Proof
Dexter
I don’t know why I had the urge to protect her but even though she had committed the worst of crimes, I still wanted to make sure no one hurt her.
She burst into laughter-a laughter of disbelief. It was annoying that my body still wanted her even after knowing her past. She said that she was framed and they had a video of us, but it was so hard for me to believe that my friends could do such a horrible thing to me.
There was only one way to find out about it and seeing how affected she was even though she tried to hide it, I knew that I’d have to get to the bottom of the story.
“Stop protecting me, Dexter. I don’t need it.” She flared up, “If you think my stepfather is still after me then don’t bother, he hasn’t called since that day.” She blurted, flailing her arms in the air.
I cracked a smile and folded my arms. “I know that he has been trailing you for a while but he stopped. And the call, I also know about it.”
Her eyes widened in surprise but she didn’t say anything. “Why didn’t you say anything?” She asked softly.
I shrugged, “Because you didn’t trust me well enough to tell me all about it, but I was too uncomfortable to do nothing. He tried to hurt you again but I sent him a warning at least to scare him. No one touches what’s mine,”
She rolled her eyes and let off a tired sigh, and then I noticed the bags forming under her eyes. “I’m not yours, but thank you for helping out. Good night.”
I watched her walk away, with the need to chase after her but what we both needed was distance, that could only be achieved if we stayed away from each other for a while.

I floored the gas as soon as I got to Liam’s apartment and adjusted my seat so that I could properly articulate myself before going in.
We hadn’t seen each other facially ever since the confrontation I had with Blake, but today, I planned to kill a bird with two stones.
Liam told me that Blake was around as I expected. Those two were quite closer to each other than I was with them. They were more like partners in crime and sometimes people mistook them for brothers.
I pressed the doorbell and waited. The door pushed open with Liam standing behind it. “Finally, you’re here. I thought it would take a long time to visit us.” He shook my hands and ushered me into their living room where Blake was focused on his game.
“Blake man.” I hailed him and he got up with a smirk, then gave me a manly hug.
Ever since Lorraine told me her side of the story, I began to see them in a different light. Though I refused to acknowledge it, I was actually imagining them trying to coax her into sleeping with them so they wouldn’t leak the video.
It wouldn’t affect me much because I was a man but her, it would do a great deal of damage to her budding career. If there was a video, I had to get hold of it before they thought of doing something funny with it.
“How have you been, man? It’s been ages since you came here.” Liam chuckled and disappeared into an adjoining room; the kitchen perhaps.
“I’m so sorry about that, but I didn’t forget you. The last show got me all caged up and I had to make sure it was a success.” I said.
Blake snorted and paused the game. “You aren’t CEO of Hemming corporations for a reason, you can employ people who would make your work easier for you.”
“Dexter is a workaholic, he wouldn’t listen.” Liam added as he came out holding three glasses and a bottle of Macallan M whiskey bottle.
It used to be my favorite when I was still an avid drinker, but now I wasn’t and there were two things that got my attention: Lorraine and my chain of businesses.
Blake sat up as Liam poured out the drink for all of us. “Congratulations, Dexter, the show was a success even though the bitch-sorry-Lorraine decided to make a fool of herself.”
I was glad he quickly stopped himself from calling Lorraine a bitch or I’d have beat him up again. A small part of my heart kept telling me that there would be a good reason for sleeping with them, if it happened.
“Someone set her up. One of the models didn’t like her so I had to step in to save face. I’m glad it all turned out well, though.” I replied casually so that they wouldn’t think I was defending her.Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
“Set her up? That lady has always been clumsy all her life, that’s why she’s always making silly mistakes.” Liam grunted, while I flashed a cursory glance at him.
He shifted on the chair, biting his lips like he had said something wrong. I was going to feed on this. “It’s really annoying you know, if she keeps acting this way I’ll have to fire her.”
Blake decided to butt in at this point, seeing how I was belittling her. “Of course you should. Lorraine isn’t to be trusted,”
“Is she?” They both stared at me, anxiety masking their faked calm expression. “I mean she slept with the both of you for whatever reason and then she decided to come into my life once again.”
Blake got up his feet, whirling the glass cup while propping his other arm against his waist. “Now you’re getting it, Dexter. Look, I can show you the video once again if you didn’t believe us at first.” He proposed.
Liam made a whistling sound but Blake asked him to calm down. “Let me get my phone.” He scurried around while I waited quietly with tension eating me up.
This time, I’d thoroughly scrutinised the video and made sure I tightened every loose end. He came back almost immediately and showed me the first video.
I quickly shared it to my file and cleared off the link that showed what I did, then focused on the video which got my blood rising.
Lorraine made mention of our sex video they had but I wasn’t seeing it here. So I focused on the one that Liam gave to me, my body taut with anger as I watched Lorraine tossing off her bag onto the bed.
I zoomed in so that I could see every little detail that I ignored the first time, then I realised that her eyes were squinted and she was staggering all through.
She threw her fists at him as if she was trying to fight him but the man in the video overpowered her and pushed her onto the bed.
It took all the self will I had not to smash the phone on the ground. Lorraine had been telling the truth and I didn’t believe her. She was probably drugged and my friends here thought it best to get a video of her.
I got to my feet, having gotten the information I wanted. Then I returned his phone, clenching my fist. “I’ll see you both soon.”
