Chapter 9: Nothing has changed
Chapter 9: Nothing has changed
"What the fuck do you want Jack?", was the first thing I spat on my so called, bitch of an ex.
He rubbed his neck with his hand and fixed his hair. "OK. I deserved that."
I rolled my eyes. "Trust me, if Spencer was here you would've gotten hell. She's been wanting to meet
you. And she's been training too."
"I didn't come here to argue with you Emerald." A part of me feels so God damn good hearing him call
my name. I want to strangle that part of me. And through it in a ditch.
"Then what did you come for?", I challenge him.
" I want to talk to you."
"What?"
"I want to talk to you", he tries again raising his voice up a notch.
"What?", I say pretending not to hear him.
"I want to talk to you-"
"I heard you the first two times dumbass", I snort.
His face flushes. "Stop playing so hard to get."
"What happened to Lia?", I ask referring to the girl I caught him cheating on you with.
"She found someone else", he said looking pained.
"Must've been hard for you."Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
"Look Emerald", he says his face all serious, "I made a stupid decision. I can't begin to tell you how
stupid I feel for letting you go."
"You never let me go. I was never in your hands."
"Can we talk somewhere else private?", he asks.
"No can do my guy", I say walking off. He grabs my hand, pulling my hand.
I brush off his hand. "Don't touch me."
"Please", he begs.
"Fine", I growl.
I follow him upstairs and into a small bedroom far from most of the noise.
"I want you to know that I made a stupid decision and I regret cheating on you. I know this is a lot, but
can you forgive me?", he asks desperation evident in his voice.
"I forgave you a long time ago. No hard feelings."
He grins. "No hard feelings. And thank you, it means a lot to me. My parents hated me when they
heard about what i did."
I nod and open the door to leave. Jack's hand finds it's way once more to my hand.
"Can you quit touching me? -"
I'm cut off as Jack leans closer to my face, and kisses me.
I pull away from him - obviously and wipe my mouth on my hand. His mouth tastes like alcohol and
strawberries?
"You are such a fucking jerk!" I hit him in his chest, and storm out of the room.
I hurry downstairs and walk past a bunch of teens playing truth or dare, or beer pong. Passed out
people are scattered on the couch, oblivious to all the trash that is on them.
I walk outside to get some fresh air. I run my hand through my blonde hair and look at the sky. It's dark,
probably around midnight, but there is still enough light for me to see Vanessa sitting in the lap of a
totally different boy, sucking his tongue out, while he tries to prevent them both from falling off the lawn
chair, and two teenager under a tree making out.
"Hey blondie ", a voice from in the dark greets me. A teen, who is apparently drunk or high on some
shit, walks out of the dark, and towards me.
"My name is Emerald, and I would prefer it if you took your drunk, creep ass somewhere else." He
smiles at me and continues to stagger towards me. "Come on baby", he slurs, "don't be like that."
I make my way back inside and sit on a chair near a window. A few guys come up to ask me if I want a
drink, or to dance, but I refuse politely.
"Emerald!", a familiar, cheery voice calls. A drunk version of my best friend walk up to me, 100 percent
under the influence of alcohol.
"Spencer! Nice seeing you after you totally ditched me! Where were you?", I ask.
Spencer ignores me and starts to sing, 'On the twelve days of christmas'.
