Chapter 28 Is He From the Lawson Family?
"Come on, I am just a photographer! I am not being as highly logical as a detective. Instead, you are
being too innocent. But it means that your grandma raised you well! No wonder you miss her. She was
such a nice grandma…" his voice sounded soft and gentle. It really made her feel convincing.
Verena felt warm in her heart and smiled as her eyes seemed to be lit up, "You must have used to be a
detective or a psychologist!"
Eden smiled and he felt much better down his stomach. At this moment, the driver said, "Sir, lady, we
have arrived."
It was still raining and it seemed to be getting heavier. Raindrops kept streaming down the window like
a mini waterfall.
Verena shifted her gaze and soon took off her coat. Then she stopped Eden, who was about to get off,
"Take it! Lift it up to keep out the rain!"
Eden looked at her and smiled to refuse, "No, thanks!"
"Come on, take it! You are suffering from fever and stomachache! If you keep yourself in the rain still,
you will definitely feel worse!" before he could utter again, she tucked the coat in his hand, "Don't play
tough! Just take it!"
He was a bit amused and smiled, "I will be home quite soon! Just take it back!"
Without arguing, she suddenly pushed him off the taxi before he noticed. Then he squinted while
waving her hand, "Bye, Mr. Photographer!"
Eden smiled while looking at the coat in his hands.
As the taxi went far away, she murmured, "It seems that he is not from the Lawson Family!"
"Lady, where are we going now?" the driver said.
She collected herself and told him to go to the hospital where her father was kept.
From now on, she needed to work on the daytime. So she barely had time to visit her father. Now she
wanted to take the chance to see him.
Her father, Ford Moore, was now lying on the bed in a VIP Ward. A carer was washing his feet while
the other one was massaging him.
The room was filled with light fragrance of flowers instead of the smell of disinfectant.
When seeing that, she felt bitter but also lucky. She could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
That was her own choice. So she had to keep on!
After talking to her father on the bedside for quite a while, she then left. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
When she went back to the Lawson Mansion, it was 11:00 PM. After bathing, she lay on the bed with
her eyes closed. But she felt hungry.
"Alas…" she sighed and didn't get downstairs until quite a while later. Then she headed to the kitchen.
Luckily, the fridge was filled with all kinds of food—vegetable, chicken and fish.
As the cook of the Lawson Mansion had been offering western food only, she was worried if there were
only steaks in the fridge.
To be honest, she didn't like western dishes.
Verena tied up apron and then slice the beef perfectly.
"Stepmom, what are you doing?" a voice suddenly sounded from behind.
Verena couldn't help shivering because of the sudden voice. She almost cut her own finger.
She frowned and turned around. It was Cole who was standing behind while drinking a bottle of water.
He looked idle with his bathrobe opened. She could clearly see his tanned chest, slender legs and
even his white underwear.
What a frivolous freak!
Verena glared at his indecent look with disdain.
'Why don't you tie up your bathrobe! Stop playing dissolute!'
"What? Stepmom, are you being amazed by my perfect body? And you fall in love with me?" Cole said
dissipatedly.
When hearing that, she mocked, "Do you deem yourself Tom Cruise? Or Leonardo DiCaprio? Or a
Prince Charming? Or a million bucks? Do you think everyone in the world will have a crush on you just
with a simple glimpse at you? Are you still daydreaming?"
"Don't you think I am much more attractive than Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio and a million bucks?
You need a pair of new eyes!"
"Don't you feel shame of yourself?" her face even started to twitch.
Besides Clare, Cole was the most narcissistic one she had ever seen. However, he was even much
more narcissistic than Clare.
Cole raised his brows and said arrogantly, "Never! Actually, I feel quite proud of myself!"
While they were still arguing, footsteps sounded. Then Lemuel entered the parlor.
"Lemuel, why are you back so late?" Cole reached out of the kitchen and looked at Lemuel, who was
untying his tie.
"I was having an annual conference in the company." He threw the tie aside casually and rubbed
against his own forehead, "I saw Dr. Channing's car outside. What happened?"
"The old man gets sick again. Dr. Channing is checking him." While speaking, Cole was drinking water.
Lemuel's handsome face still remained emotionless. However, he couldn't help asking when seeing the
indecent look of Cole, "What are you doing in the kitchen?"
"I am seeing something new! Aren't you curious about it, Lemuel?" Cole blinked his eyes, looking
mysterious.
"I never feel interested in those you are curious about." While speaking, Lemuel took off his suit jacket
and stood up to walk to the kitchen.
"Come on, you just said you showed no interest! Why are you approaching?"
Lemuel ignored him and kept walking forward. Then he unbuttoned his shirt, "Do we still have steaks?"
"You haven't eaten dinner, right? The chef really cooked nice steak tonight!" Cole said while glancing at
Verena.
Lemuel looked at Cole, who looked a bit unusual. Then he stepped into the kitchen and saw Verena
standing in front of the fridge. When hearing that talk between them, she was a bit nervous. However,
when Lemuel approached to her side, she felt like being suffocated.
Lemuel shifted his cold gaze off Verena. Then he looked at Cole warningly, "Are you free now?"
"Come on, I was shooting films with an idiot today! She got me so pissed! Shit, she is simply good at
nothing!" as soon as Cole thought of Clare, he couldn't help getting so mad! Her awkward acting skills
really annoyed him.
"Where is the steak?" seeing the empty fridge, Lemuel squinted at Cole.
