Chapter 1583
Chapter 1583
Corentin went on a stroll with Ashlynn after dinner. Anne used the excuse of her feeling tired to return to her room early.
Ashlynn wondered what it was that was so urgent when she looked at Anne's back as she left.
She did not ask when Anne came back because she did not notice anything unusual about her.
She should still ask about it, right...
"Anne's fine. There's no need to worry about her." Corentin held her hand and gently squeezed it.
"You know about it?"
"If something happened, Anthony would have called as soon as it happened."
Even so, Ashlynn still secretly went to Anne's room to look for her when Corentin was not around at night.
Anne saw her as soon as she opened the door. "Why did you come over? You're carrying a child in your belly now. It's better not to run around.”
Ashlynn entered the room. "Why are you just like Corentin? It's like I'm a fragile item."
"It's better to be careful." It was because Anne did not dare to interact with Ashlynn that she ran back into her room.
At that moment, however, Ashlynn came to her room, so she could only do her best to keep things normal.
"Anne, nothing happened, right?" asked Ashlynn.
Anne smiled. "What's the matter?"
"You ran out frantically, but you came back as if nothing happened. I'm still worried after thinking about it over and over, so I came over to ask you about it. Is everything really alright?"
Anne felt relieved deep down. She thought Ashlynn noticed something unusual!
"Yes. What could've happened to me? At the bottom of it all, it's still because of Tommy. I really want very badly...for him to pay for what he has done." Anne lowered her gaze. It was hard for her to conceal the sorrow she felt deep down. Ashlynn did not know what she was actually sad about. "I desperately want him to die. Why did he become so bad? When we were still children... he was very, very good to me. When Anthony bullied me, he would step up and protect me as long as he was present."
"People change. It's too easy for a good person to turn bad..." said Ashlynn.
Corentin, for example, has turned into a good person, right?
"In any case..., the only thing I want now is for Tommy to pay for it with his life."
Ashlynn realized this was the first time Anne had said such a vicious thing in front of her. Even her eyes were all red.
That showed how much she resented Tommy.
Ashlynn reached out her hand to grab Anne's hand and comforted her. "I've always believed evil people will be punished. Tommy will pay the price for what he has done sooner or later."
Anne looked at the kind Ashlynn.
She doubted if that was truly how it worked.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Why else would he do this to her? She had not done anything wrong!
"I’m fine. Hurry up and go back. Don't make Corentin worry," Anne urged her.
"Alright." Ashlynn stood up, remembered something, and asked, "Did Tommy contact Corentin?"
"Probably...no? If he did, he would tell me."
"Go to bed earlier, then."
After Ashlynn left, Anne stared into space for a while before going to take a shower.
The more she thought about it, the sadder she got.
Tears almost streamed down her face in front of Ashlynn earlier. Luckily, she held them back.
She heard the sound of the room door opening and closing outside.
Her back was facing the bedroom door. The familiar aura in the air made her heart flutter. She could not believe it, and she turned around.
The tall figure, who had already got to the side of the bed, made her feel a great sense of pressure.
Those pitch-black and sharp eyes were looking down at the person on the bed.
Anne was stunned, then tears immediately welled up in her eyes, and she looked like she would not be able to restrain them.
Before tears streamed down her face, Anthony put her in his arms. "It's fine. I'm here."
Anne could no longer hold it back anymore. She wrapped both her arms tightly around that broad shoulder, and then tears gushed down her face and wet his black suit.
