Chapter 80
Chapter 80 I'm Not Allen Parker
Emily shook her head, leaning against the tree trunk as she straightened herself slowly, avoiding his touch. "I'm fine. I just need to rest for a bit....Where's Nathan?" "Don't worry. He's gone."
Emily visibly breathed a sigh of relief. "Good."
Jackson blinked, observing her expression closely. "Are you afraid of him?"
Emily frowned, a look of disgust crossing her face. "I'm not afraid of him. I'm afraid of being involved with him again. If I could, I never want to see him again in my life."
Jackson shrugged. "Although I don't know what happened between you two, it's clear that your marriage wasn't pleasant."
"It was terrible," Emily forced a smile, "Boss, thank you. You've helped me twice. It's because of you that I can get away from Nathan's harassment."
Jackson crossed his arms, a smug look on his face. "Yeah, shouldn't you thank me?"
"Didn't I just thank you?" Emily added, "Thank you again, Boss."
Jackson clearly wasn't satisfied. "Is that all the thanks I get? Just words? I openly opposed Nathan for you, and I didn't even go to attend an important guest in the exhibition hall. All you say is thank you?"
Emily asked, "What do you want me to do to thank you?"
"Tell me that man's name."
Emily knew who he was talking about.
Satan.
"I've thought about it for a long time, but I just can't understand it. Why I lost to to that man who never shows his face? When you were harassed by Nathan, where was he? When you were pregnant and still had to work to earn money, where was he? Letting his woman repeatedly fall into trouble, is he still a man? Let me tell you, Emily, if he were standing in front of me right now, I would definitely beat him up!"
Emily opened her mouth but then froze, seeing the man slowly approaching from a distance. She bit her lip and whispered softly, "How did you come here?"
Mr. Satan, still wearing his mask, reached out his hand to her.
Emily naturally placed her hand in his palm, which he clasped firmly.
His tone was gentle, "We're going home."
Emily nodded.
"Hey!" Jackson called out to them, catching up with a few strides, looking suspiciously at Mr. Satan, his brow furrowing. "Are you Emily's boyfriend?"
Mr. Satan also examined him, his gaze not particularly friendly. "Yes, I'm her man."
Jackson sneered, "Well, that's great. I was just about to ask you, have you fulfilled your duties as a boyfriend? Emily has been harassed by her ex-husband all along, where were you?"
"Do you like Emily?" Mr. Satan's tone was calm.
Jackson's expression changed, annoyed. "Yes, I do like Emily. If you can't protect her well, then don't hold her back."
"Oh?" Satan chuckled softly, "So, you mean you can do better than me?"
Jackson puffed up his chest. "Of course! At least I don't have to live a life hiding behind a mask, not daring to show my face like you do."
Mr. Satan nodded, "Then let me ask you, what do you like about Emily? Is it her beauty? Or her docility?"
"Both," Jackson said, "As long as it's her, I like it."
"So, you're confident you can steal her away from me?"
Jackson confidently replied, "It's just a matter of time. I'll make Emily see my good qualities."
"Time..." Mr. Satan murmured, "Speaking of time, you're far behind. You've known Emily for less than a month."
Jackson was hit where it hurt, but he
didn't back down. "My time isn't much shorter than yours, is it? She's only been separated from Nathan for two months, and we've known her for about the same time
swnov
"No, you're wrong," Mr. Satan said, "When I met Emily, she was still in elementary school."
Emily was shocked in an instant.
She looked at Mr. Satan in disbelief.
Jackson was equally astonished. "How is that possible? But she married Nathan..."
"I've accompanied her through more than a decade of time. I watched her grow up, get married, and then divorced. used to think that her marriage to Nathan was her best choice, and I was willing to respect her decision. As long as she was happy, I could forever stay hidden where she couldn't see me, quietly watching over her. But Nathan disappointed me."
"Mr. Satan, are you my classmate?"
Mr. Satan denied it. "No."
"A teacher?"
"Neither. Emily, you don't know me at all, and you've never been aware of my existence."
Emily didn't understand. "Then why..."
"Because I can't appear publicly for the time being," Mr. Satan sighed bitterly. "I have my reasons."
Emily bit her lip, unsure how to discern his words.
She had seen Allen Parker's true face. She didn't understand why he couldn't appear publicly.
"So, you're not Allen Parker?"Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
"No," Mr. Satan quickly denied. "I denied it from the beginning, when you found out the license plate number. Emily, I've said it before, I'll never lie to you."
Emily was puzzled. "But Allen Parker has taken me back to the Hilton Hotel several times, and he's helped me out..."
"We'll talk about this when we get home," Satan picked her up. "Emily, let's go home first."
Emily was still in shock, unable to react.
Jackson was similarly stunned, standing still in place.
But Mr. Satan had already taken Emily away, and no one cared about his feelings at that moment.
...
In the room at the Hilton Hotel, the curtains were tightly drawn, shrouding the room in darkness.
Mr. Satan carried her into the room, gently laying her down on the bed.
"Emily..."
Emily bit her lip, in the darkness, she could only see his silhouette.
"Who are you?"
"Sorry, Emily, I really can't say right now."
Emily closed her eyes, sighing. "Mr. Satan, I'm feeling a little scared."
"Scared of what?"
"Scared of you," she said. "If everything you've said is true, then for all these years, there has always been someone watching me from behind, and that really scares me."
Mr. Satan's kiss landed on the back
of her hand. "You don't need to be afraid. won't hurt you, I'll only protect you. If it wasn't for Nathan going too far, I might never have shown myself."
