My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0365

Chapter 0365

The traffic police arrived swiftly, and the scene was promptly handled.

Because Candice had been protected by Alex, she didn't sustain any injuries. Both Sawyer and Alex had varying degrees of scrapes, however.

When the driver of the van was detained, he reeked of alcohol. It was evident he had been driving under the influence.

Candice's gaze shifted to the rear of their car, where the damage was severe. The side of the car had also sustained a lot of damage. Sawyer had turned right and hit a medium-sized flowerbed.

She had an indescribable feeling and thought it couldn't be merely an accident.

She looked up again at the van driver, of average height, dressed in ordinary sportswear, a face that could blend into a crowd without being noticed.

But before Candice could take a closer look, she was called over by the traffic police for registration.

After everything was arranged, she turned to look at Alex and Sawyer.

Her face was somewhat serious. "We won't go to today's summit. Let's go to the hospital first."

Alex had scapres on his forehead and around his eyes, and there were also some on the exposed knuckles of his fingers. Candice knew from seeing the injuries that some of them were because he had protected her. She couldn't just leave him.

She took out a few band-aids from her bag and handed them to Alex. "Use these for now."

Alex looked up at her, his face injured, which diluted his usual dignity. Against the light, his dark eyes looked at Candice.

She understood his meaning. She knelt on one knee in front of him and looked up at the wound on his forehead. She coincidentally met his eyes. His eyelashes were long, making his eyes appear particularly deep.

Candice hesitated, then pursed her lips and took out disinfectant wipes from her bag. She said softly, "Tilt your head."

Alex cooperated very well, acknowledging and lowering his head. Candice carefully treated the wound on his forehead with the disinfectant wipes.

Her movements were light and slow, and she leant forward as she worked, slowly growing closer to Alex by coincidence.

Her body carried the scent of orange blossoms, gradually reaching Alex. His lowered eyelashes trembled, and before Candice could stick the band-aid on him, he reached out and brushed her aside.

His voice was hoarse. "We'll deal with it at the hospital."

Since Alex himself said so, Candice naturally wouldn't insist on anything. She stood up and checked her phone, intending to call Abel.

But she found that Angela had already sent her two or three WhatsApp messages, asking why she hadn't arrived yet.

Candice replied briefly to Angela, then heard Sawyer saying, "I've contacted a private hospital. Mr. Elysian and Candice, you two go first. I'll handle things here."

Sawyer was sitting in the driver's seat, clearly injured as well. Candice originally wanted him to accompany Alex to the hospital while she stayed to deal with the situation.

He guessed her thoughts and explained, "This car belongs to the head office's branch in Solaris. The procedures are a bit complicated. I just called Stefan, the secretary there. He'll come over in a while."

Candice nodded and didn't say anything more, then accompanied Alex to the hospital.

-

Although Alex's injuries looked severe, they were only minor flesh wounds that didn't reach the bone, so applying some ointment would suffice.

Candice sighed with relief when she got the prescription. If something had really happened to him, it would have been difficult to handle.

"I'll go get your medication. Just wait for me in front," she said.

Alex also had many scrapes on his arms, and Candice thought it would be better for him to stay away from the crowd.

But he said, "No need." He looked at the registration area in front, then glanced at Candice. "You'd better get checked too."

Candice didn't feel uncomfortable anywhere on her body. She was about to say she didn't need to, but she felt Alex's gaze on her stomach.

She swallowed down the words that had been on her lips. Candice fell silent for a moment, nodded, and turned to register herself.

After a thorough examination, the results were all good, and the fetus was not affected. However, the doctor still advised her to rest more.

She thanked the doctor and was about to leave when she suddenly heard Alex's voice asking the doctor, "She was frightened. Is she really okay? Could there be something that hasn't shown up yet?"

Candice paused and looked at Alex.

The doctor responded, "That's a possibility, but according to the current examination results, the child is indeed fine. If the family is concerned, it's best for the pregnant woman to be observed at home."

Alex seemed completely unconcerned about the word "family" the doctor mentioned, calmly acknowledging it, then led Candice out.

It wasn't until they left the doctor's office that Candice said, "The examination results already said everything is fine. Why did you continue to ask the doctor?" Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Alex glanced at her and said softly, "If we don't clarify now, it might be too late if something comes up later."

She frowned, thinking to herself that this child had nothing to do with Alex. He didn't need to be so involved. But before she could speak, she suddenly saw a figure at the entrance of the hospital.

She slowly halted, staring straight in that direction.

Sensing something amiss with her, Alex also stopped and followed her gaze. He saw a middle-aged man and a young woman standing at the hospital entrance.

The young girl was intimately holding the man's arm, looking very close to him. The man, with a gentle and refined demeanor, had handsome and gentle features.

More importantly, he bore some resemblance to Candice.

And it was the young woman who first noticed Candice. She paused while holding Henry's hand, then asked him with confusion, "Why is that girl over there staring at me weirdly?"

Following her gesture, Henry looked over and coincidentally met Candice's gaze. He was momentarily stunned, then almost instinctively let go of the young woman’s hand.

Candice observed his small gesture. Even though she knew she would eventually meet her father one day, she had never expected it to be under such circumstances.

She didn't move, just watched as Henry, after letting go of the girl's hand, hurriedly ran towards her with anxiety written all over his face. When he reached her the anxiety was replaced by a smile that could be called affectionate.

He panted lightly, looking at Candice. "Candice, is it really you?"

Listening to his earnest concern, Candice's gaze couldn't help but fall to the hand that had been holding the girl’s.

Henry was completely oblivious to her aloofness. His eyes smiled sincerely, scrutinizing her from head to toe.

Finally, he even reached up to take off his glasses and wiped away the tears, sighing and choking up, "My precious daughter has grown up so much, it's wonderful, truly wonderful."
