control her. As my daughter, she should always be capable of handling her emotions well."
"Astrid, I want to apologize for Asha's behavior. Asha is not usually like this, she was just surprised with the sudden changes," Andros bowed his head to me to extend his apologies.
"It's okay, there's no need to apologize," I spoke hastily as I felt uncomfortable and undeserving of receiving a bow of respect from him.
Andros gave me a warm smile, grateful that I accepted his apology on behalf of his sister.
"Father, please excuse me. I'll go after Asha and try to talk to her," Andros said, turning to his father for his permission.
"Okay, you should go. You know your sister, she listens to you more than she listens to me," Alpha Theron replied with a shake of his hand.
Andros chuckled when he heard his father's comment before he rushed out of the room to follow after his sister.
I followed Andros with my gaze as he disappeared out of the room. Hearing his father's comment and seeing how much he cared about his sister showed me how deep their sibling bond was.
"Astrid, I'm sorry for putting you in an uncomfortable position," Alpha Theron began after Andros had left. "I know I gave you my promise that no one would know about your real identity, but still I did this."
I shifted to a comfortable position on my seat when I heard Alpha Theron's words. I was curious to know what made him do this, to ask me for his permission to break his promise, but I was afraid to ask him questions because he might ask me questions in return, and I wouldn't know how to answer him.
I'm just glad that he didn't take Asha's words seriously, and I think that I was just putting an act all along because that wasn't true.
"Alpha," I spoke carefully as I lifted my gaze to him. I was surprised when I saw how the light in his eyes suddenly flickered when he heard how I addressed him.
I momentarily paused when I noticed his reaction. He thought I had forgiven him; he thought I'd finally accepted him as my father because I agreed to be recognized as his daughter.
"I-I need to leave, I still have to wake up early tomorrow and discuss the changes to Beta Alek," I almost stammered as I continued to speak and tried my best to ignore the flicker of his emotions.
Alpha Theron forced a smile on his face. "Yes, that's right... We are already done here anyway," he replied as he slowly nodded his head.
Now that Beta Alek is back, I needed to familiarize him with the changes in the Pack, so he would know how to handle everything as the Beta. He has been gone for three years, and
there's been a lot of changes since
then.
As I walked through the hallway to go back to my room, I couldn't help but shut my eyes. I felt a headache coming from thinking about how I could explain everything to Drystan tomorrow. Last week, Drystan was just so excited, thinking that I would be coming back to Nightsong Pack with him tomorrow.
I don't know how I'm going to tell him that I will never be coming back to Nightsong Pack anymore.
Once Alpha Theron officially
announced me as a part of his family, I will be forever tied to the Shadowfang Pack as their Alpha's daughter, and I won't be allowed to join other Packs except if I marry.
I had betrayed Drystan by allowing Alpha Theron to publicize my true relationship with him. Now I don't know how I'm supposed to face him tomorrow and explain things to him. Being part of the Nightsong Pack would have been so nice. It would also be nice if I could live without any relations or connections to my father and his family.
However, I need to think of the son that I lost and how the people who took him from me are living a good life after they ruined mine.
I had to be honest with myself. The Shadowfang Pack could help me more than the Nightsong Pack.
It's the Silvermoon Pack that I have
to go against, not just Giselle orContent (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
Killian. I want to have my revenge, I will need Alpha Theron's help and the whole Shadowfang Pack behind my back.
I was fooling myself into thinking that I could have my revenge by just having Drystan's help.
It's already been three years since I lost my son. Three years of Giselle, Killian, and their son having their time together while I'm here suffering on my own.
I just cannot wait any longer. I need to grab the opportunity that Alpha Theron has given to me.
If I turned that down, I would have waited another three or ten years in the Nightsong Pack before I could enact my revenge.
I couldn't afford to wait anymore.
Once my real identity is announced in public, I'll start with my plans one by one.
