Love's New Bloom

Chapter 185

Chapter 185 You’ve Never Known Love

Three days later, at 7 pm inside a suburban detention center, Chandler finally saw Tessa, who was being held in custody.

Besides Chandler, Osborn was also in the interrogation room.

Tessa was confined in a trial cell behind iron bars, sitting on a metal chair with handcuffs and ankle shackles. She kept her head lowered. and her hair hung loose. She wore an orange prison uniform over her shirt.

On the second day of being held there. Tessa confessed to all the crimes she’d committed. She even revealed the location where the corpses of her assailants back then had been disposed of. However, those bodies were unlikely to be retrieved because they were all cut up and dumped in the mountains. Wild animals would have devoured those dismembered remains by then.

Her willingness to cooperate and confess astonished Osborn. She also confessed how she and Jack meticulously planned Erin’s kidnapping with the clear objective of obtaining her unborn child. However, Tessa deliberately didn’t disclose the location where Erin was

held captive.

If it weren’t for the prohibition against torture, Osborn would probably have been willing to resort to any means to pry the information from

her. But Tessa stated that even if she was tortured to death, she wouldn’t reveal where Erin was.

On the previous day, after yet another round of interrogation, Tessa suddenly requested to see Chandler, claiming she might disclose

Erin’s whereabouts.

Hence, Osborn immediately summoned Chandler to the detention center. In fact, even if Osborn hadn’t called him, he would have come on

his own anyway.

Now, facing Tessa’s feigned ignorance, Osborn wore a stern expression and loudly demanded, “Until when will you resist, Tessa

Summers? Tell us where Erin is right now!”

Chandler’s eyes were filled with a chilling coldness as he stared at Tessa. He requested, “Osborn, please leave first and let me be alone

with Tessa for a while.”

Osborn gave Chandler a glance, nodded, and then left the room. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

Once he left, Chandler spoke again, “Now you can talk.”

“What should I say?” Tessa looked up and asked with a smile.

Faced with her stubborn attitude, Chandler didn’t lose his cool. A barely noticeable curve formed at the comer of his attractive thin lips as

he uttered three words impassively, “You’re so ugly.”

He then stood up, pretending to leave. Tessa was successfully triggered. She burst out cursing. “You vile man! How dare you call me ugly? Who do think is responsible for how I look now? It’s you! It’s all because of you back then!”

Osborn had told Chandler about the unfortunate events she’d experienced in the past.

Facing the twisted and gloomy Tessa, Chandler coldly said. “Stop deceiving yourself. Initially, I thought your misfortune was indeed

deserving of sympathy, but now I just want to say you fucking deserved it!”

His ruthless words made Tessa’s eyes turn red with anger as she gasped for breath. She cruelly said, “I regret not letting a group of thugs have their way with Erin! It was too kind of me to only steal her child!”

Chandler desperately wanted to rush over and punch Tessa’s mouth! He was standing there merely to engage in a psychological battle with Tessa to see whose defenses would crumble first.

Tessa refrained from revealing Erin’s whereabouts, simply wanting to torment Chandler mentally. He wouldn’t fall for her tricks, but her words still made him boil with uncontrollable rage.

“Hahaha, your endurance is impressive now! Back when you were in medical school, you wouldn’t hesitate to throw a punch at someone. But now I guess you’re not even the one who throws punches anymore, are you?” Tessa looked unbothered and disinterested. Her expression was clearly provoking, as if she were taunting Chandler to go ahead and kill her if he dared. That infuriating look of hers made. Chandler’s hatred for her increase tenfold.

Gritting his teeth, Chandler used all his willpower to contain the intense hatred and fury surging within him. He wished he could beat Tessa to death. The two scumbags had imprisoned Erin for a whole eight months! Before her due date, they’d even cut open her stomach and stolen her child!

All of this severely tested his patience. He was genuinely afraid that he couldn’t control himself. At any moment, he might rush out, seize Osborn’s gun, and blow Tessa’s head off right there!

“Chandler, seeing how badly you want to kill me but you’re holding yourself back I must say, this is quite delightful!” Tessa seemed to

be enjoying the moment.

A grim emotion flashed through Chandler’s eyes. He calmly said. “Since you’ll be sentenced to death anyway, there’s no need for me to dirty my hands. You’re not worthy enough for me to end your life personally.”

As expected, his words infuriated Tessa, and once again, she lost control of her emotions. “Let me tell you the truth, Chandler! Erin is already dead! If you want to find her corpse Hah! Dream on!”

Tessa’s words rendered Chandler speechless for a full five minutes as he stood there. They stared each other down, wanting nothing

more than to kill each other.

Finally, Chandler looked at the soulless Tessa and asked, “Why do you hate me so much? Why did you even come to hate the woman and

child I love?”

His genuine confusion and helplessness shook Tessa. To Chandler, she was as insignificant as if she were an ant. It was as if they didn’t

even belong to the same world.

Her expression instantly became serious, unlike before. “Ha! You wouldn’t understand. When a person loses the will to live, they always need a reason to keep going. I’m loveless, and I have no children, no

family, and no friends. Hatred brings inner peace to me. My ultimate belief is I must make you unhappy for the rest of your life! Just like me!”

Tessa’s lips curled into what appeared to be a happy smile, but soon her expression became somewhat distracted as if she had

remembered something unpleasant. Her expression then became complex and unpredictable, showing signs of abnormality.

Chandler stared at this madwoman, and his hopes of finding Erin gradually sank. It slowly sunk into a pool of still and stagnant water.

“You never intended to tell me about Erin’s whereabouts, did you? You just wanted to show off the darkness within your heart to me. Tessa, you’re not human. Your mother should never have given birth to you in the first place.” Chandler was ready to give up; he knew Tessa wouldn’t say anything.

Listening to Chandler’s emotionless but extremely malicious words, Tessa lowered her head and tears suddenly fell. “Chandler, if Erin were disfigured like me, would you still love her?”

Chandler, who had already turned to leave, halted his steps. He didn’t turn around to look at her, but he answered right away with certainty. “Yes.”

Suddenly, Tessa raised her head and sneered, “Here I was, thinking you were an honest man, but you’re just a hypocritical guy in the end! Even if she isn’t disfigured, I’m sure you wouldn’t want her anymore if she’s been defiled by other men! You men are all fucking hypocrites!”

Chandler turned to look at Tessa. He said his final words, “You don’t understand what love is because you have never experienced love.”

Only when she heard the sound of the iron door closing did Tessa come to her senses and realize that Chandler had already left. Chandler’s final words had dealt a heavy blow to her.

Ever since she was arrested, she hadn’t seen Jack. It was quite possible that he’d already gone into hiding..

Tessa couldn’t help but laugh. Perhaps her love for Jack had always been an illusion. After all, deep down in her own heart, she was clear about one thing–she’d never truly loved Jack.

Jack was nothing more than an accomplice who accompanied her in killing and disposing of bodies.

Ten minutes later, when Tessa was escorted out of the interrogation room by two police officers, she was surprised to see a man walking toward her in the corridor. She looked at him with a puzzled expression and called out, “Jack?”
