Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money

Chapter 22

Chapter 22

A slight nod from Cynthia was all the confirmation Jimmy needed. He could not help but feel astonished. While Joshua might be able to uncover information hidden by others, anything hidden by Cynthia would be practically impossible to find.

The two of them continued their hushed conversation for a little while before Cynthia’s phone suddenly vibrated. Seeing that it was a call from Mitchell, she asked Jimmy to watch over Shirley while she stepped out of the room to take the call.

However, just as she opened the door to leave the room, she spotted several figures around the corner, and right in the center was Joshua, who had come to Nexuria with her earlier. She quickly retreated and closed the door to the hospital room.

“What’s wrong?” asked Jimmy, utterly bewildered.

Without giving him an explanation, Cynthia walked toward the balcony of the room with her phone.

Meanwhile, Joshua, who had caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in the hallway, stopped in front of Shirley’s hospital room. The person from the Neal Group’s Nexuria branch asked, Mr. Neal, is everything alright?”

They were all confused! They were supposed to go to the company, but instead, they were at the hospital!

“Who is staying in this room?” Joshua asked indifferently, his lips barely moving.

The person in charge quickly responded, “It appears to be the daughter of Yates Group, Shirley Yates.”

“Knock on the door,” Joshua ordered, his voice deep and steady.

The Neal Group branch manager hesitated. “Aren’t we supposed to visit the CEO of the Tanz Group?”

“We also have a partnership with the Yates Group, and it’s appropriate for us to visit their daughter while she’s in the hospital. Knock on the door,” Joshua replied seriously, his magnetic voice commanding.

Obediently, the branch manager knocked.

While he suspected that there was more to the situation than met the eye, he could not help but follow orders. He was sure that something was off; the CEO never bothered with such trivial matters and would have delegated the task to them instead of handling it personally.

Inside the ward, Jimmy saw a suited figure through the door’s observation window and instinctively glanced toward the balcony where Cynthia was standing. “Cynthia, it looks like it’s someone from the Neal Group.”

“You handle it. Don’t let them in,” Cynthia said, not wanting to see Joshua.

Seeing Joshua here might make him think she had ulterior motives for marrying him or was trying to steal trade secrets. She had no intention of discussing these matters or arguing with him in Shirley’s ward.

Jimmy stood up and opened the door, his youthful appearance accentuated by his tousled hair.

“Who are you?” he asked.

“I’m the manager of Neal Group’s Nexuria branch,” the person in charge introduced himself before gesturing to Joshua. “And this is our CEO, Mr. Neal. We heard that Ms. Yates is in the hospital and came to pay her a visit.”

“Thank you,” Jimmy replied casually.

The manager was taken aback by his response. Were they not going to invite them in to sit?

Joshua’s gaze shifted past Jimmy and into the room, his presence commanding. Jimmy studied him for a moment and realized that Joshua looked even more attractive in person than in photos. No wonder Cynthia had fallen for him.

“Is Cynthia here?” Joshua asked, his dark eyes carrying an unnerving intensity as he posed a potentially loaded question.

Jimmy, caught off guard, stammered, “Huh?”

“This is a gift for Ms. Yates.” Joshua said, shifting his gaze away and taking a gift prepared for the CEO of Tanz Group from the director’s hands, “We wish her a speedy recovery.”

“Thank you,” Jimmy said, accepting the gift.

Afterward, Joshua left with his entourage. The branch manager looked bewildered, staring at his empty hands, his mind racing. What would they give to Mr. Tanz now that the gift prepared for him had been given to Ms. Yates?

Jimmy could not understand the purpose of their visit. He placed the gift on the table next to Shirley’s bed, still pondering the recent events.

“I didn’t expect you to handle that so well,” Cynthia complimented him from a spot hidden from the observation window.

“What?” Jimmy asked, confused.

“Joshua was trying to trick you just now. No matter what you said about me being there or not, it would have revealed that you know me.” Cynthia explained, having been worried he might slip up, “I was afraid you’d say something.”

Upon hearing this, Jimmy looked a bit sheepish. He scratched his head, grinned, and admitted, “Actually, I was just thinking about how much better looking he is than in the pictures. I didn’t really hear what he was saying.‘

Cynthia was speechless.

“By the time I realized what he’d asked, he had already handed me the gift and left,” Jimmy added, his eyes shifting.

Cynthia rolled her eyes.

Was it all just a coincidence?

“Cynthia, did you marry him because of his looks?” Jimmy finally found an opportunity to gossip.

Cynthia pursed her lips in agreement. “You could say that.”

Joshua had always been her type. Even now, after their divorce and now him being a scumbag, she had to admit that he was handsome. To this day, she had not seen anyone better looking

in the entertainment or fashion industry.

As for the man they were discussing, he was currently in a room two doors down, talking to

someone.

The branch manager and others waited outside the room while Joshua sat in a chair next to the bed of a handsome, defiant–looking man.

“How come I never noticed before that you have such a soft spot for women?” Mr. Tanz teased, watching the drama unfold, “You even gave away the gift meant for me.”

Joshua replied, “I’ll have someone bring you ten more gifts later.”

“Yeah, right. Just tell me why you suddenly came to the hospital to see me. I don’t believe you’re that kind–hearted,” Mr. Tanz retorted without hesitation.

“Help me find out if Shirley Yates has an older sister. Around twenty–four years old,” Joshua said, never hiding anything from him.

“You are looking for a new partner right after your divorce?” Mr. Tanz raised an eyebrow, clearly joking.

Joshua calmly responded, “Neal Group will be laying off employees soon. It would be a shame

if

your childhood friend were to be let go by accident.” Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“You wouldn’t dare,” Mr. Tanz challenged.

“Try me.” Joshua countered.

“I haven’t heard of her having a sister.” Mr. Tanz reluctantly shared the information, cursing Joshua under his breath, “But everyone in Yates Group calls her Little Miss.”

‘Little Miss?‘ Joshua’s brow furrowed.

“What do you want this information for?” Mr. Tanz asked, puzzled.

“Nothing,” Joshua replied, standing up. He patted Mr. Tanz’s bandaged shoulder twice, saying, “Take care of yourself, and when you’re better, treat me to a meal.”

Mr. Tanz winced in pain, quickly warning Joshua as he reached the door, “If you dare make my future daughter–in–law lose her job, I won’t let you off easy!”
