Chapter 455 Punish Her on Their Behalf
Chapter 455 Punish Her on Their Behalf
“I have nothing to hide!” Helga suddenly stood up. “Freya, let me tell you, I want one billion, and you must publicly apologize to me. Otherwise, I will make you regret it.”
Freya quirked a brow in response. “Regret, how? Most people are aware of the story now, and I believe they’re on my side.”
At that, a sly smile appeared on Helga’s face as she opened her handbag in front of Freya.
A bright recording pen appeared in Freya’s view, and a hint of panic flashed across her face. “You actually carry a recording pen with you?!”
Then, Freya composed herself. “I’ve been speaking the truth anyway, so record away.”
Helga switched the recording pen on and played the recording from earlier.
‘Freya, did you call me here to settle things privately?’
I want 500 million.
‘Okay
I, Freya Kaufmann, apologize to Helga for plagiarizing her ingredient list.
Freya’s complexion turned cold as she heard her own voice in the playback. “You’ve taken my words out of context!”
Helga shook the recording pen in her hand. “But who but I would know?”
She was quite clever, segmenting the recording into parts, pausing whenever the conversation turned against her.
Helga’s heart surged with triumph and malice, and she wore a smug expression. “Freya, you don’t need to keep staring at this recording pen. It’s the latest in technology. It backs up to the cloud in real- time as I record. Even if you destroy this pen, I still have the recording.”
Freya gritted her teeth, seething with anger. “Helga, you are truly despicable.”
“Save your words!” Helga glared at Freya in anger. “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have ended up in this situation. Freya, I’ll tell you this: I don’t want 500 million anymore. I want one billion. Otherwise, I’ll release this recording online. Your choice!”
Freya took a deep breath. “Helga, you’ve twisted the truth and plagiarized Wild Wood. I could have reported you to the authorities for that, and I’ve already agreed to give you 500 million. You better stop at that.”
“One billion. Not a penny less!” Helga insisted, clutching the recording pen in her hand.
Freya stared at the recording pen for a while before saying, “Never mind. Actually, the 500 million was a lie to deceive you. I never intended to give it to you.”
Helga was taken aback. “Freya, have you gone mad?”
Freya’s gaze turned indifferent and icy. “Helga, you know what disgusts me the most about you? It’s not just your despicable character, underhanded methods, or previous schemes to defame me. What truly shows. your lack of humanity is that you are fully aware of the unethical mica mining, the fact that it’s tainted, and the use of child labor. Do you know how many children die in those mica mines each year? Yet, you choose to turn a blind eye to it!”
Helga’s face turned cold. “So what? I’m not the one sending those children into the mines. I’m just buying mica!”
Freya sneered. “You are an indirect executioner! I never expected Darrin to support you in this.”
“And you’re still in the mood to meddle in my affairs with Mr. Donnelly?! You better not regret the things you said today!” Helga growled with gnashed teeth, then raised the recording pen. “Just you wait. Wait till you see what those who believe in you will think after hearing this! They may adore you today, but they’ll despise you tomorrow!”
Helga grinned manically, her face consumed by madness. Freya, you haven’t experienced being attacked by the entire internet yet! Even if it’s out of context, just releasing these few lines will ruin you. A medical professor? A philanthropist? To hell with that! You, the heiress of the Kaufmann family, will become the disgrace of your family!”
Freya’s expression was chilling. “Helga, you brought that online backlash upon yourself by doing those things. You orchestrated it all, even using Freeman’s simple-minded girl and your own sister to target me. Don’t you realize how cunning and disgusting you are?”
Even if it was an act, as long as Helga played her part, not many people online would criticize her. Freya said no more and took out a document from her bag, throwing it on the table. “I’ve investigated the mica incident. You’ve indeed violated the law, I’m curious how you managed to escape legal consequences, with the help of Donnelly Group, perhaps? Was it Darrin who helped you, or was it Danna?”
Helga furrowed her brows. “What are you talking about? What Danna?”
Freya observed Helga’s expression, and it didn’t seem like an act. It appeared she genuinely didn’t know Melodie’s true identity.
“I meant, did Darrin help you by bribing people to evade legal consequences?” Freya looked at Helga with a sly smile.
Helga clutched the recording pen, wearing a triumphant and sinister smile. “Don’t you think it’s too late for you to ask this now? Indeed, Melodie and Darrin have assisted me a lot, and they’re my support in the future. Do you really think I’d help you instead of them just for some money? Supporting you would be the end of my career!”
Freya nodded. “Then we have no more to discuss, Helga. You’re beyond redemption, and prison is your only fitted future.”
Helga glared at Freya in anger. “You can try to sue me all you want. But, Freya, you can forget about ever releasing Wild Wood! As long as you dare to hold a launch event, I will sue you. Let’s see who ends up in prison!”
Of course, Freya’s decision not to proceed with the launch would make her appear as if she had something to hide.
Freya stood up and said, “Helga.”
Helga looked at Freya with triumph.
Freya raised her hand.
With a loud smack, the sound of a resounding slap reverberated in the small fitting room.
Freya was a skilled fighter, to begin with, and she used it to its full extent in that slap. Helga’s lips started to bleed, and she was dazed.
Freya followed up with another slap, saying, “The first one was for the children who died in the mica mines. This one is for myself.”
After the second slap, Freya considered and added, “Oh, and for Leah. If I’m not mistaken, you’ve been exploiting your cousin for a long time. So, when you suddenly went to Caltun to see her, you were probably trying to steal the formula behind her back, right?”
Helga regained her senses, took a few steps back in fear and shouted, “If you have the guts, make Leah produce some evidence. She has no proof. She’s been begging me many times lately. You’re the only one. who would treasure such a lowly person. She’s born inferior! Freya Kaufmann, you’re a piece of sh*t!” RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Helga had started to use foul language.
Freya’s gaze turned even colder, glaring at Helga.
She took a step closer, and Helga, who had been disoriented by the earlier blows, stepped back in a hurry. “Freya, if you dare hit me again, I’ll ruin your reputation! I’ll say you wanted to steal the recorder and assaulted me. I’ll go for a medical examination!”
Freya sneered, “You want a medical examination, huh? Let me help you with that. I’ve trained in martial arts for years, so I know very well how to strike, causing pain without leaving any visible injuries.”
She easily caught the frantic and struggling Helga.
The resounding sound of repeated slaps filled the room.
At first, Helga tried to resist, crying out in pain, but eventually, the pain overwhelmed her, and she began sobbing uncontrollably.
Freya looked at her tear-streaked face with disdain and released her grip.
“These slaps are for Leah and for the hard work put in by our Wonder Aroma perfumers.”
“Freya!” Helga roared.
