Chapter 185: Pay the Price
At the sight of Gu Zijin, Qin Muxuan felt her strength left her immediately.
Qin Xiaobai struggled to free himself from her arms, burying himself in Gu Zijin’s chest and shivering.
“Daddy, Dabai and I, we…”
Holding his son in his arms, Gu Zijin patted the kid’s back, “Xiaobai, don’t worry. I’m here. You won’t get hurt.”
The police rushed in to the crime scene. Qin Muxuan rose to her feet from the dirt, walking towards Gu Zijin in silence.
“Gu… Zijin…”
Noticing the restlessness in her eyes, Gu Zijin felt his heart ached. He hugged her instantly.
“I’m here. Sorry for being late. I shouldn’t leave you alone.”
Tears streamed down her face. Qin Muxuan whined. She was so afraid that she would never see him again.
Her hero now was before her. When she was in danger, he would find her by all means.
The medical worker walked over to check Qin Muxuan’s and Qin Xiaobai’s wounds, talking to Gu Zijin.
“They’re fine. There’re only some grazes, but I suggest they go to the hospital for treatment. The grazes might become inflamed. Mr. Gu, what do you think?”
“Got it.”
Gu Zijin drove Qin Muxuan and Qin Xiaobai to the hospital.
Though the kid had been scared, he temporarily forgot what had happened when he saw his father. However, Qin Muxuan couldn’t force a smile.
“Mommy, it’s okay. Daddy’s here.”
Qin Xiaobai seemed to be imperturbable. Hearing his words, Qin Muxuan lifted the corner of her mouth, “I know.”
‘I’m a man. Under these circumstances, mommy needs me. I should be tough!’ Qin Xiaobia said to himself.
They arrived at the hospital and received treatment respectively. Gu Zijin came to Qin Muxuan. Though being sterilized with rubbing alcohol did hurt, Qin Muxuan didn’t bat an eyelash.
“Do you feel better?”
Holding Qin Muxuan’s hands, Gu Zijin asked worriedly.
“Yes… I’m fine.”
“I know you’re scared today. It’s okay. We can take it slow.”
Qin Muxuan gave a smile. She was grateful to him for accompanying her, so she did not need to fear anything now.
Suddenly, she frowned, “Wait. How can you arrive there so quickly?”NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
“I was not in the mood to handle my business when I received your call. I called the police immediately and went there with my men.”
Fortunately, although the criminal was fierce, he lost his mind. She could grasp the opportunity to contact Gu Zijin.
It was a narrow escape. Qin Muxuan slowly exhaled with relief.
“Mommy…”
Xiaobai was protected well by Qin Muxuan, so he was barley hurt. He jumped down from the bed, coming to Qin Muxuan.
“Mommy, we’re all right. It’s best not to think about it. Let’s consider what’s for dinner.”
Qin Xiaobai aimed to distract Qin Muxuan. Hearing his words, she tilted her head, and stared at Xiaobai.
‘Right, we survive. Life’s going on. I have to raise Xiaobai and my unborn baby. I shouldn’t mope around.’
“Okay, what do you want for dinner? I will prepare it for you.”
“Great!”
Qin Xiaobai burst into laughter, throwing Gu Zijin a glimpse.
Lowering his head, Gu Zijin chuckled. He rubbed Qin Xiaobai’s head.
They were back to the Rose Princess.
After the dinner was served, Qin Muxuan sighed. She passed Xiaobai a glass of drink, “To life.”
“Mommy, we must protect ourselves in the future.”
“We will.”
Qin Muxuan turned to Gu Zijin. Her eyes met his. Noticing he was pondering, she asked, “What’s wrong?”
Gu Zijin answered with resolution, “I will send someone to protect you. It was my fault today. I won’t let this happen again.”
Qin Muxuan didn’t say anything but lowered her head. She slowly chewed the food.
Gazing at her movements, Gu Zijin continued, “I’ve asked Lisa to investigate the man.”
“You don’t have to.” Swallowing down the food, Qin Muxuan said composedly, “I know who he is.”
“He’s Yan Yuxiao’s fan. He might suffer mental disorder. He kept saying that if I am dead, Yan Yuxiao could be happier.”
Gu Zijin went mute. ‘Though this case might have nothing to do with Yan Yuxiao, it happened because of my negligence.’
‘It’s time to sort out my relationship with her.’
“Although he’s her fan, I guess she didn’t instruct him to do so.”
“Why do you say so?”
“Apparently, he’s demented. He must be waiting for me at the same place for a long time. When I hailed a cab, he drove by on purpose. Such a man is hard to control. If I were Yan Yuxiao, I wouldn’t choose him.”
Gu Zijin nodded and agreed with her reasonable analysis.
People all said a gravida would become dull, but Qin Muxuan was brilliant. Luckily, they were safe and sound.
After being through all these, Qin Muxuan and Qin Xiaobai were exhausted. After dinner, they washed up and went to bed.
Gu Zijin sat on the sofa in the dim light. His eyes showed a hint of coldness.
‘Those bastards are daring, but it’s my fault because I didn’t make it clear. I feel sorry for Muxuan and Xiaobai.’
After sending someone to guard the villa, he drove back to the Gu’s house.
Elderly Lady Gu was asleep. There was only Yan Yuxiao in the living room.
“Zijin? You’re back? I didn’t know that. Sorry. Are you hungry? Do you need anything to eat?”
“No.”
Gu Zijin glared at her with a gloomy face. Though she asked in a gentle voice, he felt sick when recalling her dirty tricks.
“I’m here today just for cancelling the marriage you’ve made behind my back.”
“Zijin, what did you say?”
“I will post a Weibo with the company’s account to explain the reason I refuse the marriage. Also, I will annul the marriage set by our families.”
“I’m not here for negotiation. I just came here to inform you. Thank you for accompanying my grandma for so long.”
Frowning, Yan Yuxiao gently pulled Gu Zijin’s sleeve, “Why? Are you going to go against your family for Qin Muxuan?”
“It’s not important. I must annul the marriage. You should know that.”
After finishing his words, Gu Zijin was about to left. However, Yan Yuxiao bit her underlip and shouted, “Gu Zijin, stop!”
“Anything else?”
“Your announcement will humiliate me publicly. What am I supposed to do? I will be utterly discredited. Newcomers will chase me out of the entertainment circle!”
Gu Zijin said grimly, “It has nothing to do with me. Someone got hurt because of your ambiguous words. You should pay the price!”
