Charlotte's arm was numb, and the fruit knife fell from her fingers to the ground. She could feel his hot This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
breath on her neck. It was the same as the previous night.
The last glimmer of hope was lost. Her heart was filled with despair. She cursed him violently, "Sooner
or later you'll pay for what you have done, Oliver. Mark my words!"
Oliver frowned and covered her mouth with his hand. His eyes were glowing with anger like two fiery
coals. "Do you think you can afford to fight me right now with your family's company going bankrupt?
Why don't you just become my woman? As long as you behave well, I'll make sure you have a good
future and live well."
Charlotte was so shocked to hear this that she stopped struggling.
How did he know so much about her family?
Then it hit her. The name Oliver Shen was familiar because he was the owner of the Shen Group, a
well-known giant at home and abroad. She had assumed that he was just some random man with the
same name. Everyone's servile attitude towards him did make her a little suspicious earlier, but now
everything was crystal clear.
Never in her wildest dreams would she have imagined that she would cross paths with such a powerful
man. She was shocked, and at the same time, she thought about the land development project that her
father had participated in several months ago. The construction was delayed for lack of money, and the
Shao Group was inexplicably trapped. They could not afford to pay back the huge debt and, as a result,
it was declared bankrupt.
She had done a secret investigation, and it turned out that the land was purchased by the Shen Group.
Oliver Shen! He was her destined enemy even before they met!
Charlotte suddenly broke free from Oliver's grip and pounded the table. With a trembling but
determined voice, she stated, "I want to sue him. I'm willing to undergo a physical examination and
whatever else is needed for that! I don't care if it ruins my reputation in the process as long as he is
thrown in prison!"
"Don't be so ungrateful!" Oliver had been very patient this whole time but he couldn't stand it anymore.
He stepped forward menacingly, grabbed her wrist and leaned in dangerously close. He whispered
darkly in her ear, "I gave you a chance, but you didn't cherish it. Do you actually believe that you will be
able to send me to prison? It'll never happen."
With that, he dragged her to the door right in front of the shocked audience in the police station. No one
dared to stop him.
It was raining heavily outside. The gray skies were shrouded in haze and the air was so stifling that one
could hardly breathe.
In the elegant bedroom, a slender woman was sitting in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, wearing a
simple white shirt and a short chiffon skirt. She watched the rain pouring down the glass with a vacant
expression. Her thick, long eyelashes were moist, and she had a deathlike pallor. Her long hair was
whipping in the wind.
Suddenly, steady, rhythmic footsteps broke the silence.
The moment she heard the sound, Charlotte's eyes widened. She jerked her head up and stared at the
door, her senses on high alert. She subconsciously took a few steps back and curled up in the corner
of the room.
The door of the bedroom opened and a tall figure walked in. His bottomless eyes fell on Charlotte first
and then on the untouched dinner on the table. He sneered.
"Do you think it's of any use to go on a hunger strike?" he asked in a deep, magnetic voice.
His impassive tone resonated with his attitude towards her last night. She couldn't help shivering.
"What the hell do you want? Why have you brought me here and locked me up? Are you afraid that I
will tell the world what you have done and ruin your company's reputation if you let me go?"
He casually locked the door and stalked towards her. He said coolly, "Afraid of you? A weak kitten?"
He looked at her the way a predator eyed its prey and laughed. Charlotte's pale face turned red with
anger.
She raised her head and boldly looked him in the eye. She was trying to preserve her last shred of
dignity. Gritting her teeth, she said, "Don't be so smug. As long as I'm still alive, I will make you pay for
what you did to me! I will sue you and ruin your whole life!"
Finally, a hint of impatience flashed in Oliver's eyes. 'I should teach this vicious woman a lesson,' he
thought to himself.
