Marrying my high school bully

Being possessive

Lorraine

“We meet again.” His eerie voice resonated from the car, followed by his grim smile that made my skin crawl.

I dropped my hand and staggered backwards, my lips widely parted. I thought I was already drooling.

“What are you doing here, Liam?” I asked, my voice shaky with fear.

This man was dangerous. He tried to take advantage of me together with Blake. I quickly took a peek into the car and released a sigh, relieved that Blake wasn’t in the car with him.

He donned a pair of black shades even though it was no longer sunny and stepped out of the car, heading towards me. I put a small distance between us and held tightly to my bag.

Oh my shoes. It wouldn’t allow me to run if I had to.

“You don’t look so happy to see me, Lorraine, why is it so?” He flashed his ugly set of teeth that was dented probably by the cigarettes he took or whatever thing he smoked.

I clenched my fist and counted slowly to ten. It helped as I was able to mask my fear and put on a placid smile. The fear had subsided, but the gnawing urge to get away from him didn’t vanish.

It remained in my mind, reminding me that I should leave as soon as possible. “You don’t expect me to throw a party because you are here, do you?”

His brows furrowed as he didn’t expect my sassy response. My confidence was growing and I was going to thrive on it.

“I guess being around people has made you a little bit bolder and honestly, I don’t like it.” He frowned.

“That’s none of your business, Liam, besides, why are you here?” I snarled.

He folded his arms and sat on the bonnet with a cocky expression. That part of him had never changed. “I came to see Dexter, but then I saw you. And now it seems like you don’t only work in his agency as a model, but you double as his…” He eyed me from head to toe, then said, “House help.”

My heart which had skipped a beat because I thought he would say something worse relaxed.

“I didn’t know that you needed money so badly.”

“I’ll take my leave now.” I said in a rush. “You should have called Dexter before coming. I’m sure you know he’s a busy man.”

An annoying chuckle burst out from his lips as he jumped down and advanced towards me. “Of course I will, but I won’t deny that I liked the surprise I got here. You are much more beautiful than before, don’t you think we can have some time together somewhere. Let’s say, be my woman? I promise to take very good care of you.” He suggested, his tone blaring with deceit. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

I scrunched my face in disgust as I stepped away from him. There was no way I’d ever have anything to do with him. If it was possible, I’ll banish him to the loneliest part of the world so he wouldn’t have to bother me again.

“In your dreams, Liam.” I refused harshly and began walking away from him.

He said nothing else and jumped into his car then drove off. Relief washed over me as I stopped walking and waited by the gate after he left, waiting for Bumpy. It was almost six and he wasn’t here yet.

I didn’t want Dexter to meet us here so I tried calling his phone which wasn’t reachable. Seconds later, Dexter’s car veered towards the house, inciting a disappointed hiss from me.

The car door flung open as he stalked towards him, his eyes blazing with anger. “What in God’s name is going on between you and Arnold?” He seethed while I threw a questioning glance at him.

“Who’s Arnold?”

The pinched his forehead, stomping his foot on the ground. “You don’t even know the name of the man you’ve been frolicking with. How amusing!” He exclaimed.

I ignored his accusation as realisation set in immediately. “Bumpy? Arnold is Bumpy?”

“He’s Bumpy or whatever you call him.” He flared then stopped to scrutinise my dress. “Where are you headed? This is not a casual outfit and you don’t look dressed to go for an outing with the girls so tell me all about it.”

I shook my head and rolled my eyes. “You don’t own me, Dexter, whatever I do with my life is none of your business.” I spat.

He licked his alluring lips, propping his arms against his waist then strolled towards me. “I own you, Lorraine, from the moment you signed that contract you became mine and I won’t allow anyone else be with you.” His voice possessive and demanding.

I liked how jealous he was, but I wished he would acknowledge his feelings for me. “Just two years, Dexter, and this sham will be over. You say I’m yours but I don’t even feel like it.” I paused, remembering the reason he stopped at the gate in the first place. “What did Arnold do?”

“The lingerie modeling deal, are you going to take it?” He asked in a way that showed he didn’t want me to take it.

I responded without hesitation. “Yes I will. It’s going to help me a lot and you know that. I’m just starting and it’s pleasing to know that someone other than your company wants to hire me for his brand.”

“It’s fine.” He raised his hands in surrender, “The fact that we are going through a phase doesn’t mean I should stand in your way of succeeding. I just hope you don’t forget the reason you’re doing the job.”

“What does that mean?” My forehead was creased as I wondered why he would make such a statement.

He didn’t get the chance to explain as a car stopped right before Dexter’s. My palms became clammy with sweat as Bumpy came out of the car and headed towards us.

“Hi, Dexter.” He waved at Dexter then turned to me. “I’m sorry for being late and I also returned your call but obviously you didn’t notice.”

I averted my gaze from him to Dexter whose scowl was deep enough to scare off a serial killer. This wasn’t the scenario I wanted and that was why I asked him to pick me up by six.

“What is he doing here, Lorraine?” He asked in a surprisingly calm voice and then I knew that I’d stirred up serious trouble.
