Chapter 28: Heading Home
Chapter 28: Heading Home
LIAM'S POV
Liam was the definition of astonished when Emerald leaned in to kiss him, her full lips on his skin made
his heart flutter. She seemed bold now, which was rare as he had been led to think that she was
extremely shy. His wolf, Zane, was eager to get close to his mate but Liam told him that they would
have to be patient with Emerald. After all, she was human. He was not sure how the pack would react
to her as having a human mate in the supernatural was a rare phenomenon. Some supernatural
creatures despised humans, thinking of them as weak and pathetic. But having known Emerald, she
was the opposite of that. She had not a clue of the power that she possessed over him, nor did she
know that she was the only thought on his brain all day, everyday. Thinking about her quirky smile, her
sassy attitude and her genuine personality brought a little light in Liam's bleak life. He was certain that
she was his mate, and though she was human, he vowed to love and protect her. She was perfect, to
him a god sent them like her namesake. Nothing or no one could change Liam's mind about how he felt
about Emerald. He didn't know her as well, but he promised himself that he would get to know every
single small detail about her. He knew that seeing her so vulnerable today would take a huge toll on his
sleep. Everything she did affected him. Everything. Whether deliberately or not. She poured her entire
heart out today, in desperation from every burden she has been going through. Liam tried not to blame
himself for dragging her into this entire mess, into the world of supernatural creatures. She looked like
a small lost puppy, which was heart breaking enough for Liam than thinking he was the cause of it all.
EMERALD'S POV
Kissing Liam Jones was a dream all by itself. If someone had told me that I would be bold enough to
have the guts to kiss Liam Jones then I would've laughed in their faces. After that brief affectionate
moment, I looked up at Liam and his cheeks were ruby read and I laughed at him making him blush
more. I wanted to pull his hair so badly but I needed to figure out my feelings for Liam later and deal
with my own bangle now. I had school tomorrow, and Spencer was going to have to drive me back
home so that I could prepare. I have tons of homework to finish, and those essays aren't going to write
themselves. "Do you think you can probably drive me home?" I ask Liam. A few minutes ago I was
talking about burdening people and trying to behave 'INDEPENDENT' but here I am begging Liam for a
ride. I really need to go join a club with the description, 'Hypocrites Only'. Because that is exactly what I
am. "It's fine. I'll drive you." Liam says without breathing. "No. I don't want to bother you. You probably
have more things on your plate than I do." I say and I can almost see my subconscious shaking her
head whilst saying, 'Pathetic.' Liam tells me once more that he'll drive me home and that it'll be no
problem at all, his voice leaving no room for an arguement. "Can we stop for Macdonald's first though? NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
I'm starving." Tomorrow I'll focus on my independence, I can't reject food like that, especially if it's free.
Which leads me to another thought. I really need to get a job so I can start making my own money. I
can't depend on my parents all the time for money, and I most definitely won't depend on any of my
friends. I saw a bookstore that was accepting employees but in my haste and attempt to run away from
my bestfriend I forgot. "Then let's get going!" Liam yells and I think I've finally found someone who is as
enthusiastic as me when it comes on to the topic of food.
