Redmption 13
Redmption 13
But the amusement park project was almost finished. I didn’t want to leave at
this critical time.
Around noon, while I was organizing my work, Kara scurried over and mysteriously asked, “Maddie, did you get your period last night?”
I glanced at her. “Am I not allowed to?”
“That’s not what I’m saying.” Kara shook her head like a rattle. “I was wondering why Mr. Gildon’s mood is so foul today. It seems like he’s frustrated.”
I paused before realizing what she meant.
Then, I tapped her on the head with my pen. “It’s work hours. Focus on your work, and stop daydreaming.”
Kara giggled and handed me the report we had reviewed together yesterday. It’s not just my imagination. Everyone’s scared of Mr. Gildon today. No one has come out of his office smiling.”
I suddenly recalled this morning when Chris had angrily thrown away the roses. I wondered if his bad mood today was because I didn’t get easily pacified like usual or because I had suggested breaking up.
“Maddie, did you have a fight with Mr. Gildon?” Kara gossiped.
I snapped back to reality. “Get back to work, or you’ll be the next one crying.”
After sending Kara away, I sat there for a while before continuing with my tasks. I reviewed and edited Kara’s report and sent it to Chris.
He didn’t reply, and I didn’t ask him to. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
At three in the afternoon, I was on my way to the break room to get some water when I ran into Chris. His expression was indeed as stormy as Kara had described, and it darkened even more when he saw me.
Still, I greeted him. “Mr. Gildon, please review the report I sent. If it’s fine, I’ll go ahead and update our partners.”
But he ignored me and walked away.
I didn’t think much of it. After I returned to my office, my phone rang–it was a
call from an unfamiliar number.
Hello?”
‘Madeline, it’s me.” Jewel’s voice came through the line.
I wondered what she wanted. Before I had a chance to ask, she said, “I’m at the
cafe downstairs from your office. Can we meet?”
Didn’t we meet last night?
I’m at work right now. If you have something to say, just say it over the phone.” I refused her request.
“In that case, I’ll wait until you finish work.”
I had underestimated this woman’s persistence. Knowing it was a tactic to force a meeting, I didn’t give in.
“Fine. Keep waiting, then.”
True to my word, I continued with my tasks. After work, once everyone had left, I went to the cafe. I was surprised to find Jewel still there.
As I approached, I heard familiar footsteps behind me and saw Chris stride past me toward Jewel.
“Chris!” Jewel looked both excited and flustered upon seeing him.
“What are you doing here?” Chris‘ face was still sour.
Since I had already walked over, I couldn’t just turn and leave. “She’s here to
see me.”
Chris‘ expression grew colder.
Seeing this, Jewel quickly explained, “Chris, don’t misunderstand. I’m here to explain what happened yesterday to Madeline. I don’t want any misunderstandings between you two because of me.”
I smirked at that.
Jewel sure was a cunning one. Yesterday, she deliberately ruined my date with Chris, and today she’s playing the good Samaritan.
Surprisingly, Chris scolded Jewel, “You don’t need to worry about my business with her. If you really don’t want any issues between us, stay home and don’t run around causing trouble.”
