Chapter 458 Self Inflicted
Nathaniel rubbed his sore brows impatiently.
“You returned from overseas. How can you still be so rigid? You will misunderstand my pure intention.
“Even if my relationship with Janet is unusual, what does it have to do with you?”
There was no need for an outsider to come between them.
Nathaniel straightened his cuffs. Except for Janet’s uncle and brothers, he didn’t have to give a favor to
anyone in America.
Chitt didn’t like Nathaniel very much. It seemed like Nathaniel wanted to get beat
1. up.
Chitt stepped forward and approached Nathaniel sternly. “I think you’re drunk enough to hallucinate, Mr
. Webster.”
“Do you know the difference between wishful
thinking and mutual affection? If you don’t know, I don’t mind telling you.”
Nathaniel was not afraid. The worst that could happen was a fight.
“You don’t seem to understand the situation either. You’ve been seeing each other less than 24 hours,
and has your relationship gone anywhere?”
While speaking, Nathaniel raised his finger, seemingly carelessly stroking his lips. Evil charms bewitche
d the corners of his mouth.
The scene of Nathaniel kissing Janet flashed into Chitt’s mind again. His blue eyes were
like a whirlpool, trying to smash everything around him.
Just when Chitt was about to be unable to restrain his anger and punch Nathaniel, a slender hand grab
bed him.
“I’m tired. Let’s go.”
Janet stared at Nathaniel’s lips, feeling upset.
The depression in Chitt’s chest dissipated in an instant. He ignored Nathaniel and reached out to take J
anet’s handbag.
“I’ll take you home.”
Janet nodded, ready to follow him.
“Janet!” Nathaniel grabbed her wrist, and his face was gloomy.
What was this woman thinking?
Was she leaving in the middle of the night with a guy she just met who had terrible intentions?
Could it be that her cleverness, alertness, and vigilance were all for him?
“Did you just leave with him? What time is it now? Do you feel secure when you leave alone with a stra
nge man you just met so late?”
Janet looked at him sarcastically. “He is a strange man, so are you an acquaintance?”
Nathaniel took a step closer, looked down at the stubborn woman in front of him, and
felt distressed.
“What do you know? Men know men best. Don’t I know the intention of his gratuitous gallantry?”
Janet raised his eyebrows and looked at him amusedly. “What about you? You’re also being courteous,
so what’s your intention?”
“I!”
Nathaniel was furious.
Didn’t she know his intention?
Nathaniel stubbornly tugged her wrist. “You can’t leave with him. I don’t trust him.”
Janet shook off Nathaniel irritably. “Chitt is Donahue’s friend. He just sent me home. Can you stop bein
g so nervous?”
Nathaniel was taken aback and suddenly felt these words were inexplicably familiar.
Alcohol confused his mind, and it took him a long time to finally remember he and Janet
had indeed said these words to each other.
After a family dinner that year, Anastasia called Nathaniel and told him that she had
drunk too much and asked him to pick her up.
Janet pulled his sleeve to prevent him from leaving. “Can you not go? It’s so late, are
you going to leave me alone to pick up another woman?”
Nathaniel also shook off her hand in the same way, asking her why she made trouble for
no reason.
“She is inconvenient to move. What’s the matter if I go to help her? Can you stop being
jealous for no reason?”
On that cold, snowy night, Nathaniel left Janet alone and drove to find Anastasia by
himself.
Janet didn’t take a taxi and walked for half a night in a daze before arriving home and
caught a high fever that night. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
And Nathaniel came back in the middle of the night, went straight to the
bedroom, and didn’t even look at her.

Janet stared into his eyes. “You are so forgetful, Mr. Webster. You probably forgot what
you had said.”
Nathaniel felt a pain in his heart, and his face turned pale instantly.

But Janet still refused to let him go. “You once said I had no right to be jealous, and now
I will give it back to you.”
How ridiculous! What Nathaniel had done to Janet in the past returned to him.
