Chapter 33: Brownies
Chapter 33: Brownies
"Liam has told me so much about you." Sarah says to my surprise. I arch an eyebrow in question and
slight confusion. "Good things, I hope." I reply and chuckle nervously just as Liam walts into the
kitchen. He takes one look at me then his eyes move over to his Mother, who is busy sprinkling
sprinkles on a dozen cupcakes she had made earlier. I had learnt that Sarah loved to bake, she
basically baked everyday. "Mother, what did I tell you about stuffing everyone with your baked goods?"
Liam groans. Sarah defensively crosses her arms and her eyes narrow at her son. "What, are you
afraid I'll take her away from you? I mean, I understand because you can't cook or bake to save your
life." Sarah has a smug smile on her lips and I try holding in the snicker lodged in my throat. Liam
groans again and hurriedly leaves the kitchen after quickly sneaking a gaze at me. "Don't mind him,
he's just jealous." Sarah tells me and rolls her eyes. Liam's mom is so nice and caring. She seems
genuinely friendly and also kind, like her son. I nod helplessly, not sure of what to say. I lift another
brownie to my mouth. I've eaten at least four (4) already but they are so good. No doubt Sarah is good
at baking stuff, she would probably make a pretty penny from selling her baked goods. Just then,
Spencer enters the kitchen before Sarah or I can say anything else to each other. "Hey!" She exclaims
and looks at me with a smile on her face. She seems out of breath, for what reason I do not know. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
"Spencer, hey. Nice to see you. Where'd you disappear off to?" I ask. My best friend takes a seat at the
island, beside me. "Oh, nowhere. I was just too invested in my cookies to remember you." Spencer
replies and smiles up at Sarah. I can tell Spencer is fond of her, maybe because she gives her baked
goods on a regular because otherwise, Spencer does not like anyone at all. It seems like Liam and
Spencer are also good friends. I mean, I would expect tbat because they are neighbour's but to me it
seems s if they have a undefined friendship that I don't quite know about, or even understand. I chew
the rest of my brownies before replying to my bestfriend. "Feeling the love, Spencer. It's so like you to
ditch me for food." I chuckle and Spencer and Sarah joins me in laughter. Sarah stands from her seat,
across from our seats at the island. "I think you girls better wash up now." She says and Spencer and I
nod in agreement. I could really take a nice, long bath right now to get rid of most of the stress I'm
experiencing right now. Spencer and I take the elevator upstairs to the second floor. "I'm still in awe
because of how huge this house is." I tell Spencer and she gives a little laugh. "Well, it's designed to
keep an entire pack house so it has to be huge." Spencer replies. I still don't understand most of th e
stuff when it comes on to this werewolf issue. Half of me still can't comprehend how any of this is
possible. It still doesn't mean I don't believe. People don't just transform into huge wolves by accident.
When the the time is right I'll ask Liam about all of this. Surely he can explain to me in a way that my
small brain will be able to understand. Right now my head is spinning like a screw. I feel like I've just
come off of one of the roller coasters that they always have at the fair we have once a year in our
community. Suddenly thought hits me like a bus. How did Spencer know where I was when Liam came
to rescue me that time I got kidnapped? There was no way Spencer could've known where I was if
Liam hadn't informed her. But why would Liam endanger Spencer like that? She is human, and is just
as useless as I am when it comes on to fi gh ting against supernatural forces. But of course, maybe
Spencer was being obstinate about coming to 'save'me and forced Liam to make her come with him.
But she was all alone, without anyone to protect her. Did she need protection? Oh my god, Spencer's
