Chapter 354
"Having him is enough?"
She had some nerve to even think of wanting him.
Looking at her pitiful expression, my voice turned colder as I said, "Jewel, you're mistaken. It's not Chris you want. What you're after is his status and the wealth that comes with him."
Jewel nibbled at her lip.
"I won't deny that, but-"
She paused and then delivered a devastating speech.
"But after these days, he's been as good to me as lan ever was. I've genuinely fallen for him. I want to spend the rest of my life with him."
She was telling me that she was fixated on Chris and that he had genuinely cared for her. She was still seeing me as a rival, yet here she was, begging me.
And when she pleaded, she didn't forget to drive a dagger into my heart. It was as if she thought that I was an easy prey.
I smirked. "Chris cared for you, but he still left."Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
Jewel's expression stiffened upon hearing my words.
"Are you sure he wants to spend his life with you?" I asked in a mocking tone.
"As long as he comes back, I'll find a way," Jewel replied, her voice faltering.
I nodded slightly. "Then, find a way to bring him back. I won't help you."
Jewel had been kneeling for a while, and she was barely holding up. Hearing my refusal, her body wavered, and she gripped the car door tighter. "Why? Is it because you still love him?"
It was pathetic for a woman to blame another woman for a man's lack of affection.
I wasn't interested in continuing the conversation.
"If that's what you believe, then sure."
I scoffed.
Jewel froze, her mouth moving, but no words came out.
"Ms. Massey, staying on your knees isn't good for the baby. You should get up. I'm leaving," I said as I glanced at the clock on my dashboard.
The conversation had already wasted ten minutes of my time.
"Madeline, if you don't call Chris, I'm staying put right here," Jewel said.
Once again, she surprised me with her stubbornness.
It was said that even the bravest man feared a woman's persistence. Suddenly, I wondered if Chris' escape wasn't because of his fight with Zack. Maybe he couldn't handle Jewel's relentless pursuit so he left.
"Then, you can stay down there."
I revved the engine twice.
Jewel trembled in fear. Despite that, she still clung to the car door.
It seemed that she was ready for a standoff, certain that I wouldn't drive off or run her over. Seeing her like that made me furious.
"Jewel, if you're not going to move
then you're just asking for trouble
Do think if I ran you over today,
the Gildon family would dare to send me to jail?"
Jewel widened her eyes and stared at me in disbelief.
"Jewel, if you were gone, it would actually be a relief for the Gildon family. You know that, right?" I reminded her with a cold smile.
Upon hearing my words, Jewel shifted to the side and sat down on the ground.
She knew better than to push her luck-the Gildon family would undoubtedly side with me over her.
At the sight of her on the ground, I grabbed my phone that I tossed on the passenger seat earlier.
"Jewel, didn't you want Chris back? I'll call him for you now, and you can listen for yourself."
I wasn't calling out of sympathy or to help her; I wanted to crush any hope she had left.
Within three seconds, the call went through and Chris' voice sounded from the speaker. "Maddie," Chris said.
"Chris, Jewel caused a scene at your home and now she's blocking my

road. She wants I bluntly.
"Where is she now?"
Chris' flat voice was betraying no emotion.
After living with him for ten years, I knew that was his angry tone.
Hearing Chris' voice, Jewel sprang up from the ground and snatched my phone.
"Chris, come back to me. If you don't, the Goodwin family is going to get rid of this baby."
