Chapter 41
Chapter 41 I Do
The arrival of Allen Parker made the atmosphere tense.
He walked in, glanced at Emily standing behind Jackson, and at that moment, Emily was also looking at him.
Emily noticed his jawline.
"You've been observing me?" There was a hint of an ambiguous smile on Allen Parker's lips.
Emily quickly averted her gaze. "No, I..."
Jackson interrupted, "Allen, when did you meet Emily?"
Allen Parker raised an eyebrow. "The day you brought Emily to the banquet."
"But Emily said you two knew each other long before that," Jackson turned to Emily, raising his eyebrows slightly. "So, were you lying to me just now?" Emily was captured by his gaze, hesitated for a moment, and didn't know how to answer.
"Jackson, be gentler with girls," Allen Parker patted his shoulder. "Fate between people is unpredictable. Perhaps we've met somewhere else before."
His words were ambiguous, and Emily couldn't tell which was true and which was false.Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
Stepping forward, Jackson stood in front of Emily, blocking her view of Allen Parker. "After this car exhibition, I'll have plenty of time to ask you about this. Emily, let me ask you one last time, are you really not willing to model?" Emily bit her lip, feeling hesitant.
"Jackson, remember you're pleading with her now."
Jackson tightly pursed his lips. "Even if I give you money? Tell me, how much? Whatever amount you want, I'll give it to you."
Emily furrowed her brow. "I've said it before, I won't do it even if you give me ten million."
"Emily," Allen Parker said softly, "this car exhibition is the result of Jackson's hard work over the years, and it's the most important one among these eight exhibitions. I understand you don't want to compromise your principles, but could you help him out? If you refuse monetary compensation, perhaps we can offer other rewards, or I can try to contact a cardiac surgeon from Europe to treat your father."
As he spoke, Allen Parker's gaze was focused, sincere, not intimidating.
This was quite similar to Mr. Satan's demeanor.
Was he hoping to help Jackson with these words?
Emily bit her lip and asked, "Mr. Parker, may I ask you a question?"
"Another question?" Allen Parker chuckled. "Sure, go ahead."
"Have you ever loved a woman deeply? Where is she now?"
Jackson exploded immediately, "Emily, what are you thinking? Are you so curious about my brother's love life?"
Emily firmly said, "I need to confirm some things before deciding whether to help or not."
Jackson chuckled, hands in his pockets. "What do you need to confirm? Why don't you just ask if my brother likes you? Willing to be your boyfriend?"
"Jackson!" Allen Parker's tone carried a warning. "These things aren't secrets. Since Emily wants to know, I can tell her. Yes, I once loved a woman deeply, but she's already engaged, so I decided not to disturb her and quietly withdrew. Are you satisfied with this answer?" Emily took a deep breath, finally feeling less nervous.
It seemed she didn't need to probe anymore. Allen Parker was undoubtedly Mr. Satan.
Her eyelashes fluttered, nodding. "I'll go prepare and change for the show now."
"You..." Jackson widened his eyes in surprise, looking at Emily in disbelief, then turned to Allen Parker. "No matter what I say, you won't agree, but as soon as my brother speaks, you nod. What exactly is your relationship?"
Sitting in front of the dressing table, Emily applied makeup to herself and said, "Don't misunderstand. I have no relationship with Mr. Parker."
Since Mr. Satan didn't want to reveal his identity, she was willing to cooperate with him.
She didn't want to cause trouble for Mr. Satan, as long as she knew his identity, they could pretend to be strangers in front of others.
Meanwhile, Jackson felt insulted by his own intelligence.
"He drove you home, and you ask him about his love life. Now you're telling me you have nothing with him, Emily, do you think I'm a fool?"
Emily sighed weakly, "Boss, the company doesn't have rules against asking about others' emotional status, right?"
"So you admit you like my brother?"
"It's just admiration," Emily tried to explain smoothly, "I think Mr. Parker's words are correct, you are asking for my help. But your attitude makes it difficult for me to assist you." "Okay, Emily, now you're lecturing me?"
"I didn't intend to lecture you, boss. I just think there are many ways people can communicate, some are domineering, some are gentle. We should.communicate well for things to succeed, right? Also, are you sure you want to argue with me now, or should I quickly finish my makeup and change my clothes to go on stage?"
Jackson, feeling frustrated, grabbed his hair, breathing heavily.
But in the end
he didn't continue to
explode. Instead, he left backstage angrily and went to the exhibition hall. Before leaving, he pointed at the clock on the wall and said to Emily, "I won't argue with you, there's ten minutes left."
He left in a huff.
Allen Parker stood in place for a moment, then left like Jackson.
Manager Wilson breathed a sigh of relief and said to Emily, who was doing her makeup, "It's the first time Jackson's been speechless. Emily, you're amazing." Emily put on a glamorous makeup, quickly changed into a tight silver halter dress, and stepped out in high heels.
She wasn't amazing, she was just doing her best to repay Mr. Satan.
Since he wanted her to go on stage as a model, she would.
Her family was small, and in her twenty-six years of life, besides her father and uncle, Mr. Satan was the one who cared for her the most.
As long as he wished it, Emily would do it, even if it was difficult.
"Emily, have you never worn high heels before?"
Emily, wearing high heels, almost stumbled, but Wilson stepped forward and helped her balance.
It was actually her first time wearing such high heels.
She wondered how those female celebrities on TV walked so confidently in high heels every day.
Manager Wilson said, "Let me help you over there. Stand by the car and try not to move too much, okay?" Emily endured the pain in her feet and nodded, "Got it."
