Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 190
Laura poked that blockhead. “You’re at this age yet haven’t given me a grandson, let alone a girlfriend. What’s the use in talking to an idiot like you?”
Steve said, “How’s this related to me?”
Laura said, “Because you asked me that stu pid question.”
Steve felt very wronged and said, “I want to know why you worry about Mr. Hills. Tell me immediately if you know something, so I can prepare.”
“You can’t help here. He must overcome this himself.” Laura gave Steve an exasperated look. “Adam is in love. He cares for Lumma.”
Steve said, “Why’s it dangerous for him to care for Lumma? Lumma’s his wife and means him no harm. It’s normal for him to care for her.”
Laura wanted to poke that blockhead again. “He cares so deeply for Lumma that he loses control. That’s not normal. Think of tonight. When he learned Lumma was kidnapped, his eyes were terrifying. For someone in his position, isn’t weakness frightening?”
Steve didn’t think much of it. “Don’t worry. Tonight was accidental. Mr. Hills will never allow this
again.”
Laura yelled, “You said ‘accidental.’ Can you guarantee no more accidents?”
Steve asked, “What do you mean exactly?”
Laura said, “I worry for Adam, worry he’ll be manipulated and lose senses. He can treat Lumma well and give her the world, but he can’t lose senses or ignore his own safety for Lumma.”
Steve said, “With me here, who can get close to him?” Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Laura went speechless.
Her words were wasted. She shouldn’t have expected this brawny but simple creature to grasp her
meaning.
In the ward, Lumma, unconscious from medication, suddenly twitched. Her mouth mumbled,
“Lucas…”
“I’m here. Always have been.” Adam held her hand tightly in one, gently brushing damp bangs behind her ear with the other. “Lumma, Lucas is here. Don’t be afraid.”
She opened her mouth, spitting out numbers. “2020321…”
“I know you want to tell me about the girl who jumped. I’ve had people gather evidence. John will be brought to justice.” If not for Lumma giving him these numbers tonight, allowing him to find her promptly, consequences would have been unimaginable had he been minutes later.
Her quick thinking saved her.
Perhaps hearing Adam, Lumma’s furrowed brow slowly relaxed. She slept far more peacefully.
She slept until 10 a.m. before waking slowly.
She felt someone had stayed beside her, never leaving.
That person gave her water, held her hand, and said he’d protect her well.
Opening her eyes to see Adam by the bed, Lumma couldn’t hide her disappointment. “Mr. Hills, why you again?”
