Chapter 4
Chapter 4
The ten-minute journey back to the villa took her twenty minutes. There was no heating in the villa, and
the big room was deadly cold.
She kicked off her high-heeled shoes and staggered into the bathroom as if she was drunk. She turned
on the hot water in the bathtub, and then fell into the bathtub like a dead person. Her whole boday was
silently lying in the bathtub as hot water gradually was falling down and her red dress covered the
entire bathtub, like blood spreading, making Abby's face as pale as paper.
She closed her eyes, and her face sank into the water. The water gradually overflowed her head and
sealed all her senses. A short asphyxiation paralyzed her heart. After a while, she could not help but
open her mouth, making water entered her mouth, and a sense of nausea came out of her stomach.
Abby opened her red eyes and poked her head out of the water. She was leaning against the
bathtub, while her stomach seemed to be grasped by a hand. She opened her mouth numbly, but had
nothing to vomit but some yellow acid liquid from her empty stomach when her upper body twitched
uncontrollably. Her throat was sore and her tears could not stop falling down.
Abby rubbed her sour eyes and looked at the blood in the mucus on the ground. The corners of her
mouth pulled up slightly, showing a plastic smile on her face where her eyes were full of despair and
desolation.
She took off her red dress and wiped the bloodstain on the ground. She couldn't let Jason see the
blood.
It was getting dark outside. Abby went back to her bedroom barefoot and fell into bed. She couldn't
sleep. Before when she didn't know she got sick, she could still dream about the future. Now, no matter
how hard she tried, it would be in vain.
Four years had witnessed how she lost herself, from full of love to hopelessness.
On this day, she seemed to have shed all her tears in her life. Abby put her hand on her heart and
sneered bitterly: It was the stomach that was ill. Why did my heart hurt so much?
The mobile phone in the bag suddenly vibrated. Abby reflexively stood up, opened the bag as quickly
as possible, and catched the mobile phone. When she saw the incoming message on the screen, she
seemed to have taken off all her strength.
Not him… Abby, what were you expecting?
Abby stared at her mobile phone for two seconds and then answered the phone.
"Mog Quain." Abby's voice was very hoarse. It was like the blade of a knife rubbing the grindstone.
Mog Quain was her childhood friend growing up with her. They were not relatives, but they were more
than relatives. When she was a child, she lived in the Quain family for a long time. For Abby, Mog was RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
her brother.
On the phone, Mog asked worriedly: "Abby, why is your voice so dumb? Are you sick?"
"I have a cold. I just wake up and my voice was a little hoarse…"
Before Abby finished, Mog on the phone interrupted her, "Abby, do you want to lie to me? Have you
forgotten that I'm a doctor? I can still distinguish between the sound when you wake up and the sound
after crying."
Her throat tightened and she couldn't say a word of explanation, and finally laughed bitterly.
Mog asked, "can you tell me why you cry?"
Abby held her mobile phone and stared at the wooden floor. No one liked to show their weakest part.
She shook her head and refused, "no."
Mog was stunned. He knew Abby's character a lot. She was so stubborn that no one could let her tell
what she thought when she was not willing to speak.
Mog could only change the topic: "What was the result of the medical report ?"
Abby pursed her lips: "pretty good."
Mog said: "if you don't want to say it, I'll go to the hospital myself, and I'm still qualified to see your
physical examination report."
Mog had a surgical director position in that hospital, so it was very easy for him to find out.
That was so bad…
"Do you tell me or let me check? You can choose." He was still forcing her.
The mobile phone became so quiet that she could hear the breathing inside. Abby was defeated:
"cancer, advanced gastric cancer."
Mog was silent for a while
Abby could hear that on the other end of the line he seemed to bear something, the messy breathing
sound continued to reach her ears through the call.
"How can… You are still so young…" Mog murmured to himself, his voice gradually became chocked.
Through the mobile phone, Abby could feel his sadness. He was sad for her, and she was satisfied that
someone cared about her before she died.
"You come to the hospital and I will check you up again."
Abby refused: "No matter how many times I check, the result is the same, Mog, I know my own body,
maybe this is retribution…"
"Nonsense! Abby, you listen to me and stay in hospital. You will be able to recover…" Mog's voice was
almost crying. He was the doctor speciliased in this field. He knew how serious the disease was and
how painful it was.
How could Abby make her body like this?
Mog didn't know how to persuade Abby. Sometimes her life was depent on fate instead of her
willingness. She didn't have enough time left. The hospital suggested she should stay in the hospital for
a few more years, or give up treatment. In short… she would die.
"Abby, divorce Jason. You can see what he's done to you in the pastfour years together."
Divorce… Abby never wanted to divorce Jason. For her, he was everything to her. He was the light that
she wanted to catch all her life. But how could the light be caught?
Abby clenched her cell phone hard, making her knuckles white: "I'll think about it."
Divorcing Jason was like cutting a piece of meat from her chest. It was not easy!
Mog told her to go to the hospital again the next day. Abby agreed, but she didn't really keep it in her
mind.
Apart from Jason's wife, she was also the president in charge of Sunny company. There were always
all kinds of things pressing on her.
Human endurance was like a camel, which could bear a lot under high pressure, but there is often the
last straw that could break camel's back .
When the call was over, Abby threw her mobile phone on the bedside table. Her stomach was aching
all the time. It would be difficult to fall asleep tonight. She opened the drawer and took out two bottles of
medicine, one for pain relief and the other for sleeping. She took two pills each and fell on the bed.
She didn't know if the effect of the medicine was working, her brain started to be a little muddy, and she
felt something pressing on her, her chest was heavily pressed and she was unable to breathe. After
struggling to wake up, she suddenly felt shocked, as it was Jason who was pressing against her.
