“Who are we going to pick? I should have asked this question before agreeing to give you a ride,” Jayden laments.

Evelyn blinks her eyelashes rapidly, glancing at her boss. Why did he bring up the question? They are almost at the shopping mall.

She beams an evil smile.”You know what, drive the car back to the company. Then, you can ask me the question and we can start our journey again.

,” She rambles.

He glares at her.”You are crazy, Evelyn,”

“Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Jayden,” She says sarcastically.

“So, are you going to get a cab to drive you home after I drop you at the mall?”He asks.

She pouts her lips.”Why can’t you just help me? Can’t you drop me home?”

Evelyn scoffs.”What?”

“Pouting your lips. It is not cute and it doesn’t fit you,” He lies.

Deep down in his mind, he likes how she pushes out her lips like a spoiled little girl. She looks cute while doing that. He lied that it doesn’t suit her, just to get on her nerves.

Jayden badly wishes he can take a cute picture of her and show the world how beautiful his secretary looks.

Evelyn lifts her shoulder in a half-shrug.”Lies. My boyfriend once told me that pouting my lips makes me look cute,”

“He is probably deceiving you, after all, he is your boyfriend,” he mumbles. “You didn’t have to mention your boyfriend in our conversation though,”

“Doesn’t change the fact that I look cute when I pout my lips,” She retorts.

“Don’t pout your lips in public, girl. Someone may report you to the cops,”

Evelyn bursts into laughter, even though what he just said is offensive. But, she knows that he is messing with her.

Evelyn thinks her relationship with Jayden is kinda amusing. They will have a disagreement today, they will turn into friends and keep dragging each other the next day. Such a messy boss-employee relationship.

Something occurs in Jayden’s mind. Maybe, this is the right time to ask her about her family, about why she is working in his family’s company despite that they are rich. He may not be chanced next time to ask the question. Who knows? They may be on bad terms tomorrow.

Jayden clears his throat.”Evelyn,” He calls her name.

“Mr. Jayden,” She calls back.

“Try to act serious once in a while,” He reprimands her.

He thinks she is messing around with him when she also calls his name.

A prominent line appears between her brows.”I am serious,” She mutters.

“Why are you working in a company, despite your father’s riches?” He questions her.

Evelyn shrugs. She doesn’t like when people ask her this question. It always makes her remember that she is blessed with the worst parents ever, especially her mother.

“How do you know that my family is rich? Are you stalking me or what?” She asks back.

“It is pretty obvious that you are from a wealthy family. Your house says it all. Now, answer my question,”

She forced a smile.”Well, I just love working. Isn’t it nice?”

“Can’t you work in your family’s company or create a business, instead of serving someone?”

“Yes, you are right. Working in my father’s company in Paris or having my business is better than working for a wicked boss,”

“I am not wicked, dummy, “He scoffs.

“I also have a question to ask you, Mr. Jayden,”

“What?”

“Why did you chase Emily out of the company, after telling Marina and me that she is your girlfriend?”

“I don’t know,” He mumbles.

“Not fair. I answered your question but you didn’t answer mine,”

“We are not playing a ‘question and answer’ game,” He snaps at her.

Evelyn and Jayden reach the shopping mall, after a few minutes of driving. Jayden stays in the parking lot, sitting in his car while his secretary walks into the mall to pick up her cousin.

Evelyn dials her cousin’s number, so she can know where she is but Skylar’s number is not going through. Nevertheless, she enters the shopping mall hoping she will catch a glimpse of Skylar. She has seen Skylar once in real life, so she can recognize her face. Apart from seeing her in real life, Skylar always posts her pictures on social media so it is easy for Evelyn to recognize her.

As Evelyn’s eyes roam the shopping mall, her big brown eyes land on familiar curly hair. She stares intensely at the man, his standing figure and structure are just the same as her boyfriend’s.

The person is not facing her direction, so she can’t see his face.

She is about to walk to another section of the mall when the man turns.

Her mouth falls open. It is her boyfriend, Raymond. What is he doing here?

Evelyn opens her mouth to call his attention, but quickly closes it back. She sees her cousin walking towards her boyfriend, grinning from ear to ear. What the heck is going on?

Her brows furrow.”Raymond,” She calls loudly, not caring if it is a public place.

Raymond turns. His jaw drops when he recognizes his girlfriend, staring at him. He knows that he is in trouble already, but he is also aware that he can escape the damn trouble. He quickly covers the shocked look on his face with a fake smile.

“What the heck! I thought you freaking said that she won’t be coming to pick me,” Skylar who is standing behind him curses under her breath.

Raymond ignores her, still smiling at his girlfriend.”Come over, baby.”He beckons at her.

“You’re a motherfucker, Raymond.”Skylar snaps silently.

Evelyn stares at him, giving me a half-shrug. It is obvious that she is confused. What is her boyfriend doing here? What is he doing with his cousin? Why are they together?

So many questions run through her mind, but there is no one to give the answers she needs.
