Chapter 3 Meeting Eric Again

Lost in thought, Eileen was interrupted by a series of knocks on the door. “Ms. Eileen, are you all right? Is everything okay between you and Mr. Snow?” The voice echoing from outside the door filled Eileen’s heart with joy, prompting her to get out of bed and open the door. At the sight of Eileen, the Swan family’s servant, Sharon Swire, sighed in relief, but the look on her face was swiftly replaced by one of deep concern. “Ms. Eileen, I saw Mr. Snow storm out in a fury. Did the two of you have a fight again?” The current Sharon was still young. Gazing at her, Eileen couldn’t help but feel a lump forming in her throat. Tears welled up in her eyes at once and blurred her vision as she dashed forward to hug Sharon. Taking in Eileen’s tear-stained countenance, Sharon instantly furrowed her brows. “Ms. Eileen, why are you crying? Did you have a nightmare? Don’t worry. I’m here for you.” Eileen, unable to stop her tears from falling, buried her face in Sharon’s soft embrace, smelling the familiar detergent scent on the latter. It’s really Sharon. Only Sharon prefers using this type of detergent to do her laundry. Choking back sobs, Eileen shook her head and said, “Sharon, I’m hungry. Do we have anything to eat?” Sharon broke into laughter. “So, you’re just hungry? Is that a reason for a grown-up like you to cry? I’ll go make you some spaghetti!” Ten minutes later, Eileen sat at the dining table downstairs, watching Sharon serve her a steaming plate of spaghetti. “Eat up, Ms. Eileen!” Eileen nodded and began to devour the food, startling Sharon with her demeanor. The spaghetti still tastes the same as before. Suppressing her urge to cry, Eileen cleaned her plate. Only after watching Eileen finish having her meal did Sharon ask tentatively, “Ms. Eileen, I heard a huge commotion upstairs earlier but didn’t dare to check. Moreover, Mr. Snow appeared furious when he left. What happened between you two?” Eileen reached out for a piece of tissue and wiped her mouth with it, answering indifferently, “It’s nothing, Sharon. We just had a little argument.” She couldn’t possibly tell Sharon that she tried to seduce Eric but failed and instead ended up being taught a lesson by him. Sharon bobbed her head. The next second, seemingly suddenly recalling something, she continued, “By the way, Ms. Eileen, Mr. Swan asked me to tell you he can’t make it back for a banquet and wants you and Mr. Snow to attend on his behalf.” Eileen was momentarily stunned. In her previous life, Will had only asked Eric to go, so she wondered why sheText © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

was included this time. Pouting, she nodded obediently. It seems I’ll be meeting Eric again soon. On the day of the banquet, the servants brought the evening gown prepared for her early in the morning. Eileen glanced at the outfit. It was a pink dress, its fluffy skirt adorned with dazzling gemstones that sparkled under the light. Will had always been willing to spend money on his only daughter, but there was no real father-daughter affection between Eileen and him. Therefore, she didn’t dare refuse Will’s request for her to attend the banquet, having no choice but to comply with his instructions. After Eileen washed her face, she gazed at her own reflection in the mirror. She was looking at a youthful, innocent girl with skin as tender and smooth as a baby’s bottom, contrasting starkly with her previous state marred by illness. Sharon, holding a blanket, entered. She glanced at Eileen, grinned, and complimented, “You’re so pretty, Ms. Eileen, even more charming than the celebrities on television!” Eileen replied sheepishly, “Sharon, you’re teasing me again!” In fact, she was indeed beautiful, having grown into a striking figure at the age of eighteen. With delicate facial features, fair and tender skin, a petite face with a hint of baby fat, and radiant eyes, she looked somewhat naïve. However, Eileen’s personality was quite despicable. She carried herself with the typical arrogance and willfulness of a pampered young lady from a wealthy family, which was why she never had any friends in her previous life. By the time Eileen changed into her evening gown and finished preening herself, it was already evening. The sound of a car horn came from outside. Eileen looked out the window and saw a black Bentley driving into the courtyard. Eric had returned. Gripping the hem of her dress, Eileen turned around and prepared to head downstairs. As she descended the stairs, she saw Eric standing in the living room with his arms crossed. His tall and upright figure was clad in a crisp, black suit. Even as he stood motionless in his spot, he exuded an overwhelming, aloof, and noble aura. When observed up close, his countenance appeared all the more stunning, carrying an intimidating sense of authority and steadfastness inherent in those of higher status. A man like him was naturally attractive to women. In the past, I was also enchanted by this very outward form of his, wasn’t I? I threw myself at him like a moth to a flame, only to pay a devastating price in the end. At that thought, Eileen felt her legs turn to lead as she continued to advance in his direction. Hearing the resounding footsteps, Eric slightly turned his head around to glance behind him and noticed Eileen, who was dressed in a long pink dress with a

waist-cinching design that accentuated her slender figure and a pair of strappy heels. As she walked, her delicate ankles could be vaguely observed beneath the hem of her dress. At that moment, she resembled a princess straight out of a fairy tale. Such a scene could take any man’s breath away, but Eric merely briefly swept his eyes across her before averting his gaze, then uttered expressionlessly, “Let’s go.” With that, he turned and strode away without waiting for her. Eileen awkwardly lifted the hem of her dress and hurried after him.
