Chapter 591 Keeping His Promise
Chapter 591 Keeping His Promise
Damien couldn’t stand watching Clarissa cry. When she did, it made him want to pluck the stars from
the sky for her.
“The marriage certificate is fake! I got someone to fabricate it. Why didn’t you tell me you were
pregnant? Why did you abort it?” Damien was angry and upset. However, the milk had already been
spilt. He couldn’t turn back time.
Clarissa didn’t speak. She only kept on sobbing.
“Fuck,” Damien swore again.
He had cursed twice that day, and they had both been directed at himself. Part of it was directed at Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Clarissa’s gentle hesitation and unspeaking crying. However, he could do nothing about this. He
couldn’t even come up with any idea of how to stop her.
Clarissa turned to look at him with wide eyes. She had never heard Damien curse.
“Why are you swearing at me?” Clarissa asked huffily.
“I’m not swearing at you, I’m swearing at myself. I’m not going home tonight. I’m staying here.”
“No!” Clarissa rejected fiercely. “You always get physical. I’ve just had an abortion. I can’t have sex for
a month!”
“I won’t touch you. I’ll just sleep with you.” Damien was very regretful. He had never felt such regret
before in his life.
“I’m afraid Chanel will…”
“Don’t mention her. We never married.” Damien was even more annoyed now.
Chanel wasn’t worth the loss of a child.
“My mother’s still outside. I need to lull her to sleep.” After saying this, Clarissa got up from Damien’s
lap.
“Does she still need you to help her to sleep?” Damien was stunned.
“Yes.”
When Clarissa left the room, a stealthy grin danced on her lips. ‘Screw you, Damien!’
Mildred wasn’t sleeping very well. She always curled up into a ball and startled awake in the night.
Clarissa had to lull Mildred back to sleep, as if the latter were a child. “Mom, don’t be scared, I’m here.”
Only then would Mildred slowly go back to sleep.
The way Clarissa treated Mildred was different from how she had been with Theresa. She was even
more intimate with Theresa. After all, Theresa had pampered her as she was growing up. Before
Theresa, Clarissa was a childish little girl. However, Mildred had grown up in the lap of luxury, only to
later fall into hard times. As such, Clarissa felt more responsible for her. Perhaps it was due to the fact
that she was older now.
Clarissa had to teach her classes, so she wanted to find a caretaker for Mildred. However, this was a
challenging task.
After all, Mildred was unlike most people.
After Mildred finally went to sleep, Clarissa went back to her room.
“Do you have any good contacts?” Clarissa asked as she closed the door.
Damien was sitting on the bed, reading one of Clarissa’s books.
Damien looked up at Clarissa. “Are you looking for a caretaker for your mother?”
Clarissa was stunned at Damien’s precise guess. “How did you know?”
“I guessed.”
“So, do you know anyone?” Clarissa got into bed and leaned against the headboard as well.
“Send her over to my house.”
Clarissa thought hard about it. If she sent her mother over, that meant she would have lost the fight.
This time, she had to double down and make Damien suffer. Otherwise, he wouldn’t consider marrying
someone else a serious offense. If it happened once, it could happen again.
“No, I have to work. I’ve just started here, and I’m very busy,” Clarissa said.
“I can’t find anyone.” Damien was adamant to have Clarissa live at his house.
In truth, it wasn’t impossible to find someone to hire.
After being with Damien for so many years, Clarissa had gradually grasped how his brain worked. So
she said, “Let’s go to bed now and talk about it tomorrow.”
That night, Damien kept his promise. He only spooned Clarissa in sleep, and didn’t try anything.
