Chapter 24 - The Vault
Justus POV
After the battle ended life in the kingdom and castle had to go on. All of the wounded had been taken to the hospital we have connected to the castle and the dead have been buried. The battle remnants left behind had been cleaned up. Now we have to get back to business so I call a meeting with my Betas, Deltas, and Gammas. Due to Gracia's amazing healing abilities Delta Ermo is already out of the hospital.
I'm sitting at the head of a conference table and it's strange because this is where my father has always sat. I can still feel some pain of grief for him. "Alright Gentlemen, we have some things to discuss. One being Achard is now missing and needs to be labeled as the most wanted man of the kingdom. Two, the Key to the Gates of Guinee is still in our possession but we need to take it to the River of Phlegethon on the Isle of Demons in order to destroy it. Thirdly, I need to have my coronation as a simple ceremony for the kingdom and nothing lavish. Fourth, do we know where Achard's coven is and when do we plan to raid it? Fifth, we need to work on handing over work so the current Beta, Delta, and Gamma can retire."
"I can send out printed notifications to all the packs in the kingdom that Achard is a wanted man along with our allies." Beta Augusto suggested. "Then, we all need to be watching our backs for some time. It might take a while but he will retaliate"
"That's what I'm afraid of Beta Augusto which leads me straight into number two on our agenda: The Key to the Gates of Guinee. I know that Achard really wants that key and is willing to do anything to get it. We have to destroy it. Who wants to go with me and who wants to stay?" This is something that has been nagging me for some time now and I know I'm going to get pushback over wanting to lead the party.
"Prince Justus, I don't believe you should be leading this party. The kingdom is in a fragile state right now without a leader. But even if we rush and have your coronation first you're still such a new ruler that people will want to see you active in the kingdom, they may seek an audience with you, or just want to know that you are here." Beta Augusto was the first to respond.
"I have to agree with the Beta. You need to take your rightful place as King before any long adventures. Maybe putting off destroying the key is a good idea. It's certainly safe here." Delta Ermo gave his opinion.
"I think this key is a dangerous thing that should not be taken lightly and needs to be destroyed. If the key falls into the wrong person's hands, whether that be Achard or some other villainous character it could literally destroy the supernatural world. I say we should push through the coronation as soon as possible then let Justus, Jackin, and Mack take the key to be destroyed. Sorry Emil but the beta has to stay behind and keep order and Gracia above all else we cannot lose the queen." Gamma Gosse stated his opinion.
"I agree with Gamma Gosse." Jackin, Mack, and Amice both said in unison.
"Gracia and Emil, do either of you have any input?" I wondered why they had both been silent.
"Sorry, dad, but I have to agree with Gamma Gosse as well. This key can open a door to so much power that it's scary. We need to destroy it as soon as possible." Emil finally spoke up.
"Well, I don't like being excluded based on being a female but I understand why I'm being asked to stay home similar to why the Beta is staying home. I also agree with Gamma Gosse." Gracia said.
"Well, unfortunately Beta Augusto and Delta Ermo majority rules so you have been outvoted. When can we hold the coronation?" I'm mostly concerned with the coronation because I know it will put the kingdom back to peace. "We can have it done tomorrow." Beta Augusto says.
"Great and Achard's coven?" I ask, hoping they know the location.
"We do know the location and we were planning to send men there as soon as we got the okay from you." Delta Ermo responded.
"That's terrific and then when we get back from disposing of the Key to the Gates of Guinee we can return to look at moving positions over to Emil, Jackin, and Mack." I said, closing out the meeting.
* Coronation * Justus POV
Gracia stood to my right as we entered the throne room holding hands. Gracia is wearing a white corset with gold flowers covering it, above the corset going to her shoulders and connecting to long sleeves in lace with gold flowers sewn into the material, and the ball gown skirt matches the corset with a white background with gold flowers covering it. The long veil flowing behind her matches her long sleeves with lace that has gold flowers sewn into the material. I'm dressed in black pants with a red stripe running on the outside of the pants with a black suit top that closes at my shoulder. I'm wearing several medals that I've received as well as a blue sash. My robe that hangs around my shoulders by several golden chains is outlined by snow leopard fur and then the inside is a deep shade of purple to stand for royalty.
I can feel Gracia's hands tremble in mine so I give her a light squeeze so she knows that I'm here for. We had reached the thrones and in front stood a gilded podium with Beta Augusto standing behind it. He first addressed me. "Prince Justus, will you govern in law and justice with mercy in all your judgements?"
"I will." I answered.
"Will you uphold all of the laws and customs of each pack as long as they do not violate someone's civil liberties nor the kingdom's laws?" Beta Augustus asked.
"I will." I answered.
"Will you protect, to the best of your ability, the Kingdom of Werewolves of all known threats." Beta Augustus asked.
"I will." I answered.
"I pronounce you King of the Werewolves." Then he placed a rather heavy crown covered with rubies and emeralds on top of my head along with a golden scepter.
Then he turned to Gracia. "Miss Gracia, as a queen, will you seek ways to work harmoniously with your king for the betterment of the kingdom?"
"I will." She answered.
"Will you stand up for the kingdom in the king's place in case of his absence?" Beta Augustus asked.
"I will." She answered.
"Will you always act with the improvement of the kingdom at your heart's goal?" Beta Augustus asked.All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

"I pronounce you Queen of the Werewolves." Then he placed a crown covered with sapphires and diamonds on top of her head and led us both to our thrones. All of the crowd cheered.
* Castle Safe *
Third POV
The castle vault is where the crown jewels are kept, certain priceless artifacts, and the Key to the Gates of Guinee. It is guarded by two of the most highly trained and respected royal warriors in the kingdom. Older vampires develop different gifts as they get older besides just their inhumane speed, quick healing, and venomous bites. Some older vampires mask their scent, others can make themselves invisible, hypnosis, flight, etc. When a vampire disappears and walks by you it can be difficult to discern that they are there but it is possible. If you are looking for things like changes in the wind or air around you, feeling a new aura passing by, or a metallic smell in the air. While the castle was busy with the coronation, two unknown vampires that had masked their scent and were invisible walked up to the two guards standing in front of the safe. The guard on the left felt an unknown aura walk into the room. "Vampires!" He shouted to alarm the other guard. He started to swipe in front of him with his claws and connected to tissue removing the intestines out of his victim. His guard partner wasn't so lucky and the vampire had killed him before he had a chance to fight back. When the first guard started trying to search for the remaining vampire not wanting to just claw out into the air he was shot dead by a silver bullet in his forehead. There was no coming back from that. The other vampire already knew the combination to unlock the vault due to inside information and once he stepped inside the vault he was met by a large number of other vaults of many different sizes. However, he knew exactly which vault held the Key to the Gates of Guinee and once he had it he stepped back outside of the vault, closed the doors, and left. He needed to meet with the coven at the new location since the old one had now been compromised. A/N Please drop me a comment and let me know if you like the story or the chapter.
