Chapter 83 – The bait and the fish 1
The auction went on and they both betted on a few items.
Jonathan bought a set of vintage model cars for the twins and Kyle.
Liliana bought a pair of vintage lamps made in the 17th century from gold, diamond, pearls, and crystals.
The Aprices bid for a few items but most of the things in the auction were too expensive for them.
But they still had to purchase something to show off.
They started to bid for a small ring made of gold and jade. It was a beautiful ring, though not an antique so it did not catch Liliana’s fancy.
“Table number 13 says 200 thousand dollars.” The host announced, “Anyone else?”
“We see the window open again. 300 thousand dollars from Box 1.” The host announced.
“And Table 7 says – 500 thousand dollars.”
“Table 13 – 600 thousand dollars.”
“Table 2 – 700 thousand dollars.”
“Table 13 – 800 thousand dollars.”
“Box 1 – 900 thousand dollars.”
“Table 13 – 1 Million dollars.”
“Box 1 – 1. 5 Million dollars.”
Lester hesitated but then he saw one of his competitors looking at him with a smile and the host’s impatient eyes as he looked at him.
Having no choice he raised his hand.
“Table 13 – 3 Million dollars.”
“Box 1 – 5 Million dollars.”
“Table 13 – 10 Million dollars.”
“Anyone else? Table 13 – 10 Million dollars going once, going twice, and this is the last call. Anyone else? Table 13 – 10 million dollars and sold!”
“Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Aprice for owning this beautiful ring for 10 Million dollars and supporting our charity.”
The host said with a small round of applause as they cleared it up and started to showcase the next item.
Lester smiled while clenching his fists hard.
The ring was hardly worth 100 thousand dollars, yet he was goaded into spending 10 million for it by his wife and the others.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
He thought of all the items that had been sold before at 10 million and could only regret it.
This ring would only go on his vain wife’s jewelry collection and people would laugh at him for buying it for 10 million dollars.
Still, he consoled himself, since the highest product bought so far was only worth 400 million dollars, he could still get a nameplate.
Everyone who has spent 1% or more than what the highest item was sold for would get a placard of his name. It was a great prestige and Lester consoled himself thinking he managed to finally get it. It was like an entry into the uppermost class.
Unless someone bought something for more than 1 billion, he would be qualified.
He was happy with the prospect and finally relaxed.
Liliana had raised the bid higher and higher to make a fool of the Aprices and she had indeed succeeded.
Jonathan shook his head at her childishness.
