Chapter 37 War Stories
Tyler
Larry was out of the shower half an hour later, still looking like a dead man walking but at least he doesn’t stink. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“Thanks for gracing me with your presence,” he smirked and quickly took a drink of his coffee when I gave him a fresh cup.
“Stop being a smart ass, sit and eat.”
He did so and I started talking to him about the day I was away to attend his meeting, the clients that Larry was supposed to care for.
“You’re going to make dad pluck you out of your sofa if he finds out before me coming here.”
“Well, lucky me that Jess has a coffee date with your ex that you can sober me up before that happens, right?”
“One more snarky comment and I’m going to leave you and let dad pick up your pieces and mom scolded you and take you to all of her afternoon teas and make sure you go home with a future bride.”
“Fuck! you really know how to push my buttons don’t you?”
“Not more than Gemma I assumed looking at you and your place, call your maid service tomorrow and tell her to clean this up before mom sees all of this.”
Larry nodded and started munching on the French toast while I told him about the first time I saw Jess and Elsie laughing in her office while having their lunch.
He didn’t laugh, but he smiled a lot, I know my situation amuses him. But I take in the satisfaction that he can not laugh wholeheartedly with his headache.
“Now, about you and Gemma?”
“I fucked up, big time.”
“We made mistakes, surely you can find a way for her to forgive you?”
“She was a virgin, and I… I take the one thing that I can never give her back.”
“Oh, shit…”
“I know, I feel so fucking awful. And the worst part was she didn’t ask for anything. She didn’t imply that she even wanted a relationship as if I was just a tool for her to lose her virginity.”
“That’s so messed up, I’m sorry she felt that way.” I reached out and put my hand on his shoulder. He pushed away his empty plate and looked at me, his eyes were a bit glassy. This was not the Larry I grow up with, he changed, he looked older, he looked… like he’s in love with Gemma.
I didn’t know what to say to him, but I did tell him to go back to the office by Monday and deal with the issue like a man. Talk to her, and patch things up quietly.
He nodded saying thank you for looking out for him.
“You’re my annoying little brother, of course, I’ll snap you out of your intoxication.”
We talked for a couple of more hours, I told him about future meetings with his clients. Then he finally opened up and told me about his real situation with Gemma. We parted after he promised me that he’ll come to the office on Monday.
Jessica was already back when I stepped into the apartment. She was snuggled up on the sofa with a wine glass in her hand, she looked relaxed and seem like she had a good time earlier.
“Hey, where did you go?”
“I was at Larry’s, he’s a freaking mess.” I was to her side in a couple of strides and took her glass and finish it in one gulp.
“That bad huh? you want to unload?” she took the glass and pour me some more.
“It’s Larry and his PA, Gemma. He’s a freaking mess right now, but he’ll get over it. I did tell him to come to work on Monday.”
“Oh! I’ve just heard about their not-so-discreet love affair from Elsie this afternoon!” she giggled like a schoolgirl and gasped the second I pulled and gave her my hard kiss.
“Tyler!”
“What? I like your laugh.” I shrugged and told her to continue.
“Okay, look, why don’t I request HR to borrow Gemma? give those two lovers some space?”
“Where do you come up with this idea?”
“Well, actually, Elsie told me earlier… she’s actually kind of nice, Tyler.”
I was still not convinced about her befriending my ex.
“Mmh… hmm,” I took another sip of the wine and actually think about her suggestion, telling me that the distance might bring the couple closer together.
“So, what else did you talk about with Elsie?”
“If you’re implying that I talk about you, then no… but we did talk about Brodie MacMillan.”
She looked at me while I put the glass on the coffee table. “And why did you talk about him? I thought there was nothing going on between Brodie and you?”
“Ty, love… stop acting like a possessive caveman. I didn’t have any past with him, he had this look, I think it was because he was best buddy with Troy that I was always intimidated by him. Every time he lay his hand on me, I…”
“You’re not making me feel any better here, Jess.” I started pouring the wine and drinking it as if it’s ice water on a very hot day.
“Sorry, but the point is, I think Elsie wanted him, and you know her. She’s a woman with purpose and she won’t stop until she was told otherwise.”
That part of Elsie I know very well, she can be a real bitch, but I know deep down she’s just a very driven woman in all aspects of life just like she does in her work.
“I do, she’s Elsie, so… you’re giving her advice now?”
I hated the fact that she might know more about Brodie, it bothered me though she said otherwise.
“Not that she didn’t notice already, she’s a smart woman, I was there mostly for the chat. I missed having my girl talk, and I can’t exactly talk to Amanda. She always has this look on her, as if I’m a victim, you know?”
Sighing deeper, I finally pulled her in and kissed her lips chastely. I love that she was reaching out to people and didn’t want to be pitied. I know her session with Dr. Sheridan was directing her to a much better mindset, and I love her more because of her drive, her spirit to get herself out of her deepest darkest past.
“I know, baby, and I also know you didn’t want to hurt Amanda’s feelings and keep on talking and seeing her every time she asks.”
“She’s been so nice, and I love her little family.”
I pulled her closer to my lap and started kissing her with more vigor.
“We will have our own little family, two kids, two pets, or maybe multiply that by two?”
She giggled in my arms, grinding my cock, and easily made me hard between the legs.
“You’re such a little tease aren’t you?”
Her top was off in seconds and she arched her back the moment I latched my lips to her nipple.
“Hmm… but you love me anyway.”
“I do, fuck… baby, I do…”
