Chapter 35: The Scene Was Unsuitable for Kids (The End)
Sitting upon his father’s knees, Jiabao Jane took out a certificate from his bag and unfolded it before his father’s eyes, looking like presenting a treasure. “Boss, you know what, Youyou and I have got a bet. If I won the first place in the Spoken English Competition of the City, she would add 2, 000 Yuan to my private coffer. Well, it’s time for her to make good on her word.”
Don’t think Jiabao Jane would give up his big goal of saving money to start his own business just because he had a rich dad. Over the past year, he had gotten a great deal of venture capital from his parents by proper and improper means. At this pace, he would have his own computer company by the capital when he was sixteen years old.
Che Stuart raised his hand and patted his son on the head, “It’s okay that you defraud my wife of her money, but could you please correct the form of address? Youyou is your mother and I am your father, I’m not your boss!”
It was all right at a usual time, but every time the couple took Jiabao Jane to parties, the kid always called his mother’s name-Youyou again and again and again, which misled the others into believing his mother was still single, so that Che Stuart was always jealous for those boring men’s passionate pursuit of his wife.
Instead of turning into an untidy housewife after marriage, Jingyou Jane was charming enough to infatuate all sentient beings. What a terrific beauty! Of course, Che Stuart did not want his wife to be too conspicuous.
“Boss, what I do is just for your own good. You are such a handsome man. If you were known as the daddy of some little boy, some beautiful sisters and aunts who secretly adored you would be sad to death.”
Jiabao naughtily winked at his father and said in a teasing tone, “Keeping the unique charm is an important code of conduct for you, isn’t it?”
Even though he felt somewhat guilty, it soon disappeared when he recalled what Che Stuart had done in the past year. Despite having given up the inheritance of Cosmos Group, Che Stuart set up a new company – Jane’s Business in Hong Kong and gained a firm foothold in the business circles in such a short time. Now Jane’s Business became a unique and outstanding entity in Hong Kong owing to his great commercial talent.
Besides, in order to fawn over Jingyou Jane, he prefixed her surname to his company’s name and made her the real behind-the-scenes boss.
“Don’t think I don’t know why you did that. You’re afraid of being known as my son. In this way you will probably become a nominal hero with no place to display your ability in the future, right?”
His remarks hit the mark. Jiabao grinned at him and flattered, “Boss Stuart, you are so wise that you can easily figure out my mind. I have to say you have a brain like a computer.”
Stuart could not help but laugh for being described as a computer by his son. He helplessly patted his son on the back side of head, “After your ninth birthday, I’ll formally change your name to Jiabao Stuart. If you still don’t call me dad at that time…”
He squinted at Jiabao’s little buttocks and continued, “I will take you over my knee.”
“I strongly disagree with your intention. It’s a kind of domestic violence!” Jiabao lifted his hands above his head to show his protest.
“Your objection is invalid!” Che Stuart unscrupulously caught his son’s little hands and put them down, and then said stoutly, “This is my final decision. If you don’t obey me, your mother and I will never give you any money as a reward from now on!”
“In the past, there was a man called Cao Cao who had a firm hold over the emperor to oppress the dukes. Now, you are doing the same thing. You tyrant!”
“You little devil…”
They fell into a new heated argument, and just then Jingyou Jane walked out of the kitchen gracefully with a plate of assorted fresh fruits in her hands. She shook her head and couldn’t hold back her laughter when she saw them sitting on sofa and glaring at each other with burning, reproachful eyes.
“Jiabao is still a child and has no brain, but you are an adult. Why do you behave like a childish, retarded little boy? You two are always wrangling over trifles. Would you please be more grown-up?”Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Her ironic comments attracted their attention, and they both turned around to stare at her with disapproval and spoke at the same time–
“What do you mean I have no brain?” It was Jiabao’s voice.
“What do you mean I’m retarded?” It was Che Stuart’s voice.
Jingyou Jane, who was not swayed by their accusing gaze, picked up two grapes and squeezed them into her husband’s and son’s mouths. “Don’t look at me with your puppy dog eyes. Che, next Tuesday is your father’s birthday. He called me yesterday and hoped we could go to America to celebrate his birthday.”
“No way!” Che Stuart’s face turned cold in an instant. He chewed the grape and swallowed it, and then said firmly, “From now on, I will never step into the territory of the United States until I die. “Come on. He’s your father…”
Che Stuart gave a snort of contempt and complained, “But if he didn’t separate you from me, I wouldn’t have been abandoned by you for eight years! I don’t want to forgive him until eight years later.”
Jane could not help pinching his ears at the sight of the wayward expression on his face. “You’re already twenty-eight years old. Act like an adult. Okay?”
“Don’t you hate him?” Che Stuart wrinkled his eyebrows like a curious child. “If it hadn’t been for his self-righteousness, we would not have suffered from family separation for so long. And if I were you, I would hate that geezer and never make contact with him.”
“I want to hate him, but…” Jane gently cupped his handsome face in her hands and continued, “He is old, and he needs his son and grandson. Although he did something wrong to me in the past, I have taken his son away in return. So we are even. Che, try to understand him. You always spoil me with all your love, but treat him as your enemy. I’m afraid I will feel guilty.”
“You little fool, you are my girl and I’m willing to do everything for you. But that geezer…” He pulled Jingyou Jane close to him and declared, “I have said that, whoever hurt you, I would find him and pay him back. Even my father is no exception!”
“Che…” she muttered with a slight frown of disapproval.
“Okay, I will do as you wish,” Che Stuart compromised. “Later I’ll ask my secretary to cancel my schedule in next Tuesday. And I will take you to America to see if that bad old man is still alive. Are you satisfied now?”
Jingyou Jane was completely moved by his words. She felt herself the luckiest woman in the world for having him by her side. They looked into each other’s eyes with tenderness, and slowly their lips met as if there was a magnet pushing them together.
Jiabao Jane, who was sandwiched between the couple, had difficulty in breathing.
“Hey, you two lovebirds, let me go! If you want to have a romantic date, find another place. It’s really unsuitable for a kid to see that…” he yelled.
Jiabao felt helpless about being completely ignored. With a sour face, he sighed and thought, “What a terrible couple!”
God, help me…
