Reckless Marriage Unyielding Love

Chapter 138

Chapter 138

Mikayla was no goody two shoes herself. She had guessed what Natasha was harboring.

Perhaps Natasha banked on the fact that Mikayla would never expose her in public owing to her illness. That was a smart move.

If Mikayla wished to risk it and rat Natasha out, of course, she would need evidence. However, those people in the Ludwig family would surely rebuke her before she could reveal anything.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Natasha was already so sick, so as her sister-in-law, Mikayla figured she should never be seen pressing on the matter. Besides, Natasha had always sported a thoughtful, sensible image in the family. Mikayla, in contrast, had nothing to impress.

Keeping mum would only imply owning up to the things she never did and admitting to being a jealous sister-in-law; yet, asserting her view would mean being thoughtless about Natasha's illness, not to mention being accused of slandering in the end.

If it had taken Natasha a long time to plot all that, Mikayla could only applaud Natasha's effortless pretense. Not only that, but Natasha was even scheming as hell.

Natasha bawled her eyes out and fell asleep while Selena held Natasha's hand by the hospital bed.

Sometime later, Myla brought something over. The sight of Mikayla elicited a murderous intent in her eyes.

Even so, Mikayla understood for being deemed the culprit in causing the girl Myla watched grow up to land in the hospital.

Mikayla flashed Myla a faint smile, not caring about their prejudice toward her. If anything, she was amazed by Myla's loyalty.

After Conor checked on Natasha diligently, he gave the rest some pointers before letting them take her home.

Carlos took the wheel while Mikayla sat in the passenger seat; Garrett, Selena, and Natasha sat in the back.

Just the day before, they had been a harmonious family, but that very day when they sat in the same car, only silence accompanied them. Selena, for one, kept showing Natasha's concern.

At 4 p.m., the black Ford reached the Ludwig mansion.

Natasha took the initiative to ask for a wheelchair from the help, appearing depressed. She might have not spoken much at times, but she at least had been cheerful. Obviously, she was fishing for sympathy with that act.

Carlos personally carried her into the wheelchair, but she deliberately stopped him. She pulled that to make Mikayla look worse before the family, further reinforcing Mikayla's misdeed.

Mikayla, though, was looking forward to seeing Natasha's plan unfold.

The moment Myla pushed Natasha away, the latter suddenly looked up and said to Mikayla, "Don't stay mad at me, Mikayla."

"Why would I? It wasn't me who did that, anyway," Mikayla responded calmly.

Natasha's expression changed. She beheld Mikayla and pondered, 'How's this woman always full of confidence?'

On that heels, tears welled up in Natasha's aggrieved eyes.

A subtle smile appeared on Mikayla's face as she cooed, "Hurry back to your room, Natasha. You're still weak, so rest up." In fact, she wanted to tell Natasha to stay in bed longer.

Mikayla then entered the mansion under the meaningful gazes of the crowd.

Moments after she got into Carlos' room, Carlos opened the door and walked inside.

"Why don't you go take care of your sis?" Mikayla was not throwing a tantrum. She only needed some time alone to think about her next step. "Jealous much?" Carlos held her from behind and leaned his handsome face against her shoulder, but he did not exert any strength.

"You, too, believe that I did it?" asked Mikayla.

Carlos turned her around and whispered, "If it was you, I'd be even more delighted."

He locked lips with Mikayla, relieving his longing for her. The kiss was light yet passionate.

What he meant was that he trusted her, or in other words, he had always believed in her since the very beginning.

She felt the kiss they shared and wrapped her arms around his neck. In her heart, she thanked the man for having faith in her. He meant the world to her.

After the lip lock, Carlos eyeballed Mikayla's rosy lips, his eyes shining with lust.

"Carlos, can you stay out of this?" Mikayla noticed she sounded unusually hoarse. "I wanna solve this myself."

Carlos gazed at her charming mien as if he was not quite yet satisfied with their moment shared. "I'll do whatever Mika tells me."

"Then, best if you go take care of your sis now." Mikayla smiled as she withdrew from that guy's embrace.

Carlos eyed her and smiled dotingly. "Do whatever you want. Don't worry about me."

In the end, he chose to close the door and let her deal with it herself.

As Mikayla watched him leave, her smile gradually died out.

She believed that she could solve it on her own. Plus, Carlos grew up in the Ludwig family, so she refused to cause chaos in the house because of the incident.

Much against her expectations,

Carlos knew everything and did not want her to fret about his feelings. 'Is this he giving me some kind of privilege?' she mused.

Nevertheless, then was not the time for her to be sentimental. More than anything, she was in need of a perfect opening to settle the issue. On the spot, Mikayla thought of the camera outside the room. She remembered seeing a camera right outside Carlos' room when she came. Making her way downstairs, she wanted to ask the housekeepers, only to be shunned by them. They all threw her contemptuous gazes. Came one's remark. "They're just siblings being close. Why must she be jealous over that and drive Ms. Ludwig to the hospital?" "Never judge a book by its cover. One may look all pretty on the outside, but inside, we'll never know-" chimed in another housekeeper. "Stop talking! Get back to work!" A slightly senior housekeeper hindered the conversation.

Mikayla approached the senior housekeeper and asked, "Excuse me, where can I check the camera footage of this mansion?" Never did she anticipate the elderly to spare her only a peek and the cold shoulder before exiting the living room to get busy.

Seeing that, Mikayla was ticked off. It seemed that Natasha's pretending to be fragile had worked magic. All the housekeepers had been swayed

to take Natasha's side, sympathizing with Natasha while hating Mikayla's guts.

Mikayla swept a glance at those housekeepers who were still in the living room and raised her voice. "Can anybody tell me where I can check the camera footage of this house Mikayla enunciated and began to exert pressure by adding, "Before any conclusion is reached, I'm still Mrs. Ludwig to you. Anybody who refuses to tell me will show themselves out of this place at my command."

The housekeepers in the living room exchanged gazes for a split moment and uniformly pointed to the entrance the mansion.

Mikayla smiled subtly and politely thanked them. She thought, 'Looks like this title of mine is still useful.'

With that, she headed for the entrance.
