Chapter 135_ Interrogation
As Damien pushed open the heavy glass door, a bell above it rang out, announcing his arrival. The police station’s lobby was bustling with activities, officers typing away on their computers, suspects being led in handcuffs, and worried-looking civilians filling out forms.
Damien’s tailored suit and confident stride set him apart from the crowd. He approached the front desk alongside Olivia, where a harried-looking officer looked up from her screen.
“Mr Sterling! can I help you sir?” she asked, her tone had a hint of excitement in it..
“I’m here to see Officer Jameson,” Damien replied, his deep voice commanding attention. “I need to find more information about my mother’s murder case.”
The officer’s expression softened slightly. “I’ll let him know that you are around.. Please take a seat” she pointed to the seat in front of her..
“I’d rather speak with him now, it’s urgent”
The officer nodded and picked up the phone, dialing a quick extension. “Officer Jameson, Mr Sterling is here to see you regarding a murder case. Yes sir”
She hung up and gestured toward a door behind her. “Officer Jameson will see you now, Mr. Sterling. Please go in.”
Damien nodded curtly and strode towards the door with Olivia, his eyes scanning the station with a mix of disdain and determination.
As he entered the hallway, Officer Jameson emerged from a nearby room, his expression a blend of professionalism and empathy.
“Mr. Sterling, thank you for coming in. I understand you need information regarding the murder of your mother”
Damien’s jaw clenched. “I want to see the suspects you’ve kept behind bars.”
Jameson’s expression turned cautious, he has heard about this man’s temper and he didn’t want to fall a victim to it..
“Uh.. right this way”

The walk to the interrogation room seemed to drag on forever..
Officer Jameson’s firm hand grasped Damien’s shoulder, halting his stride. “Mr. Sterling, I understand your desire for justice, but let’s not rush into this.”
“I want to see them,” Damien growled, his eyes blazing with a mix of grief and anger.
“I understand, but we need to do this by the book. We can’t have you confronting the suspect without proper procedure.”
Damien’s jaw clenched. “You’re worried about procedure? My mother is dead because of whoever they are!.”
Jameson’s expression softened. “I know, sir. But we need to ensure a conviction. If you go in there and… do something reckless, it could jeopardize the entire case.”
“Uh.. give us one second officer” Olivia requested to receive a nod, she took a step closer to Damien, she understood he was mad and annoyed but he had to control his temper for a while until they were able to speak with the suspects..
“Damien please, just be calm” she pleaded..
Damien took a deep breath, his shoulders sagging slightly. “Fine. But I want to see them now!”
Officer Jameson nodded. “Alright, let’s do this. But please, Mr. Sterling, keep your emotions in check.”
As they entered the interrogation room, Damien’s eyes locked onto the suspects, his gaze piercing.
The two suspects, a scrawny man with a scruffy beard and the other, a petite young lady who was frightened by his mere presence..
“So, they are the ones?” Damien asked, his voice low and even.
Scott and Nancy’s eyes darted to Jameson, then back to Damien. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Scott stuttered..
Damien’s laughter was cold, mirthless. “Don’t play dumb. You know exactly what I’m talking about. My mum, You took her from me.”
Olivia’s hand on Damien’s shoulder tightened, a silent reminder to keep his cool.
He got the total idea of what she meant by doing that, and it helped because he was almost at the verge of hauling one of the chairs at them..
“Well let’s get started then”

Rihanna bit her bottom lips to stop her from screaming or puking..
Now she was sure of it, Anita’s ghost was surely out for her..
She took a glance back at her bathtub filled with a red liquid she assumed was blood, a small squeak left her lips..
Her feet moved out of the bathroom in a hurry, her eyes darted around the room in fright, she wasn’t safe anymore..
Tears flowed down freely from her eyes, all she could see was Anita’s last look directed to her before she closed her eyes two days ago..
“I didn’t kill you intentionally, please spare me” she whimpered silently with her hands placed together..
Her phone’s sudden ringtone startled her, she shakingly approached it hoping it wasn’t that unknown number calling her phone..
Fortunately for her it wasn’t, it was Nancy’s distant relative whom she had been in touch with lately..
She reached for it quickly wondering why the latter suddenly called, did anything go wrong? or was Nancy regretting her decision now?
“Hello? haven’t I told you not to call me anymore? our deal is off isn’t it?”
“Mr Sterling is at the station now, I know Nancy well, she’s easily frightened by little things and I’m afraid you have to get ready to go to jail for murder” The voice at the other end relayed which was enough to make Rihanna’s face go pale as sheet…
Jail? oh no, she shook her head in denial, she couldn’t go to jail..
“She can’t back at now-
Her brows furrowed on hearing the beeping sound of the call going off..
“Hello? hello! sh*t!”
She threw her phone back on the bed groaning out in anger, now only one thing was left for her to do..
Run away!
She had to leave the country as soon as possible otherwise, she would spend the rest of her life behind bars and she wasn’t ready for that..
Rihanna moved to her wardrobe taking out a trunk, she placed it on her bed and opened its lid…
Few minutes later, her trunk was filled with her clothes..
“I have to leave-
Her mind suddenly realized something, she couldn’t leave the country, Damien still had his leash on her..
This was part of her earlier punishment, she couldn’t leave the country as of now..
A frustrated grunt left her lips, how was she going to get out of this mess?
This was the first time she was totally on her own, there was no one to share her plight with..
“No.. no.. no!”

Nancy’s eyes dropped to her intertwined fingers, she tried as much as to avoid the gray orbs peering at her with intent..
“I did it, I shot her by myself” she confirmed again in a low tone..
Damien’s hands slammed on the long desk impatiently..
“Don’t lie to me! you didn’t!” he growled.
Olivia was quick to rush to his side, she touched his shoulder gently reminding him of the promise he had made with the officer..
“Damien”
Her eyes fell on Nancy who was whimpering in fear, she looked so Innocent to ever hurt or harm anyone..
“Mr Sterling.. please control your temper, we’ve interrogated her a couple of times and this is the same reply we’ve gotten out of her”
Damien jerked up to his feet moving his seat back harshly..
He knew she didn’t do it, her expressions showed it all..
It pained him so much that the real culprit was moving around freely whereas an innocent person was being held captive..
But at the same time why was she claiming to be the one? Murder was a serious crime..
Olivia walked past Damien to the officer who was standing aside..
“Can you do me a favor officer?”
The officer gave a nod, a gesture for her to continue with whatever she had to say..
“Can you lend me your pistol for a brief second?”
His eyes grew large at her request, he held his pistol securely with his hands by his side shaking his head..
“I’m sorry I can’t ma’am..” he blatantly refused.
Olivia leaned forward to him and whispered a few more words to him which made him fall into a deep thought..
Damien had no idea what they were whispering about but it better be something good that would stop him from hearing Nancy’s annoying whimpers..
A look of surprise was evident on his face as Olivia approached him handing a pistol over to him..
“Have it”This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Damien accepted the pistol from her and stared down at it for a while, she gave him a nod and immediately he slid the pistol on the table which stopped right in front of Nancy..
Her eyes grew large at the sight of it, she looked up to Damien who had a menacing look on his face..
“Pick it up and shoot” He ordered in a low and firm tone..
