Love's Redemption

Redmption 93

Redmption 93

It felt like a long time since I had last rode a bicycle.

“Bicycle.” I pointed to the side.

You could now rent a bicycle by just scanning a QR code with your phone. Conrad went to scan one, and I was about to do the same when he stopped me.

“You’ve been drinking so you can’t ride one.”

“Do they even check for drunk cycling?” I asked, tilting my head.

“Yes, they do, and-” Conrad pulled my arm. Unlike Chris‘ painful squeezes, Conrad’s touch was gentle. “You drank, so it’s dangerous.”

Conrad was the perfect gentleman.

I smiled. “Aren’t you here?”

“If you want to ride, we can do it another day together, but not today. I’ll take you on mine,” Conrad said as he led me to the bicycle he had scanned.

He sat on it and helped me onto the back seat. “Hold on tight, Maddie. We don’t want you falling.”

I clung to his shirt. “Okay.”

The night breeze brushed against us. The impression Conrad left on me was that of a youth who cycled. Chris, on the other hand, never rode a bicycle. He only rode a motorcycle.

They were biological brothers, but their personalities were entirely different- one a gentleman, and the other wild and untamed.

“In a bad mood today?” Conrad asked.

“No, I’m fine.” I stubbornly denied it.

“Still can’t get over Chris, can you?” he asked again.

I huffed and punched him lightly. “That’s not true. I got over him long ago. After today, we won’t have anything to do with each other. He is him, and I am me.”

Conrad stopped talking and continued cycling. I thought of something and said, “Take me to the hotel. I still have work tomorrow.”

“Maddie.” Conrad suddenly called out my name.

I was about to respond when I heard him ask. “Why do you only have eyes for Chris? Why is he the only one you see between us?”

I clung harder to his shirt, my heart skipping a beat. I wasn’t completely clueless. I had sensed he had feelings for me long ago. I just didn’t want to admit it.

It looked like he never really just saw me as a sister.

“That’s because he’s my fiance. That’s what everyone told me,” I replied.

“Now that you’ve broken up with him, do L.” Conrad paused.

“Do I have a chance?”

My heart started racing, and it took me a while to respond. “You’re my brother.”

Conrad said nothing more and Continued riding until we reached the hotel. I got off, but the alcohol hit me hard and I nearly fell.

Conrad grabbed me and, with a push of his foot, parked the bike. “I’ll take your upstairs.”

“It’s okay.” I tried to pull my hand away.

Conrad didn’t let go. He tightened his grip on me instead. “Maddie, I don’t want to be your brother. I want to take care of you for the rest of my life.”

I stood there, feeling a lump in my throat.

“I would have taken this to the grave if you stayed with Chris. But since the two of you broke up, I’m fighting for a chance, Conrad said earnestly. From NôvelDrama.Org.

His words weighed heavily on me in the quiet of the night, making it hard for me to breathe. I almost couldn’t speak.

I pinched my palm hard and slowly raised my head. “I only see you as a brother, always have and always will.”

Disappointment clouded his eyes. He spoke in a pained voice. “Can you not see me as a brother from now on?”

“Ms. Crown, why are you up so late? Don’t you have work tomorrow?” Brandon walked over at that moment.

Under the night sky, Brandon wore dark gray loungewear and hotel slippers, but he took steady steps.

While I was lost in thought, I felt a tight grip on my wrist. Brandon had already taken hold of me, and Conrad tightened his grip on my hand too.
