My Husband Wants Me Dead (Esther and Bradley)

Chapter 227

Chapter 227

Bradley glanced at the gold-embossed name on the business card-Oliver Quill.

The business card had a simple and elegant design, with no job position or company name, only a

name and a string of digits.

Disinterested, Bradley closed the car window and casually discarded the business card, which landed

in Esther’s open handbag like a falling leaf in the autumn breeze. He started the car and drove away

swiftly.

Meanwhile, Oliver, still standing there, made a mental note of the license plate number. He planned to

ask someone he knew to investigate the car’s route.

Oliver got into his car and returned to the cemetery. When the cemetery manager saw him, they were

about to speak, but Oliver silenced them by handing over an envelope.

“Do you need any assistance, sir?” the manager asked.

In a gentle tone tinged with anger, Oliver replied, “I’d like to review the surveillance footage.”

“Please follow me.”

The manager led Oliver to the surveillance room, where the staff retrieved the recent footage.

Oliver watched the surveillance footage of Esther and Felix, his heart twitching as he struggled to

believe that this was his late sister’s daughter.

“Does she come here often?” Oliver asked.

“She has been coming frequently recently. There were some issues earlier,” the manager explained

with a smile. “I heard from the previous manager. She used to like sitting in front of the tombstone,

even on weekends and holidays. Sometimes she would do her homework there.

“Do you know her?” Oliver inquired.

The manager smiled awkwardly and replied, “I don’t know her personally, but the previous manager

did. She’s a nice girl. It’s said that she went through some terrible abuse…”

Frowning slightly, Oliver wondered who could have mistreated a child from the Quill family. He handed

a business card to the manager and said solemnly, “If she comes to the cemetery again, please call

me.”

“Of course, Mr. Quill.” C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.

Realizing he should inform his family about his sister having a daughter, Oliver requested a copy of the

surveillance footage. As his main base was not in the city, he was unfamiliar with the local roads, which

resulted in him losing track of Esther.

Unbeknownst to him, she was currently trapped in a dangerous situation.

The incident at the wedding between Bradley and Liliane had become widely known, including to

Esther, who was shocked by Bradley’s actions during the wedding. She had thought he genuinely

wanted to marry Liliane, but it turned out that he only wanted to humiliate her,

leaving her no chance to defend her past actions publicly.

Esther was always soft-hearted. Now, with the videos Bradley played, the suspicions of her supposed

betrayal were completely cleared. She naively thought that as long as she appeared before Bradley,

they could put aside their grievances and live a happy and loving life together.

However, the black-clad men holding her captive saw through her intentions.

“Mister, you’ve seen it too. Bradley didn’t marry Liliane. I’m still his legal wife. If you release me…”

One of the black-clad men glanced at Esther and sneered. “Mrs. Warner, are all wealthy people as

naive as you?”

“What’s the point of talking to someone like her? She knows nothing about the harsh realities. of life,”

the other black-clad man added. “Compared to what we’ve experienced, her biggest setback was

spending five years in prison. It means nothing to us!”

Esther’s head sank in despair. She had hoped to find an opportunity to make these men lower their

guard, but now she realized it was merely wishful thinking.

“Mister, I need to use the restroom,” she pleaded.

One of the black-clad men looked at Esther cruelly and replied, “Hold it in.”
