Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled

Chapter 292

Chapter 292

I was currently living with Neil, and we were considering getting back together, so Stella and the gang couldn’t help but constantly watch Neil and me.

It was typical for a couple looking to reconcile to show up together at an engagement party, but we didn’t.

Neil gave me a calm glance, then shifted his gaze as if he didn’t know me.

I frowned.

“What’s going on?” Stella asked in a low voice, watching as Neil left.

“I’m not sure.” I shook my head.

Seeing Neil ignoring me, Bonnie whispered something to Kate before walking over to greet Neil.

Unexpectedly, Neil wasn’t cold to Bonnie today. Instead, he chatted with her with a smile. He was quite a bit taller than Bonnie and even leaned slightly when he was listening to her.

This scene left Stella and the others at a loss. Even Kitty was dumbfounded.

Kitty seemed more inclined to see me as a rival, not Bonnie.

“Rena, did you have a fight with Neil?” Mitch Hebert asked curiously.

“No,” I replied indifferently.

“Is it because…” Mitch hesitated. He glanced in Neil’s direction, then pulled me aside and said, “Rena, I know there are some things I shouldn’t hide from you. If I tell you, can you promise not to blame Neil?”

I didn’t say anything; I just looked at Mitch..

Mitch sighed and said, “Karina Aaron was pregnant when she died. Although Gloria said the child was Neil’s, I think it’s impossible…”

Russel had already told me about this, so I didn’t react.

Seeing my calmness, Mitch looked a bit nervous as he asked, “Rena, you’re not shocked, are you?”

“I already knew. And also, I knew that Neil gave Bonnie money to go abroad for treatment.” I said without a ripple in my heart.

Mitch blinked and asked, “He gave Bonnie money? How come I didn’t know?”

“Because he didn’t ask you to do it, I gave a cold laugh and said, “Even though he said he wanted Bonnie to disappear forever, he was still soft-hearted in the end.”

Mitch was stunned. I knew he had always wanted to help Neil and me get back together, but there were just too many issues between Neil and me.

I returned to Stella and the others, waiting for the engagement party to officially start.

Before that, I saw Lauretta Dawson,

She was in a wheelchair. Compared to the last time I saw her, she has deteriorated a lot. She had lost a lot of weight and looked very weak.

However, there was still an undeniable joy on her face. Her son was finally marrying the daughter-in- law she approved of, so she was naturally happy.

Guests greeted Lauretta. She just smiled and nodded, seemingly too weak to speak.

When our eyes met, she was taken aback and then signaled Samuel Dawson to wheel her away.

“Russel and Chloe are over there!” Alicia Rider suddenly pointed out.

I looked over. Russel was wearing a white suit with a small golden buttonhole on his chest. Chloe was in a white fishtail dress with a necklace of small golden flowers around her neck. Their outfits were a perfect match.

While everyone was looking at today’s stars, I felt Nell staring at me.

Just as I was finding this strange, I suddenly felt someone push me hard. I was wearing high heels and lost my balance;

stumbled forward a few steps before stabilizing myself.

At that moment, Russel and Chloe’s gaze immediately shifted to me.

Russel’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as he instinctively let go of Chloe’s hand.

Chloe immediately grabbed his hand again.

A second later, Russel reacted. His face changed a bit, and his gaze fell back on Lauretta. He didn’t pull away from Chloe. but his expression seemed a bit reluctant.

Everyone was looking at me. My relationship with Neil and Russel was already complicated, a favorite piece of gossip. My sudden rush towards him made people suspect that I was still in love with Russel and had come to disrupt his

engagement party. NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

I quietly moved back. I didn’t know who had been standing behind me. Bonnie and Kate were both a bit away from me.

Then, my gaze swept over Malinda’s face. A triumphant smile flashed across her lips.

“Rena, are you okay?” Stella came over to ask.

“I’m fine. I think it was Malinda who pushed me.” I replied.

Stella turned to look at Malinda, fuming, and said, “I’ll get her back for you!”

I didn’t stop Stella. I didn’t know how she planned to take revenge, but Malinda definitely deserved a lesson.

After a while, I didn’t know where Stella and the others had gone. Only Kitty stayed by my side. She kept probing me, trying to figure out what was going on between Neil and me, but I didn’t tell her.

“Irene.” Russel had somehow appeared behind me. I turned around to see him looking at me, my surprised reflection in his

eyes.

“Congratulations.” I managed to keep my emotions in check, congratulating him softly.

Then, I couldn’t help but check the surroundings. Chloe was currently accompanying Lauretta, unaware of me. There was a Roman column between us, barely shielding me

Russel moved a step to the side, hiding with me behind the column. He was very close to me, his head lowered as he asked, “Why did you come today?”

“You came to my wedding.” My answer was obviously hypocritical, but it was reasonable.

“But you know you make me waver, regret, and feel discontent, don’t you?” Russel sighed. He wanted to lift his hand to tuck a stray lock of hair behind my ear, but his hand hesitated mid-air and fell back to

his side.

I took a couple of steps back, not wanting to get too close to him, just to avoid sparking any juicy gossip.

This move seemed to dampen Russel’s spirits a bit. He managed a forced smile and said, “I won’t do anything that’s out of line. You have my word.”

I looked down, not sure how to respond to that.

Suddenly, a ruckus erupted not far off, “Someone’s getting it on upstairs!”

Hearing this, Russel and I both jumped out of our skins and then immediately joined the crowd, heading upstairs. All the while, I was scanning the crowd for Neil and Bonnie, but they were nowhere to be found.

My heart sank, and I quickened my pace towards the second floor, which was already getting cramped. At the end of the hallway, a man and a woman were all tangled up and heavy into each other, their clothes in disarray.

The woman was none other than Malinda, and I didn’t recognize the man. He appeared to be a bit on the chubby side.
